Looks great. But on average they're $25-30 and you get $6 bottles. I don't think any amour if quality is worth $5 a bottle. It seems really good. Maybe if the set was $17-20. I mean I'm on a budget I can't afford to spend $5 a bottle.
I really like the concept behind these paint sets. Having shades in a set dedicated to one particular color is a great idea for people like myself who hate having to make custom mixes and having to remember them when painting large batches of historical figures for tabletop armies that I commission paint for.
I personally use only acrylics, which are Andrea, Vallejo and Mr. Hobby. I do not like Mr. Surfacer as the primer, cause it is enamel based, and I do not really like to work with paints which are chemically bad for health. Usually a prime with Vallejo Gray Primer from Model Air series. Andrea and Vallejo are mostly the same, andrea has nicer smell, but the are both good.
Looks great, you got me all excited. It'll be cool to have a matt finish when you want it to be. Vallejo is getting harder to come by back here in my country, so I'm sourcing around for alternatives.
These look cool, they look similar to Vallejo. The flesh set and ink set look interesting. How would they perform next to some of the other major modeling paints out there like: Citadel, Tamiya, Vallejo, or Reaper?
They perform in a similar way but they dry to a much 'flatter' finish than the others. Tamiya is great for airbrushing but not for brush painting. I also use Vallejo along with the Andrea sets - the darker greens and blues by Vallejo tend to try to a satin finish so I avoid them. You will see in the upcoming clips how the Andrea paints really excel at achieving great results. Stay tuned!
