  • I read once that this was written for Johnny Winter.

  • @taildragger53 I believe Johnny Winter released this song before the Stones.

  • Even the Stones were a bit glam rock in 1973.

  • so incredibly awesome. Mick Jagger and company truly rock

  • A fave Stones song.Hey, I love blues slide geetar. My fave Stones album's "Exile on Main Street" cuz it's full of fine rootsy songs, including country blues,a little C&W,even gospel.Arguably,Keith wrote much of his best music ever during early years of his heroin addiction, early '70s.This suggests drugs, even so-called hard drugs, aren't necessarily all bad all the time... Without heroin, the world may never have ever gotten to hear "Silver Train" or "Exile"! Praise be to the Poppy Goddess!

  • east village did a good cover.

  • This is all great, but who's playing the bleed'n-bloody fuck'n harmonica? Lip syncing Stones, huhhhh? WTF? The credits are on the album. Perhaps Charlie's sneaking it in and we can;t see him, LOL.....NOT!

  • yeah !!!

  • Great tune hope they pull this one out on the next tour!!

  • The Stones are Rockin', the Stones are Rollin', the Stones are still no 1.They Rock. Mick Taylor is a genius on any ting that got strings. Mick T Rocks, Rolls & Slides.

  • Elvis clothes???

  • Who don't like Goats? This shat rocks!

  • Absolutely love this tune. Can do without the prancing peacock however.

  • One of my favorite Stones songs ever. If this had been on Exile it would be considered a classic IMHO. This and Luxury stand as my two favorite Stones songs that no one ever mentions.

  • been a stones fan since i was 14 & NEVER saw this.... awesome post... thank you!!!

  • Goats Head Soup ......for me , the best stones album

  • almost forgot about this tune ... fab video !! those were the days u shoulda seen em... scary.!

  • What a great record! The Stones were at their best when Mick Taylor was in the band.

  • This is yet another horrible song of the rather bad recording Goats Head Soup. The songs on GHS are worse than all the bubble gum songs Jagger and Richards wrote before Let it Bleed.

  • @TruthAxe fuck you ! goats is great your bastard!

  • @TruthAxe fuck you your bastard!

  • Mick Taylor --- great.

  • soundtrack of my youth. i was about 14 when this record came out and i wore the grooves off it. at the age of 14, the rolling stones taught me to be a dirty old man.

  • and I did not know her name!

  • MIck Taylor sounded so good playing w/the stones..theres real heat & soul magic there

  • We should form a GHS Society for all of the fans of this tortured, sad, badass, burn out record of fatigue, passion, and amazing slide guitar playing...even though IORR was the last official record with the might M.T. playing on it, it feels like this is the last Mick Taylor as an integral part of the group record, if you know what I mean...except for his playing on short and curlies and his heartbreaking solo at the end of time waits for no one which is beyond description...so sad

  • very well said, big dan....

  • a bit of goats head soup every few weeks provides nurishment for the soul. winter had me to tears once. the critics can burn

  • @84BIGDAN Hell yes and Amen! My sentimental favorite Stones record...Silver Spoon is comin'...love the sound of this whole record...short and curlies from IORR is from these sessions, you can hear it in the production...last record with Jimmy Miller, GHS is

  • A Rolling Stones classic, Mick Taylor was around when the Stones were on top of their game. Isn't that interesting?

  • Nice lyric alteration at :32 from album version: "Think I'll getcha in my mouth."

  • Goats Head Soup Fuckin' Swings Badass.

Critics never liked it and i never worked out why, gets played in my house regularly (up loud)

Taylor Slide on this track is Fantastic....

  • Damn right...not a bad track on the LP...

  • I agree 100%. The stupid critics didn't like Exile upon it's release either. Goats Head Soup has some serious rockers; Star Star, Dancin' With Mr. D, Doo Doo Doo Heartbreaker, not to mention some great ballads. Crank it up!

  • Winter is just sublime. One of my all time favorite songs by anybody QED

  • @demonsbutterfly

Thats my favorite stones album at the moment...Winter,100 years ago....etc...So fuckin underrated...It has sickest slide, guitar on it!!!

  • Ronnie's a fuckin' bad ass on guitar!! i don't think the stones ever had a bad one! lol

  • that's Mick Taylor, pre Mr. Wood

  • mick uses that suit in the rewind compliation , when bill is dreaming, love this song , kif looks like a witch in acid ..............taylor a plus as ever !

  • A witch on acid, That's so true!! HAHAHA.

  • BEST WISHES FRM PERU

  • Mick Taylor...quiet, unassuming, modest, preferred the background. And yet, one of the greatest guitarist who ever strapped it on. And as a guitar player for over 40 years, I don't hesitate in saying this band is totally washed up.The Jagger/Richards machine has completely run out of ideas. They haven't put out a decent album since Steel Wheels. And when was the beginning of the end? When Taylor quit and they replaced him with an insipid, uninspired, and worthless guitar player named Ron Wood.

  • That is YOUR opinion buddy. They still put out pretty good tunes. A lot better than the chart fodder you hear now. What about Voodoo lounge? Even Bridges to Babalon had some great music. They aren't what they used to be but so what?

  • ronnie would could shit on a guitar and it would sound better than anything you ever plucked. fuck you.

  • God I never reply to a reply but I agree with you getting pissed at the guy putting Ronnie down. The thing people dont realize and Ronnie couldnt have known, because he wanted to be a Stone as early as the 60s is The Sones were unfortunatly passed their Kiiler,Boggie Woogy greatest rock band era.Bleed/Sticky/Exile. The kinda of music Ron Wood perfected with the Faces of the same 1969 to 1972 period. He would of fit in with the Stones perfect in that period.Tayler did a great job and life goes on..

  • @frankty67

    Agreed.

  • I tend to agree with you. Taylor was there when the best albums the Stones ever made came out.

  • Saw it on Don Kirschers Rock Concert;NBC after Midnite Special.

  • my generation...and we'll die rocking

  • Yes, we will.

  • Ronnie Wood is a talentless journey man who thinks he is a talented. Mick Taylor is million times better guitar player infact the stones acheived greatness as a result of their 1968-74 output, nothing to do with Ronnie Wood

  • Sciuto01, If you do your homework you'll find that Mick T. only plays significant parts on Sticky Fingers and Exile. Keith plays all the guitar on Let it Bleed with the exception of MT's slide on Country Honk, and MT wasn't even in the band when Beggar's was recorded. And Ronnie is way more than a "talentless journeyman." Maybe you just can't really spot the talent...

  • @Herioter from 69-74 Mick Taylor was significant both on the road (hunt down the Bootleg recordings) & in the Studio, you forget to mention It's only Rock n Roll- Taylor played some great licks on that album which sadly a lot of people forget.

  • I like his shiney suit! Oh yeahhhhh!!!

  • Jagger wearing an Ossie Clark jump-suit. Ossie and his wife and their cat were the subject of David Hockney's famous painting "Mr and Mrs Clark with Percy". Mick Taylor's slide playing is extraordinary. This track was originally written for Johnny Winter.

  • I love this song. I haven't heard it in ages. Thanks for posting this.

  • Klasse*****

  • Looks like Mick is trying to be Bowie. That's not an insult.

  • the stones in the glam rock era, brilliant, the glasgow rolling stones fan club.

  • great song....great band!

  • Great song all the way through. Goats Head Soup has some gems.

  • Fucking incredible.

  • GNR are light years behind the Stones.

  • oing?

  • WTH so who is playing the harp then? Fake

  • Who cares about harp? It's just a clip, man.

  • muito bom este video...

  • Ha Keith playing an SG never saw that before. I like Charlie's get up.

  • Teeth are pre dental majic as well.

Keith as we all know and love him.

Must be right before the ski trip to get his blood changed as well.

    He is beyond all others.

    K

  • This video changed my life

  • The QUINTESSENCE OF ROCK'N'ROLL !!!

  • this obviously goes to show you that no matter what the stones where, they will ALWAYS rock. you gotta love them.

oh and i think mick looks sexy in that outfit.

  • I love the look of Charlie Watts at 1:25.

  • My, my!!! The little boy is insecure about his own sexuality Us girls who grew up in the 70's and 80's love all that 'faggot'androgynous stuff.Maybe you should wear a dress elanips, you might even get the girl. Somehow i don't think so. Mickey J' looks absolutely beautiful i could eat him with a spoon

  • Thanks for posting this. This song was the b-side of the Angie single, I bought when it first came out, I must have been 10! One of their "minor" songs and yet it's fantastic! Well done!

  • great song. awesome preformance.

    GOD SAVE THE STONES

  • Oh man, and they blast Ashley Simpson for doing playbacks at tv performances!

  • That's the way some TV shows are, & besides, they can allow themselves to do it. Have you ever seen The Stones live? I've seen Dylan, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, The Who, Bowie, Sex Pistols, Zeppelin, Ramones, The Police, The Pretenders, The Stranglers, The Clash, all the greats like Ray Charles James Brown, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, all the 80s Goth bands & legends like The Velvet Underground and Iggy & The Stooges, but I've never seen a better show than The Stones..

  • You got that right!! i have seen all kinds of bands and the Stones were most mazing i doubt i will ever see any other band in my life to beat them. I Just wish i had seen them early like 60`s 70`s and 80`s cause i can`t get enough of them they the best ever!!

  • man if you saw LIVE all those bands,i hail you as the king. How old r y

  • I'm 43. One of the best shows I've ever seen was in 1989, it was called Giants Of Rock'n'Roll (I briefly refered to it in my previous comment).

The house band was led by Dave Edmunds, of Rockpile fame, and one after the other, doing 5 songs each, the performers were: James Brown, Ray Charles, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, BB King and Chuck Berry. You know what? Jerry Lee stole the show! He's not called The Killer for nothing! BTW, keep the "King" title for Elvis...

  • im impresed.I've been just to few show.I saw the Rolling Stones 2 years ago,White Snake,Purple,Krawitz,Police...But the problem is am only 20 and i live in Macedonia-not so many visitorus here.Missed Queen couple of days ago but now i'll be waiting for the AC\DC and Zeppelin world tours. If i see them that would rock

  • Oh HELL yeah! I missed this song!

with all respect to Johnny winter, I prefer this version.

  • My favorite song on the Goatshead Soup Album! I would turn the volume way way up when this cut came on. Loved Bill Wymann's bass line and Mick Taylor's lead. See folks it wasn't just the Glimmer twins who blasted the magic.

  • personally, I like the harp player best! ;-)

    this is playback, fellas...

  • yikes! it appears that jagger was watching bowie very closely at this point. johnny winter's version cuts this to shreds.

  • I believe the Stones wrote the song for Johnnie Winter. WInter rocks, no doubt. One of the best guitar players around according to Ritchie Blacmore, and me. But you can't do justice to this song without the open G tuning hook that Kieth built into this song. Sorry, I'm conflicted.

  • Taylor's good. great in fact.

  • i just love the clothes.best bend ever and thats a fact

  • Anyone ever notice that Mick wears the same outfit in this video and again in the Video Rewind thing with Bill.

  • this song is alot like "all down the line". Still love it though. Taylor added so much meat on the bones, the rippin' "can't you hear me knockin'" riff etc, that sound. Woody is a Stone, performance wise, but I have to agree, some great music, but more of a watered down sound, less rough. Less Les Pauls.

  • Stones rule the only problem is barely anyone knows them it's time for people to rediscover The Stones.

  • everybody knows who the stones are.they will live forever.

  • they had a problem with marketing eg. apparently not more than around a thousand people in Brazil have heard of them. It's a tad sad. (Sarcasm alert for those willing to contradict, but I will allow educational responses)

  • Mick Taylor is one of the best guitarists ever. Wood play's like a wooden Indian.

  • you are a fucking idiot

  • You must not have much of an education using such simple vulgarities in a public forum.

  • @einar76, you truly are a fucking idiot

  • Another flatulating buthead of an an Australian.

  • I apoligize to all Australians who are a great people. I just meant tskopelji.

  • if you haven't already, you need to watch this in full screen...omgosh mick's sparkly jumpsuit is...um...well, so mick!

  • Thanks for all the great '70s poppy music, Keef, like this great #!

    -er, opium poppy that is.

-btw, I wish someone would upload DANCE LITTLE SISTER to YT. After Keef got busted for heroin in Toronto, late '70s, Jimmy Page (no stranger to the poppy himself) said: "listen to Keith on Dance Little Sister, and you can forgive that guy for anything."

  • I predict a bright future to these guys !

    ;-)

  • my favorite stones era, Mick Taylor was great, he is actully a guitarist unlike the Woodman

  • Oooohhh Are you gonna get flamed ...

Ha ha ..I said the same thing on another vid and

Im still being called bodily orifices a year later.

    Too funny.

Ron Wood stopped playing when he got in the Stones.

There is no comparison to Mick, one of the most lyrical and

awsome guitarists of all times to ape fist Wood.

  • yea,, haha I know. But its my opinion but also happens to be the truth. This was my fav Stones era, Woodman is just a poser not a player.Rock on!

  • Mick is a great guitar player, but he'd never looked act or even been a stone.

Woody is not that good but is a true stone. BTW, on last tour woody kicked some serious asses with his solos, better than ever!

  • johnny winter did a great version too!

  • I forgot how much I loved this song

  • This is classic, the best line up,

    no doubt

  • That is not even up for debate! I guess Keith and Mick, just couldn't tolerate another superstar !!!! Mick Taylor is unreal!

  • This is superb, thanks for posting it.

  • great

  • The brilliant Mick Taylor. The forgotten Stone. He never got his due.The Stones were at their best during his tenure.

  • @parefan111 bullseye

  • The Stones rule.

    Here, they're at their best.

  • I am sure keith Richards takes drugs

  • I remember i saw this with 12 years at Radio Bremen,Musikladen on TV,my parents around me...hahaha,my mother

  • i want mick's outfit

  • Great!

Mick Taylor rocks again. Great slide.

Good track from a great album.

  • rappers, marilyn manson now that's sick. britney spears and justin timberlake making millions. that's sick. the stones PURE ROCK AND ROLL. now that's GREATNESS! hey BLUEMULE24 get on your tired ass mule and go blow elton john, faggot!

  • hey BLUEMULE24, F U C K U! there's nothing sick about rapers degrading women with their lyrics or talking about killing people. that's not sick. but jagger and the stones giving pure rock and roll, yeah that's sick. what a ashole. first time seeing the stones. where you been in a cave, LOSER!

  • hahah! i love micks outfit!

  • just fucken out sight

  • Does anybody knows if the Stones have ever played this song in concert?

  • They played it 3 times at the beginning of the 1973 European tour in Vienna, Cologne and London. Audience recordings available on bootleg.

  • wow! I had never seen or heard the Stones do this thanks. yes yes yes yes yes.....I know they wrote it for Johnny. dont get mad.

  • THE GREAtest BAnd on the eARTH! Thank you lord for the Rolling Stoness!

  • WOW.

This is the first time I have seen the Rolling Stones.

I am STUMPED. Holy hell, I had no idea something so SICK was EVEN POSSIBLE.

  • Poor boy, you don't even know what you're talkin' about... Where were you in 1973 ?

In the sands of nowhereland ? One day you'll surely understand that the Rolling Stones are the greatest rock'n'roll band in the world, and that it CHANGED the world... And your world too !

  • bluemule - one thing is clear and that is that you avoid your own reflection

  • Charlie is so good on this song !!!!

But they're all so good all the time !!!

  • ahhh makes me feel good inside.

  • Could someone post any live versions of this beautiful song ?

  • WOW this song is very good!

  • youll never hear music that that again....2007 all crap..

  • I agree with you, man ! ;-)

Let the Good old times roll...

  • fucking great song

  • Tolles Video.Danke für´s einsenden.Mick hat bis heute noch seine Figur gehalten, nicht wie so einige Musiker, die mit Fettbäuchen auftreten müssen.

  • Great ! Where was it ?
