  • It is my opinion that unfortunately those that are homeless, are in that state because time and unforseen occurrence befalled them all. None of us knows what tommorrow will bring.

  • I lost my job and when my unemployment benefits and savings ran out, and I wore out my welcome with my kinfolks, I moved to Canada. By accident, I was born in Canada and kept its citizenship through laziness and indifference. I'm sure glad I did.

Some call it socialism, but Canada took care of me till I found a job and got back on my feet.

  • back before 1972 (in australia) vagrants (like i was then) could get 6 mths jail ----but since then (the law changed) and they are free to do their own thing.....gee you rave on a lot without gettin' to the gist of things.

  • in australia we got plenty---the government gives em $650 a fortnight---but they have to be mentally able to apply for it.

  • Homeless people can get a free airline ticket to anywhere in NYC...but it's a ONE-WAY ticket. They figured out that its cheaper than housing them.

  • Just blame the People...Everyone is not going to fit into the society, that is set up by man...It is not going to happen....There are losers in life true but everyone is not going to be a winner in life.

  • This is a great topic to do a documentary on. I had a friend from Portland that did the same and his documentary was great. So much so it makes me more and more interested in hearing about the life from the voice of the people whom are homeless.

  • i say if your the type of person who believes that others or someone supposely "high" up there the ladder should stop all this homeless problem and what not.I say you truely do not care or your lazy.starting a project or just giving a buck to them wont do crap.I say why not reform the school programs and how it is run and make it more diverse so it fits most people, and it could truely help.Cause i know for sure this school system could give you a job but it could be better in most

  • dude i don't know why your doing this but its inspiring and eye opening. i dont feel sorry for these people but i understand more why they're in the position the're in..in life. i hope they turn around their situation. thanks for doing this.

  • JBO,

Off all the millions of videos on Youtube, I think yours are the most pertinent and valuable I have ever seen.

    Keep up the great work!

  • giving money is not the only way to help...if you help by giving money that will end up fueling substance abuse, that is not helping at all, that is contributing to the problem.

I feel more comfortable bringing food, volunteering at a shelter ect than giving cash

  • your born again former Christian girlfriend sounded like she may have been enabling homeless people. You were wise to be cautious about giving your dollars. I live in a metropolitan city if I gave a dollar to every homeless person with their hand out, I would be homeless out there too. Homeless people have access to social benefits that I don't have. I look at my fica coming out of my check and see that these people have access to benefits that I can't get.

  • brilliant work about a fascinating and troubling epidemic world wide. Im working on a similar research project for a screenplay and I appreciate your efforts in sharing these stories, cheers and take care.

  • Yeah, there are lots of reasons people become homeless. When I worked at the CCNV in D.C. I was struck by the stories they told us. It wouldn't be a stretch to see me in that position some day. I was also impressed by the hope and high spirits some of them displayed.

  • What many people dont understand is many of these people are mentally ill. Many homeless have alternatives that would get them off the street but their mental illness stops them from taking up an offer that a "normal" person would.

  • tubester4567, I agree and you are 100% correct.

  • @tubester4567

I don't thi k mental illness has everything to do with homelessness. Sometimes its down to circumstances beyond your control. As a former homeless person, I hated all the sterotypes about me.

It amazes me that everybody wants to win the lottery and become rich rather than just be happy with who you are. Now I am no longer in the poverty level. I am in the lower bracket of the middle class, but far better than I was before.

Now I have my own home

    I work two jobs

    I'm happy

  • "Its not school, its not never wanting to work, its not drugs.............. How come you don't see very many female homeless people? Because women have a support system (through society, government, schools, etc) that does not ALLOW them to fail. The majority of homeless are men because we live in a society that could care less about men. "

    I cosign @Shehasnomrals

This has to be true to quit a degree. Men, in genral, seem to be treated like robots. I had to take out a few things to make it fit.

  • REAL ASS TALK

  • Junebug MOST of them are going to LIE

If you never been homeless you can't tell if they LYING.

I been homeless I know the game and how they think.

plan and simple MOST of them are older men who have lived their life and they just gave up

  • Why not give money to the homeless? Were giving taxpayer money to the wealthy & unscrupulous. I feel we owe more to our fellow man than AIB. Reportedly less than 10% of American homeowners OWN their home free & clear. There but for the grace of God go I (or you) Great subject 6 stars.

  • And yes I'm one of those people that don't like to hear you talk BUT damn good job. You should contact CNN about this one.

  • Hey Junebug, maybe in a follow up you should take a deep look at the places I mentioned & investigate whether or not they are really effective in helping out the homeless.

Maybe find some test subjects & follow them as they go through the programs in a reality TV kind of way. Just a suggestion, anyways...

  • willia3r, great idea, but that's a lot of work!!! I'm gonna be needing a check for all that..LOL! I am all in favor of doing a reality show, but it won't be about the homeless. How about "Junebug Obama of Love"? (JUST KIDDING. LOL!)

  • I think the Department of Family & Children Services on Poplar Street also have programs to deal with homelessness but I think it's mostly for women & children.

  • People also don't realize that Atlanta Prorgrms in truth are really some the best offered in this country! So that may say a lot for how this country actually deals with the homeless issue.

Also, just as we offer bus tickets for homeless people to leave this city and state, other municipalities in the country offer people bus rides to Atlanta. Its probably more on the latter than on the former.

  • There are programs in Atlanta, but I do not know the extent which they offer the services necessary to ameliorate homelessness. There is the Gateway Program on Pryor Street. There is Traveler's Aid of Atlanta on 75 Marietta St. I think the United Way Center on 100 Edgewood Ave also does something for the homeless.

I'm not so concern about the able-bodied group as I am about the mentally handicapped. They can't help their situation & THAT'S one area that needs progressive funding.

  • Atlanta has a lot of homeless people.

  • i know man. a one way ticket 2 ANYWHERE??? lol i woulda acted like i was homeless n got 2 if i was tryin 2 move away...some people probably did

  • I'm in Boston and a lot of homeless people are on drugs. Well I really can't say their homeless because they have section 8.

  • OMG! Junebug you are in atlanta! I wanna move there but cant right now. :( Damn exporting homeless people. You think they would set up counseling services to help them with their problems in the mind. Once you clean up the mind you can clean up everything else. This hurts my heart. America government doesnt really care about their people keeping the bottom on the bottom is the goal which evident in the welfare programs.

  • loreanashli, They do have some programs and some support for the homeless. I don't know if you have heard of Hosea Feed the Homeless Foundation. Hosea Williams is a former civil rights leader who fought with Dr. King. He passed away, but now his daughter is in charge of his organization and they are a resource to help the needy of all kinds.

These programs are merely a drop in the bucket. They can't help the masses out here on the streets.

  • do they have any programs that provides counseling?! ,,,,thats what I'm talking about. I mean beyond drug abuse some intense counseling. I know that wont be able to help everyone but is there if they want it?!

  • Brother Junebug we need to also tell why these people dropped out. I watched counter the conspiracy to destroy black boys and it blew my mind. I know there are other factors but what children especially black boys are up against is crazy. We also need to support our families like we used to, there is no way a person with family should be homeless. :(

  • i deleted you from my friends because i did not know whether or not you wanted to recieve videos from me. Nonetheless i did subscribe to your channel so that i'll know when you upload new videos. keep on doin wut chu do Junebug.

  • Great topic.

  • Good video and topic brother. I really felt this one.

  • Its not school, its not never wanting to work, its not drugs. The main factor for these men being homeless is the fact that they are MEN. How come you don't see very many female homeless people? Because women have a support system (through society, government, schools, etc) that does not ALLOW them to fail. The majority of homeless are men because we live in a society that could care less about men. UNLESS they are working to support the system and women. The rest of the vid is bullshit.

  • Your very right!!! And I agree. I have always said that all a women has to do is have a child or children and they can get welfare and other gov support etc. If your a man. lol No one give a shit about you. But if your a women people will ohhhhh she has those kids. I mean granted it's not the kids fault but women will use the kids to support if she does not want to better herself.

  • Misandry is extremely prevalent in western society. This translates into many disadvantaged men that have no one or nothing to turn to. On the other hand a woman can get loans from the hundreds of women only government programs, have children and get welfare and a home, sleep with a man and get a home (its called marriage), or screw a guy (or at least act like they are going to screw him) and get fed and treated well (also known as dating). Men are NOT being given a fair shake in this country.

  • Ya the Octamom a whatever her name is got a house. And she does not work. It's a nice house too. lol

  • Well it's the guys fault for not taking enough time to get to know a woman to see what her motives are. Sex complicates things and often furthers a delusion. You can only get to know a person through time give them six months to a year and there true colors fold. Furthermore men need to wake up and realize that women who have two or more kids by a guy are making that guy unattractive. A single woman rather have a divorced man with kids than an irresponsible baby daddy.

  • This is a good series because it is serious. Junebug, I agree with you about giving money in random on the streets because some use money for their addictions. The Christian lady you dated should have gave money to a homeless shelter or her church start or participate in a ministry on helping the homeless and give words of hope. For starters people should help give to charities to help those in need. The Bible says we will always have the poor but we will have less poor people if we help

  • Honestly, I don't care what they do with the money. That's why it's considered THEIR money when it goes from my hands to his!

I feel that I've done my job by helping somebody and that's all that matters. I would likely go to McDonalds or something else stupid with the money so is a dollar or two really gonna hurt me? Not really.

People are so fucking cruel to homeless people. I hate homelessness and it proves that we live in a land of class and unnecessary status!!!

  • ★★★★★

  • Great intro can't wait for the rest of the series.

  • Junebug, so what happen to the man? I guess its part 2.

  • lundyncanada...It's still uploading. I didn't know it would take this long but it should be available shortly. You can go ahead and put the popcorn in the microwave:)

  • LOL! My A.D.D. had picked in LOL!

  • Panhandlers and Muggers are prosecuted and released within 72hrs right back on the streets in Chicago. It's really a huge epidemic...it's sad seeing panhandlers when you're walking back and forth to work everyday, but it's also extremely annoying at times too. And I've witnessed this particular guy hit and mug females on the same street more than one occasion and I still walk past him every fuckin day to work. Good post, there's obviously no plan towards addressing the homeless yet.

  • Vintage27, I don't know what the solution to the problem is. From what people tell me it's the same in most of these cities. I have been to Chicago and I noticed that it's a lot like here as far as the homeless is concerned.

Stay tuned...I am uploading part two, which is my interview footage.
