  • I'm surprised it started, being from Aerolíneas Argentinas..

  • chuck norris hairdryer

  • 787, duh.

  • aiet, if you paused at 0:34, it looks like two fans, what thats for?!?!?!?!

  • @m88123ify search for a diagram of a turbofan engine, that should explain and answer ur question if my explanation doesn't. the "fan behind the main fan" is actually the passage to the bypass duct, which runs past the main engine and compressors. air that passes through the outer ring of the "second" fan go to the bypass, while the air passing through the inner ring goes through the compressors and is ignited with fuel to power the engine and the aircraft.

  • Grate start suond. i like the GECF6

  • Someone plz tell me what the noise is before they start the engine? Is it another engine running or is it something the pilot turns on before starting?

  • @Jabirupilot1

It's the auxiliary Unit that starts turning the big engine, like the starter of the car. The engine starts spinning the fan and then, when the fan has enough speed the ignition starts and the engine runs by itself.

  • @julesgymnast How To Speak What?

  • I guess in a Jumbo you have to keep the key in start position longer than in a car.

  • a broken jet engine aint loud

  • Aerolineas Argentinas!

    The King Of Skies

    No China Airlines,No American Airlines,No Qantas,No United,No Thai Airlines,No British,No Aeromexico

    NO

    Just Aerolineas Argentinas

    Aguante Aerolineas Argentinas.

    Quiero Ser PIloto De Aerolineas

I Want To Be An Aerolineas Argentinas Pilot

  • @XxSpyroKetchumxX buuahahahahaha

  • The 2nd engine has not been ignited.

  • Aerolineas (L)

  • Looks like my candy

  • Muy lindo video, me encanta el sonido que hacen esos motores a turbofan

Le hago una pregunta: ¿usted es piloto de los Boeing 747 en Aerolineas Argentinas?

Un saludo, gracias por el video

    Iván Kustin

  • climb inside, and thou shalt seek thou destiny

  • @IHI4ZZx Are you God?

  • i think its ramjet engine

  • @jjaivarun No, that is a turbofan.

  • i love that haha

  • the ones on the c17.. they are not so loud and beleve me,,, they are huuge!

  • @sergiobluesman Just a notice if no-one knows already, though it may be obvious to some, the engines appear to be big, but the fans are 3 or 4 times the diameter of the actual engine... but they're still amazing, the amount of thrust they produce!!

  • ı love it

  • Those were the most exciting 37 seconds of my life. OMG, thank you for this awesome video!!!

  • @dkF16GEA sarcasm?

  • @NOG1997 Take a guess...

  • @dkF16GEA yes??

  • @NOG1997 You're a sharp kid!

  • @dkF16GEA hahaha ok

  • if it didn't start could they call the auto club?

  • Is the compressor shaft independent from the front fan shaft of that engine?

  • @n310ea if i understand you correctly there is only one main shaft in these jet engines that connects the front fan the compressor blades and the turbine blades in the back. when fuel is injected in the combustion chamber it ignites and the energy takes the path of least resistance- out the back of the engine, and runs through turbine blades which are connected to the shaft and spins it, also spinning the front blades which brings in more air- its a chain reaction.

  • @puffaliciouschester the CF6 is a twin spool turbofan. the low pressure compressor comprises of the fan and the booster stage on a single shaft driven by a 4 stage low pressure turbine. The high pressure compressor is driven by the 2 stage high pressure turbine on the other shaft......

  • this aircraft is a Aerolineas Argentinas B747 475. this Engine is a ge cf6 80 Turbofan

  • Its a Aerolineas Argenteanis B747 400. Engine is a ge cf6 80 Turbofan

  • Love it. Great video... only it ends just a couple of seconds before the engine stopped accelerating and settled down to idle.

    Still, very good sound!

  • That is awesome!!!

  • the condor is the logo of aerolineas argentinas

  • there's a condor painted over the casing

  • it's either the company name, or it's bird hit count :D

  • Name a jet engine that isn't loud.

  • the a380s engine quitest engine noise ive ever heard on a commercial airliner.

  • @TheRabbitFear Judging from the cabin or?

  • Yeah obviously i really noticed the differnce when i flew to australia on an a380 then back on a 747.

  • @TheRabbitFear is that not just the double galzing?? lol

  • @TheRabbitFear 787 is quieter

  • @obsidiansdawn i myself like to hear an engine WORKING too. if its quiet id think we're screwed!

  • Usually Engines made by General Electric aren't.

  • @obsidiansdawn a fan

  • @obsidiansdawn a broken one!

  • @obsidiansdawn the 777-300 ge90 is very quiet on takeoff and has 115,000 lbs of thrust pretty hush hush for that much thrush huh

  • @obsidiansdawn

Wow you must be Stupid or just very Young!

    Jet Engines are........????

    Your NEW IS!!

    That THEY are NOT NEW!!

    Maybe LOUD to You!

    VERRY LESSSs LOUD NOW!

Better, More Fuel Efficient and LESS LOUD!!!!!

    mjcuracao

  • @obsidiansdawn no such thing

  • @obsidiansdawn Boeing 747-8 series (not louder than other comparable aircraft)

  • @obsidiansdawn my dick

  • @obsidiansdawn GE90

  • @obsidiansdawn The one thats not running

  • I know it is no longer the world biggest airliner, but the 747 is still bad but!!!!

  • this is a 747 475 aircraft. this aircraft has ge cf6 engines by AerolineasArgentinas

  • what is that, a British Airways?

  • Yes

  • @Genners111 BA uses RR not GE engines on their 747's

  • ok, thanks you

  • piojozo94 it is Aerolineas Argentinas, and plus Delta's blue color is a lot darker than that, but it is a PW4056 so good job

  • ese avion es un 747 de Aerolineas Argentinas, inconfundible.

  • it's a PW4056 engine of delta airlines

  • The video ended too quickly!

  • Comment removed

  • great! wanna step in front?? haha

  • Wanna step behind?

  • Its a Aerolineas Argenteanis B747 400. Engine is a PW 4056 Turbofan

  • That is definitely not a PW engine. That's a GE engine. You can tell by the lip of the intake as well as the shape of the engine. This is definitely a GE engine. The engine even sounds like the GE engine used for the -400, not the PW 4056.

  • Eso es Musica !!!

  • suction ,compresses and releases hot air with fuel.......

  • It looks like a GE engine, but it's certainly engine number 2 you're looking at!

  • haha u dont wanna be standing in front of it.. it gonna suck u in.. lmao

  • you dont want to be looking straight into it when its starting up..

  • around and around lol :P

  • That startup is faster than GE90 startup.....

  • Awesome sound!

  • great camera you got there

  • You mean GE...

  • These Are (GE) General Electric Engines

  • supeerr

  • i dont know why, but i love the sound on 0:15

  • I think that could be the bass.

  • oh baby!

  • Nice video and soud of 747 aerolineas argentinas, but they declared insolvent again

  • nice sound!

  • the 747-800 will take 200,000 lt and burn it off in 15 hrs great planes tho such power

  • its 747-8 not 747-800

  • Out of curiosity, what exactly is that humming sound that abruptly starts at :15?

  • thats when they put the fuel control switch to run. first they get the thing spinning with air , then when its spinnin as fast as it can with that air they turn the fuel on and ignition should happen within 20 sec.

  • I can smell the avtur

  • That's basically the same sound as when the engine starts at :07. It's just the engine spooling up until ready at a minimum of 20% N2 (which is the engine speed/heat/pressure etc.) then the fuel is injected, this video does not show the entire startup process.

  • its the fuel lighting of. since the engines at low speed combustion isn't ideal (think a blowtorch when its first lit) and it causes vibrations

  • 1 engine need 6 gallon just to startup if all engine combined to start the engine it need 24 gallon.

  • ...hey, could it spin around the other way

next time? i was getting dizzzzzeeeee.

  • someone should make a song made entirely from airplane engine sounds

  • u could compare the speed by looking at the white thing in the middle of the engine and see how slow was it before the engine started and after the engine started how fast was it

  • that's great i love this video because it's an aerolineas argentinas aircraft and i'm from Argentina!!!!!

  • Dale Argentina!

  • amazing! i love airplane engines

  • look at the speed of rotation!!!! and thats just for taxi!!!!! amazing

  • there are two sets of blades , compressor and turbine , the compresser is driven by a motor at start and compresses the air fuel mixture until it gets hot enough to start spinning the turbine , on most engines you'll know when the turbine starts

  • Suck squeeze bang blow!

  • this is the best and most concise explanation of a turbo fan engine I've ever seen... I'll never forget it. Thanks.

  • @stevengo99 Can you please not talk about my sex life on the internet ? lol :p

  • @stevengo99 Put em all together and what does it make?

  • @POTATOESLOL the almighty thrust

  • @stevengo99 Suck squeeze burn blow, lol.

  • @stevengo99 LOL

  • @stevengo99 its not a 4 stroke engine

  • @chocolatehearthammer does the same thing to the air.

  • @chocolatehearthammer ...uh...ok....

  • After packs are switched off and isolation valave set to zero and duct pressure verified engine start for ground can be switched.

Oil pressure increases and when the N2 reaches 25% or max motoring the start lever can be moved.

  • The APU is started by an electric motor or an external power source. This can either supply compressed air to the pneumatics manifold start the engines or by providing power to turn the electrical generators.

On the 737 air start is used to turn the N2 compressor, packs are kept off while APU is running to achieve over 30PSI on the duct pressure, this explains why AC is observed to briefly turn off before start up.

  • Who knows how the engine starts?..Is it just a burning fuel inside the engine as a full throat or something..Or there is an electrical engine that makes him to start up and then give an fuel?

  • hot gas spins the blades and fuel is fed into them.

  • a jet engine starts off air that is forced throw the turbine causing rotation ( running up the engine ) then after so many RPM's fuel and air is ignited and the engine takes off on its own power

  • thank you for information ;)

  • 747-400 Aerolineas Argentinas

    un groxo total!

  • number 2 engine hot start pratt&Whitney

    good shot

  • actually its a ge cf6

  • You could have at least jumped inside and given us a better view while risking your health/life/hair. How inconsiderate (being sarcastic)

  • ...haha...! Too true!

  • i love ge engines when i turn on my cell phone i want to hear that

  • haha even if you jump in the engine in reverse thrust, you'll still get sucked in (;

  • i wanna jump in it, while reverse thrust!!!

  • I want one for my bike

  • Quickly, powerful start in short time than car.

  • Is it a General Eetcric?

  • yes. it is a general eletric

  • LOL!!

  • unfortunatly we're not going to see many more engine start ups with the gas prices lol

  • I really want to throw my clothes into it...

  • Which airline does that 747 belong to?

  • aerolineas argentinas

  • Espectacular video amigo!!!!

  • that sound coming from those engines, is the sound of life, sound of a new clean beginning. All i can say is B.E.A.U.T.I.FUL!!!!

  • why would you say that? do i even know you? i hope you find love, and lose the hate one day. That's all. Peace

  • OK SORRY PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLIGISE

  • Apology accepted (: see how good it's to be nice {*_*} but why did you say things things about me anyways? lol

  • cause hes a dick

  • are these the CF6's? or the Pratt and Whitney's?

  • GE CF6

  • were you on the main deck or upper deck?

  • I was standing outside the finger, near the stairs.

  • Does the auxiliary power unit (onboard or overboard) have to be running in order to start engine?

  • Yes, air is needed for start. Can be either the APU or the GPU the one ho supply it.

  • The APU can be INOP and the pilot can still start the engines. The GPU is a ground power unit used for when the APU is off or INOP for when the plane is on the gate, or when the jetway power isnt on. I used to be a ramp rat for AA and we had what are called air start carts, with detroit diesel enginess in them, that supply air for starting the engines. You would get on the headset and the pilot would dry motor the engine, then tell you when to open the air valve, so the engine could start.

  • Cool. But what do you mean by "air"? Why does it need that? And what is a jetway? I am still a newbie.

  • Air is used to get the compressor and turbines turning before fuel is injected. And the jetway is the bridge that's used to connect the airplane entrance to the terminal. I'm sure that you've walked on one!

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • dude thats a sweet cam, nice footage so GJ!

  • you should have kept it on longer till they spooled up all the way

  • do NOT get sucked in that

  • that is sick!
