The two short versions, 30 seconds and 60 seconds will most likely be shown as paid TV spots in foreign countries, maybe CNN too. The longer versions of 10 minutes and 16 minutes might be incorporated into news stories on TV channels overseas as well. All in all, a very savvy and professional tourism marketing PR strategy. Will Taiwan be ready now for the huge influx of travellers after this film goes viral? Time will tell....
The Tourism Bureau's savvy Janice Lai invited talented film director Johnason Lo and Michael Fimognari, a well-known cinematographer to make "Time for Taiwan — My Beautiful Island".
The film focuses primarily on interpersonal relations and is seen through eyes of four groups of tourists and through their stories in Taiwan. A trip can produce in tourists valuable memories and a desire to come again. This is what the film, "It's time for Taiwan", tries to tell everyone in the world: come experience this beautiful island nation of very friendly PEOPLE.
The film combines several themes along with Taiwan's non-Christian religions, folk culture, Aboriginal tribes, bicycling, hot springs, mountain hiking, and eco-tourism. Four versions with different lengths have been produced: 16 minutes, 10 minutes, 60 seconds, and 30 seconds.
the PEOPLE of Taiwan are more interesting and more genuine than the PEOPLE of Japan or Thailand or China, to be honest. But due to communist China's belitting of Taiwan's space in the international arena, most foreigners have a negative image of Taiwan and its people. Fighting on TV during legislative debates! Jokes about "made in Taiwan" on TV talk shows. And other slights of Taiwan
The most meaningful part of many trips is the PEOPLE you meet along the way, and this is true of Taiwan, too. In fact, the secret of Taiwan, which the outside world still is not really aware of, is its PEOPLE. In fact,
the PEOPLE of Taiwan are more interesting and more genuine than the PEOPLE of Japan or Thailand or China, to be honest. But due to communist China's belitting of Taiwan's space in the international arena, most foreigners have a negative image of Taiwan and its people.
So a budget was set up and a new international travel promotional film was shot, using sophisticated movie-production values to incorporate the island nation's natural beauty and cultural diversity into a short film. The beauty of Taiwan is shown through both images and sound to portray Taiwan's warmth and hospitality to from tourists around the world.
The Tourism Bureau of Taiwan has done a good job with this film, made for an international audience of travel customers who might visit Japan or communist China, but neglect little Taiwan on their itinerary. However, if they see this paid commercial on TV in the USA and Europe and Japan and China, they just might make plans in the future to visit.....TAIWAN! .....the REAL "China" of today.
