I have one colleague from America who is liberal but pretty smart, I get on with him very well. One thing that he has noticed is that he's always thought that as a liberal he has a kinder view of people than free market advocates but that when it comes to discussing the capability of man to achieve values in reality, his image of man is of a Peter keating while mine is Howard Roark.
uh yeah the "market rate" practically IS non-negotiable now. there's a mass "surplus" of labor. I don't see what there is to disagree with this.

thats a good insight i think. this type of moral/phycological reading might be more effective than trying to argue economics and numbers with people.
