Dimebag. Slash and Zakk are good but when it comes to originality just look up the solo to "The Sleep" and "10's" by Pantera. Dime put his whole heart into every solo and made songs interesting to listen to because he wasn't just walking the penatonic scale in a groove or throwing out pinch harmonics like Bibles in a Stryper concert. Everything was placed carefully and perfectly. To this day in MY OPINION, nobody has remotely came close to Dimebag's style nor technicalities. R.I.P.

Zakk is incredible guitar player (especially on an acoustic guitar!) and a good singer.

Dimebag. Slash and Zakk are good but when it comes to originality just look up the solo to "The Sleep" and "10's" by Pantera. Dime put his whole heart into every solo and made songs interesting to listen to because he wasn't just walking the penatonic scale in a groove or throwing out pinch harmonics like Bibles in a Stryper concert. Everything was placed carefully and perfectly. To this day in MY OPINION, nobody has remotely came close to Dimebag's style nor technicalities. R.I.P.

Maybe if you would have mentioned Don't Damn Me, Locomotive, or Get in the Ring to name a few but yeah... Slash is BY FAR the most overrated guitarist ever. he is, to put it nicely, crap. Dimebag was soooo much more original and talented than slash could ever dream to be. sure slash wrote some alrigfht songs, but his playing is not original at all. nobody could write riffs like dimebag. take "walk" or "floods" by pantera for example.

yea i know what you mean and walk had an amazing solo and so did floods some of my favorite solos are by dime. somination was a work of art but i think slash made some of the most amazing melodies and solos that were just blues and rock based without any use of speed for example november rain , estranged, the garden, dont cry and so on. but i do agree that slash cant shred like dime or zakk

to me, slash is just the stereotypical rock guitarist. he can play a pentatonic scale. so can I. so can just about anyone who ever played guitar. the reason people look up to slash so much is that he made the combination of blues and rock louder than eric clapton or tony iommi. thats it. and guess what: eddie van halen was louder. and a hell of a lot more fun to watch. you put slash next to joe satriani, dimebag darrell or eddie van halen and he looks like a little leaguer next to derek jeter.
