Interesting fact, during the "creation of the dragon soul" sequence, when Neltharion/Deathwing is speaking, you can hear Yogg-Saron speaking with him.

In fact, the whole scene would imply that Yogg-Saron had a hand (or tentacle) in corrupting Deathwing.

Current lore seems to point in a different direction, namely that it was all the work of this "N'zoth" character. Either we have a retcon or Yogg-Saron just likes taking credit for other people's work.

This explains why the faceless ones tried to kill Arthas during warcraft 3. Maybe Uther and Terenas knew what Yogg-Saron was trying to do, he was allowing the scourge to mine his blood, he affected the undead with out Arthas knowing. In order to prevent his plan working, Terenas and Uther convinced Tirion to create a new benevolent lich king to remain control
