I had two of these to begin with, a common one with red tentacles and this one with white tentacles. The red died after 3 months, so I left it open on the sand and my cleaner shrimps had a little feast! I've had the white one you see for 8 months now. They are generally hard to keep because they are filter feeders which require regular feedings of micro-plankton and this can be supplemented with products like marine snow which is what I use.
They are relatively short lived, around 3-4 years max. Their life expectancy is around 6-10 months in captivity and there are few reports of them surviving over a year in aquariums due to starvation. One thing to remember is to leave them where they end up rather than move them for viewing pleasure as they will embed themselves in the rock where the flow brings them food.
By the way man, in my opinion no matter how advanced, we are all beginners when it comes to understanding the full picture with marine life. The information is simply endless. But we can learn from each other, enthusiast to enthusiast.
Do they have eyes? How do they know where they are going?

I had one of those as well, it died. I was just a beginner at the time and in some aspects I still am.
