They really didn't need to show the game, it was already released in the Arcade for a year or two and was a hit. This was just advertising for it's Atari conversion.

I have an old Atari Club Magazin from 1984. There is a record from a german Centipede Atari 2600 Player (World Final).

Attention!!!The Score is: 297517 in 20 minutes. I dont think that the X-Box 360 and PS3 Player with her High-resolution-graphics can play this highscore today. Her hands are much to slow. Holy crap! I had that game, it was one of the few that worked great with the shitty non-centering controller the 5200 included. Still, I did end up getting a track-ball for it - but that's because even in my teens I was a bit of a purist.... aka, sucker!
