I Dr. Paul's comment was pretty clear: 16% of drug users are black, but 60% of those jailed for drug related offences are black- the fact that is that the justice system is putting blacks in jail is racist, not the man speaking out against it.

Look at portugal, after decriminalizing all drugs for a year, spendings on accommodating criminals had dropped by nearly half, and the death rate from heroin had dropped by nearly %30.. If someone needs a law to stop them from overdosing on heroin, they need help, not to be locked up in a prison cell for months only to walk out into the same world they just left

@fvalen001 Well, it would implement a whole new industry, the weed would most probably be mass produced and taxed just like cigarettes, except it would either become cheaper than it is now (no shipping or risk costs) or it would become much more expensive (taxes and general value to the consumer). States that legalize it would probably adopt the Amsterdam style coffee shop style, or just carry on using dispensaries. Also police will start fighting real criminals, not harmless stoners or farmers.

@fvalen001 No problem. I think the reason Weed is not included in many cases is because it is so popular as a recreational drug. Its less harmful than coffee and prescription drugs and there is also no actual proof that it kills brain cells. When it comes to weed, there is no war on drugs, but a competition between the non harmful, highly effective medicine (marijuana) and the pharmaceutical companies. Sadly the government can tax more on fossil fuels and prescription drugs....
@fvalen001 Despite the fact that oils from the plant can be used as a highly efficient, renewable source of fuel. Also no one has ever died from smoking weed, they may have got cancer from the tobacco they smoke with it but not one death in history has been directly linked to cannabis use... whereas painkillers like aspirin kill thousands of people yearly, same as other legal recreational drugs like alcohol. Sos for babbling, I just like to express my knowledge when i know its appreciated :)

@zdh789 Thanks, zdh789. I have dropped my addiction to cigarettes, and trying to completely drop alcohol. I think a good idea would be to legalize weed, and move tobacco and alcohol out of the stores, and have it's own dispensaries (and/or bars) along with weed. All the arguments for weed are valid, and I believe we should have this freedom without the criminal element, however, I'd like to see booze, cigs, and weed out of supermarkets and convenient stores. That would be a better world.

All of the government spending, bail-outs, and the welfare system needs to be revised. He has put our country in more debt than any other previous president. If you type in government debt clock, look at the national debt in 2008 compared to now. I would vote for Ron paul also if I could, but i'm only 15...

I Dr. Paul's comment was pretty clear: 16% of drug users are black, but 60% of those jailed for drug related offences are black- the fact that is that the justice system is putting blacks in jail is racist, not the man speaking out against it.

I was beginning to consider Ron Paul as a candidate to vote for until others pointed out other aspects I should look into about him being racist, I looked into the "newsletters" & found that the offensive material was written by Lew Rockwell. He did sign off on them, but I still don't think he's truly racist. I'm still doing research, but all in all I don't find him to be racist.

Look at portugal, after decriminalizing all drugs for a year, spendings on accommodating criminals had dropped by nearly half, and the death rate from heroin had dropped by nearly %30.. If someone needs a law to stop them from overdosing on heroin, they need help, not to be locked up in a prison cell for months only to walk out into the same world they just left

@fvalen001 Well, it would implement a whole new industry, the weed would most probably be mass produced and taxed just like cigarettes, except it would either become cheaper than it is now (no shipping or risk costs) or it would become much more expensive (taxes and general value to the consumer). States that legalize it would probably adopt the Amsterdam style coffee shop style, or just carry on using dispensaries. Also police will start fighting real criminals, not harmless stoners or farmers.

@fvalen001 No problem. I think the reason Weed is not included in many cases is because it is so popular as a recreational drug. Its less harmful than coffee and prescription drugs and there is also no actual proof that it kills brain cells. When it comes to weed, there is no war on drugs, but a competition between the non harmful, highly effective medicine (marijuana) and the pharmaceutical companies. Sadly the government can tax more on fossil fuels and prescription drugs....

@fvalen001 Despite the fact that oils from the plant can be used as a highly efficient, renewable source of fuel. Also no one has ever died from smoking weed, they may have got cancer from the tobacco they smoke with it but not one death in history has been directly linked to cannabis use... whereas painkillers like aspirin kill thousands of people yearly, same as other legal recreational drugs like alcohol. Sos for babbling, I just like to express my knowledge when i know its appreciated :)

@zdh789 Thanks, zdh789. I have dropped my addiction to cigarettes, and trying to completely drop alcohol. I think a good idea would be to legalize weed, and move tobacco and alcohol out of the stores, and have it's own dispensaries (and/or bars) along with weed. All the arguments for weed are valid, and I believe we should have this freedom without the criminal element, however, I'd like to see booze, cigs, and weed out of supermarkets and convenient stores. That would be a better world.

The "poorest blacks" in the USA are wealthier and better cared for than any other "blacks" in the world. The fact is, taxpayers fund the poors housing, food, and medical care. We can barely afford to take care of the poor of our own country, but we still do it.
