I went there for first time in May 2008. The traffic is very daunting for the first few days, but after that, I was confident to cross the road in that type of traffic condition.
The trick is make eye contact with the driver , steadily cross the road and do not make any sudden unpredictable movements.
Is there a traffic law? What do you think? God Lord, they just have a lot of people the DO have a law! what do you spect them to do? to tie people around trees so they dont travel and stuff? geez! they are not monkeys! hahahahahaha
btw amazing video! I wanna go there sometime and see this for myself! (:
great upload, too bad there are people who think our saigon brothers do not have a law! hahahaha dork (:
ya thats what i said after i went to bangkok. if that happened here in canada people would be fist fighting in the streets. you cut one person off here and they lose theyre mind
And now u see how good Vietnamese is. It's trivial if you have good traffic & no accident. Our traffic suck but there is still no accident =)) Vietnamese is the best driver in the world :))
Hi Nguyen, hello from Germany! Well, I thought this traffid situation would be only in the hiuge cities like Saigon and Hanoi but due to your comment it seems to be everywhere. Anyway, I enjoyed my vacations to Vietnam alot.
By the way, I do have a colleague, who was born and raised up in Hai Phong till the age of 6. This year it will be her first time to be back in her country and city.
well, Hai Phong is sort of a big city (population 1,700,000), and yes, the traffic is a bit better than Saigon. Tell your colleague to look at least eight ways before crossing the streets!
you're right, traffic is just as bad in small towns like phan thiet, da lat, nha trang, etc. you can see why vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, people all around the country always have something to do and somewhere to go. one thing about vietnam is that it is never sleepy.
Crazy!!!!!

o.k I will do so. We will be in the north of Vietnam in November this year. Maybe we have the chance to pass Hai Phong to see it by ourselves.
Take care,
