Who cares of it can put a better picture on the screen. When the online community and everything els is so inviting and friendly, who cares who has the better processor. (btw both consoles are garbage in the PC world, New consoles should be coming the year after next with things that will blow your mind)

games which are developed on both consoles are just ports, they stop the PS3 from showing off its own capabilities because the game sticks to similar specs so it can run on both consoles. there arent many PS3 exclusive games which have tried to push its capabilities though
also. alot of graphics comparisons arent accurate since most people seem to forget to switch the HDMI settings from limited to full in the settings

Whereas in reality, the GameCube was an absolute powerhouse compared to the PS2.
You only have to look at RESI4 on the GC and Star Wars Rebel Strike to realise that the GameCube was producing some of the best looking games of that generation.
PS2 version of Resi 4 was damnright ugly compared to GC.

The only problem on the PS3 is the RAM speed, if the games are gonna be better they need like 2GB of RAM, 256mb of it ain't sufficient for the Blu Ray discs, the loading times are a nightmare...

the ps3 uses much faster ram than any pc, it called XDR RAM it runs at 25.6GB/s. It has 512mb ram 256mb main 256mb video but that (if used by the developer) can be used as main ram as well. it is much more powerful than the 360 so you cant say hardware drawbacks ruins it. before you say im a fan boy, i have both the ps3 and 360.

Biggest problem on consoles, Anti-Aliasing isn't used enough. If you look at Disney cars demo, AA is awesome. Look at realistic games, its non-existant. 1080p with AA on the PC is perfection
the ps3 has a web browser. but thats a small thing since every other device has a web browser now.
And it won't run a full 1080p, in fact, alot of games don't even when they say they do. Many times they will run at a lower resolution and actually try "upscaling" which is even worse than when they try it on a video file.
I've compared the 1080p of consoles to 1080p on my pc on the exact same screen. Just a change of channel and the pc is amazingly sharper.
I've gotta say - after playing cod4 in HD on the ps3 it looks poor compared to that of the PC. Texture quality is abysmal (even more so when its blown up on a 52 inch screen) and looks the equivalent of the medium setting.
I'd be far more impressed by the PS3 if it had backwards compatibility, but it hasn't. There was only one model that offered limited compatibility (in Europe), and that's now obsolete. Sony now appear to be saying what all other console manufacturers do; "You can buy your games from us, but don't bother getting attached or making a collection of them, 'cause some years down the line we wont support them and you wont be able to play them".
actually the ps3 is supposed to be releasing a new model with backwards compatibility and an 80 Gb harddrive, altho i haven't checkd it out to see if its true.

Also it is the most powerful by processing power. Graphic power isn't quite as good as the 360. And none of the games today use processing power to render scenes, its done on the graphics which means its not as good as the 360.

The 360's ATI graphics gpu is a generation newer than the PS3's nvidia gpu. 360 also has a small frame buffer dedicated to anti aliasing. So the 360 DOES have better graphics. Just look at GTA 4... 360 runs it at 720p, PS3 runs it at 640p and the textures aren't as sharp as they are on the 360.
If you look up the specs, the PS3 has better graffix, and 5 processors, compared to the 360s 2. :) Plus: Free online play, though the 360 is good, the PS3 is better
The 360 has a triple core 'Power PC' CPU, each core can do two threads.. that's 6 threads.
The PS3 has a single one of those general purpose cores, similar to the 360's... but also has 5 more "SPE's" with aren't general purpose and can only be applied to certain tasks.
Now that's 6 threads each... 360's are general purpose, PS3's has one single general one and 5 "others".
actualyl if u look up the specs u see that he ps3's graphics chip isn't as good. for the two best and most undeniable reasons.
If you do the calculations you'll see its actually slightly slower. (you have to be careful when comparing, they both giv the specs in diffrent ways. ps3 might be 500 over the 360's 400, but what is the unit?)
The other reason is that the 360 uses technology similar to Direct X 10, which greatly improves performance, and allows the chip to provide better effects.

Motor Storm and Resistance Fall of Man seem to be pretty much the only games the PS3 has compared to the range from the 360. The 360 caters for everyone ... you want racing, theres Forza Motorsport, you want realistic shooting theres Call of Duty, you want fantasy shooting theres Halo. The list is endless. For PS3, you can fit all their games onto a single page of A4 and still have space left over.
Gadgetshow is good, but is disagree with loads of the things that they say, e.g. 'the most eagerly awaited next-gen conssole' I think the Wii took that title. A Super Computer, utter crap, wow how do you race on it? Yep, you use the D pad, how predictible.

Bottom line...who needs consoles when you have a PC? All the games on all platforms with better graphics and works out cheaper. It's more worth it when it comes to the time for an upgrade you just simply get a new bit of hardware (i.e graphics card) and sell the old one...no need to get another "console" that's only got one purpose and nothing else.
No I have both and the Xbox 360 STILL has better games (PS3 will get better games coming out tho like GT5 and tekken 6) and online play. The PS3 is built with better quality and free online gaming. They are both awesome tho

It has less games than the 360 because it's been out less, but on average the PS3 games are better. The PS3 has absolutely amazing games like Motorstorm and Resistance, to name but a few.
Also it's becoming evident that Blu-Ray is winning the "next-gen entertainment war" because it's outselling HD-DVD by 3 to 1. So it's a good idea to get a PS3 just for it's Blu-Ray ability.
The catalog of games that are now backwards compatible is huge. Most mainstream games are now compatible.

Honestly, there is practically no good games out for it... And quite honestly the only thing thats stopping me from selling it to someone else is MGS4. I dont own a 360 or a PS3.
360 has a better Graphics Chip, PS3 has a (in theory) a better processor.
Both are now old technology though, PS3's graphics chip was similar to an Nvida 7800GTX which is now ancient in terms of PC graphics.

I'm not into consoles any more, but it was common knowledge that the 360 had the better GPU.
There are a few comparisons around on youtube. I did read into it and 360 defintely superior in terms of GPU but only marginally.
PS3's proccessor when fully utilised should be MUCH more efficient than 360, but whether developers make use of that, I do not know.
Either way, PS3 and 360 and wii need to be replaced soon as they are over half way through their lifespan.

At the end of the day, both consoles have poor abilities if you compare to a top end PC (which I DONT have lol)

Biggest problem on consoles, Anti-Aliasing isn't used enough. If you look at Disney cars demo, AA is awesome. Look at realistic games, its non-existant. 1080p with AA on the PC is perfection

the ps3 has a web browser. but thats a small thing since every other device has a web browser now.
And it won't run a full 1080p, in fact, alot of games don't even when they say they do. Many times they will run at a lower resolution and actually try "upscaling" which is even worse than when they try it on a video file.
I've compared the 1080p of consoles to 1080p on my pc on the exact same screen. Just a change of channel and the pc is amazingly sharper.

I've gotta say - after playing cod4 in HD on the ps3 it looks poor compared to that of the PC. Texture quality is abysmal (even more so when its blown up on a 52 inch screen) and looks the equivalent of the medium setting.
Games still need some work yet.

I'd be far more impressed by the PS3 if it had backwards compatibility, but it hasn't. There was only one model that offered limited compatibility (in Europe), and that's now obsolete. Sony now appear to be saying what all other console manufacturers do; "You can buy your games from us, but don't bother getting attached or making a collection of them, 'cause some years down the line we wont support them and you wont be able to play them".

Also it is the most powerful by processing power. Graphic power isn't quite as good as the 360. And none of the games today use processing power to render scenes, its done on the graphics which means its not as good as the 360.
Also it is the most eagerly awaited.. because you've actually had to wait for it.

The 360's ATI graphics gpu is a generation newer than the PS3's nvidia gpu. 360 also has a small frame buffer dedicated to anti aliasing. So the 360 DOES have better graphics. Just look at GTA 4... 360 runs it at 720p, PS3 runs it at 640p and the textures aren't as sharp as they are on the 360.

If you look up the specs, the PS3 has better graffix, and 5 processors, compared to the 360s 2. :) Plus: Free online play, though the 360 is good, the PS3 is better

The 360 has a triple core 'Power PC' CPU, each core can do two threads.. that's 6 threads.
The PS3 has a single one of those general purpose cores, similar to the 360's... but also has 5 more "SPE's" with aren't general purpose and can only be applied to certain tasks.
Now that's 6 threads each... 360's are general purpose, PS3's has one single general one and 5 "others".

actualyl if u look up the specs u see that he ps3's graphics chip isn't as good. for the two best and most undeniable reasons.
If you do the calculations you'll see its actually slightly slower. (you have to be careful when comparing, they both giv the specs in diffrent ways. ps3 might be 500 over the 360's 400, but what is the unit?)
The other reason is that the 360 uses technology similar to Direct X 10, which greatly improves performance, and allows the chip to provide better effects.

which part the part when i was talking about the PS3 becoming a PC, you can you could with a PSX, PS1, PS2, the software is sort of third party.
And the graphics on Xbox were made with the old Xbox hardware and software so cannot take full advantage of the new device, and the PS3 is sort of the same, there just PS2 graphics but more intense because the CPR can stand the amount of calculations both graphics and audio

Motor Storm and Resistance Fall of Man seem to be pretty much the only games the PS3 has compared to the range from the 360. The 360 caters for everyone ... you want racing, theres Forza Motorsport, you want realistic shooting theres Call of Duty, you want fantasy shooting theres Halo. The list is endless. For PS3, you can fit all their games onto a single page of A4 and still have space left over.

Bottom line...who needs consoles when you have a PC? All the games on all platforms with better graphics and works out cheaper. It's more worth it when it comes to the time for an upgrade you just simply get a new bit of hardware (i.e graphics card) and sell the old one...no need to get another "console" that's only got one purpose and nothing else.

No I have both and the Xbox 360 STILL has better games (PS3 will get better games coming out tho like GT5 and tekken 6) and online play. The PS3 is built with better quality and free online gaming. They are both awesome tho

That's utterly ridiculous. The PS3 has no games. There won't be till GT5 or MGS4 next spring.
The seriously low price of HD DVD players mean there's not a single solitary reason to own a PS3.
Being a PS1 and PS2 owner, I was really looking forward to get a PS3. But the removal of backward compatibility, the cost and Sony's disdain for UK customers is just too much
Maybe I'll pick up a PS3 when games are £5 in bargain bins

It has less games than the 360 because it's been out less, but on average the PS3 games are better. The PS3 has absolutely amazing games like Motorstorm and Resistance, to name but a few.
Also it's becoming evident that Blu-Ray is winning the "next-gen entertainment war" because it's outselling HD-DVD by 3 to 1. So it's a good idea to get a PS3 just for it's Blu-Ray ability.
The catalog of games that are now backwards compatible is huge. Most mainstream games are now compatible.

one of the biggest problems with the ps3 is getting it online . . . it's almost impossable
and that's a HUGE part of gaming
so if you really love gaming then get a 360 and xbox live and you'll never look back
(unless you have an awesome computer)
