i've been to london 3 times but a couple of months ago i finally managed to visit the british museum. i had to leave the marbles exhibition room within a minute 'cause i was to proud to start crying in there. in louvre, years ago, i burst into tears facing the niki of samothraki statue.
i think it's ok if museums around the world have samples of our civilization like pots, coins or figurines. we store those in boxes anyway, right?
A new global attempt so that Greece will take back the stolen marbles has started.

@judyroodi learn well your history before you talk. simply by stating that the marbles of Parthenon are a 'pile of rocks', show your level of mentality and education.
And know that: that all of your British History is based on crusades againtst other nations, stealls, loots and murder....shame on you...
Well, judging that they are charging an entrance fee of €9 at that new Parthenon Museum in Athens, whereas at the British Museum entrance is free, I say it stays in the British Museum.
It is so ignorant to say that the greek nation is greedy, while Britain once ''owned''(=slaughtered natives and stole as much as it could)1/4 of the world?Check your dictionary before writing comments. And money is far different from culture and art,so don't mix them up in your mind(which must be the size of a raisin).
You were the first to insult a person,Melina Merkouri herself,by not paying attention to what this video is about,.And as this was not enough, you go on insulting a whole nation. The only thing I regret is ''feeding'' a troll like you.Next time you come back checking for answers, watch what you are posting on this message board. This perpetration of an idiotism of yours does not belong in here.If you are clever and superior, you have to prove it.And this impromptu speech of yours does not help.
Greece is a pathetic basket case of a country, how does it feel to be a nation of irresponsible beggars? How does it feel to be in a position where your worthless country only continues to exist on the charity you can beg from Europe? Beg Europe for more money before you start begging Britain for some sculptures do you people know no shame?
this comes from country that only when they butchered half of the world, enslaved half afrika, only then they put the word justice in their vocabulary and talk about justice. The parthenon is this symbol, the symbol of justice and democracy, with money u cant buy culture so u stole
read the poem of ur own Lord ByroN "Curse of Minerva" were he states he is ashamed for his country of thieves of the most important symbol of the world.
at least in athens a master who mistreated a slave could be prosecuted by any citizen, the rape of slaves was against the law and was considered hubris plus slaves were often bonded with their master and refused to leave, even in this bad thing as slavery we had descency while u 1500 yrars later were still treating them cruel n treat them like animals
what did u learn from byron? tell me, if u have learned anything u would give back our marbles and apologise for the vandalisation of parthenon.
People it's not necessary to curse each other..The truth is that Lord Elgin stole the marbles and this action is not right but that doesn't mean that all English people are like that..There are actually English people who support the option that the marbles should return back in Greece..And we the Greek people feel disappointed cause the Parthenon is a unique masterpiece and it's a pitty that is half destroyed .
MikoLinux FUCK YOU THE MARBLES BELONG TO GREECE TO THEIR HOUSE..OF COURSE...YOU ARE...THIEVES YOU DESTROY A GREEK UNIQUE MONUMENT........!YOU HAVE NO CULTURE!

The jet engine is British I DEMAND YOU REMOVE ALL JET ENGINES FROM GREEK aeroplanes DO IT NOW you are all technically INCAPABLE RETARDED barbarians YOU HAVE NO place in the MODERN WORLD, DIE you evil BAGS OF SHIT see I have learned to speak Greek hahahahahahaha!!!
And about the engines..no any engine would be known now from your barbaric country, if there wasn't GREECE to show you the way via OUR ANCIENT GREEK TECHNOLOGY! So, close your mouth and open your mind!
Say "THANK YOU GREEKS for transform us from animals to human beings" and shut up! Everything is GREEK! We started, we discovered, and you stole us! RACIST ANIMAL!
hello there tigerwa, am i talking to a human being??? if so, i will only ask this: why all this fanatisism against us??? this issue is OURS! wishing for people to die for an issue that actually doen't even consider you, makes barbarians look like saints!!! every comment of yours is so unacceptable!!!
You think it is a sign of barbarism to appreciate artistic treasures from around the world? I think I will just have to accept the fact that you are a mentally unstable xenophobe and stop communicating with you, have a nice life crying about your sculptures, they will never be sent to Athens, and people like you are the reason for that being the case.
You NOT appreciating them is a sign of barbarism, what with pitting them all together stripped of all their significance.
I agree that it's best to depart when name calling is the only thing left to employ....
And don't call me a xenophobe, I never visited a Brit's channel to call his country silly and his people inferior because they supposedly haven't done anything of worth since time immemorial.Which, btw is not the case as shown above.
Who gave you OUR GREEK TREASURES THIEVES? Who gives you the right to keep the Parthenon marbles, just to sell tickets in your misarable museum? Which without OUR treasures would be EMPTY, cause you have no history!
The GREEK treasure will retun to GREECE! We will get them you like it or not!! YOU ENGLISH THIEVES OF HISTORY get your own history and leave OUR TREASURES ALONE! BARBARIANS!
i really don't want to get into abusing and offensive conversations...but i wanna ask you something...do you feel proud that someone from your country stoled the marbles..and your country put them in a museum?? and even they admit that they are Greek...they don't give them back... i have nothing agaist england and it's people...but this is undemocratic... the world owes to greeks many thing.but greeks don't ask nothing else than what is their..
you forget the miracle of hagia sophia witth is perfect dome, that cant be mimicked.
you forget that in the 11cen BC the hellenised eastern roman empire was the greatest power in the western and middleeastern world
you forget that in the late 14th cen the greeks that were evading constantinople and mystras brought knowledge to venice that boosted the whole renaissance movement.
please study a bit more before you get this condemning.
@tigerwa and who the fuck are you to say that the sculptures will never be returned?are they your property?have you purchased them or have you just stolen them and kept them in england just to have a great attraction in your empty otherwise museums and make a few bucks with that...?they will be sent back and there's nothing you can't do!art is universal and can be appreciated by everybody, but when art means so much to a nation you have no right to keep them...!
Who is the audience?Who is the jury?Who has to be shown something?
Classical Athens itself didn't rule the world and was finally browbeaten into submission by Sparta. Does that mean that its Golden Age was insignificant? I bet that their contemporary barbaric savages of the British Isles would think the same and that's what prevents me from adopting that attitude.
Try stopping the Arabs in the 9th century and provoking the Renaissance in the 15th by the migration of Greek scholars to the West.
@Craftsman2002 you know that 90% of the engish words you say are greek right? like kiss,ok.,disaster and soooo many others words...so dont say what does greece have to show for the last 2000 thousand years...when greeks wrote psilosophy y didnt know how to fish...and today we might be as we are...but the marbles still belong to us xD
It's none of your business what we do in Greece! You are not our Goverment to judge us! Get your own english marbles (if you have any barbarians) and let the GREEK ONES to go back HOME! It's not yours! Put your ugly Museum where the sun doesn't shine!
@tigerwa have you ever heard of the byzantium or is it smth insignificant for you???but i guess compared to the great british empire who slaughtered all the scottish and irish people,an empire who owned and ruled half europe and middle east for a thousand years is nothing...and i guess you've never heard of greek philosophers, writters, artists etc through all these years, but i take that for granted since you don't even know the history of your own nation...why would you know universal history...?
@tigerwa what does concern the return of the Parthenon Marbles? I m wondering... but if you want an answer about what Greece have to show the last 2000 years I m telling you that the most words around the world and especially english are GREEK all the words in astronomy, medicine, architecture, maths are GREEK! and this is a huge achievement for humanity for EVER friend
@tigerwa you are joking right? :) you are either joking or ignorant... if you are commenting on this matter i consider you educated and intelligent, so you are not ignorant. therefore you must be joking... let me bring it to you in a simple way. what did athens show in the olympics of 2004? what did beijing show in 2008? should i be expecting more by london in 2012? if you think greece hasnt shown anything during the last 2000 years what has britain shown ever?
@tigerwa and lets accept that greece has something to show even though its more than 2000 years old.... since britain has nothing to show (since the british museum only has artifacts from other cultures), what gives them the right to take our marbles? so ask this question to yourself instead of asking what greece has shown during the last 2000 years. WHAT HAS BRITAIN EVER SHOWN? let us know for our pride ourselves... we know what it means, its hard for you to understand obviously...
@tigerwa and if you think that greece doesnt have history i will tell you something... do you know anything about the greek revolution that started in 1821 and ended in 1830? arent there artifacts from there? do you know anything about byzantine history? yeah, it started by being a roman empire... what language and what religion ruled at the fall of the byzantine empire? do you know about mystras? do you know about any of the culture passed on in the islands during the 400 years of slavery?
@tigerwa so yes my friend, greece has a lot to show during the last 2000 years. even my grandfathers weapon when fighting in the second world war is a historical artifact. our significant 3 national holidays are regarding historical days which werent even 200 years ago... we are proud for our history... even though there may not be many artifacts, greek history survives in our minds and in our hearts... thats what matters and thats what you will never understand... our history is our freedom...
The Marbles being in the British museum has nothing to do with my legacy, that is where you are going wrong again it is the legacy of Lord Elgin, My legacy is for myself to make and not for my ancestors. Greece has no pride in itself all it has is its once glorious past to look at and that it all your people have to build their personal pride on, that is quite sad. There is no cost to anyone for holding on to the marbles, the museum is totally free for everyone and anyone who wants to visit it.
I was wrong indeed, about the use of the word legacy that it. What I mean was your inheritance, and Elgin's vandalism does constitute a part of that, to my dismay and your disgrace.
@Craftsman2002 Nope you are very wrong, I am just a private British citizen I have no influence over the British museum and to say that I should be personally held responsible for something a lord did over 200 years ago does not sound very fair does it?
Perhaps you are just bitter and insane and do not give a fuck about fairness or logic.
You talk about history? You dare to talk about history and judge us? THIEVES AND BARBARIANS! Your museum without the GREEK stolen treasures would be empty! Cause you have nothing to show to the rest world about history! Enjoy it as much as it last.. The GREEK marbles belong to US!Not to you THIEVES!
the Assyrian lion hunt relief, the colossal winged bull from the palace of sargon II, almost everything in the Egyptian collection the Museum amongst other things, if you were not so pathetically narrow minded you would see that for yourselves.
And how could these artifacts ever hold a candle to the Parthenon marbles? Are you so entrenched in your barbaric mentality that you fail to understand that "lion hunt reliefs" and "winged bulls" cannot compare to "the full assembly of the Olympian gods, leaders and ordinary men celebrate the festival dedicated to the first democracy of the world".
Also one of the most important things about the British museum is that you can compare works of art from across the world in one building, when you look at the panicle of Greek art and science and compare them to that of the Chinese, the Indians and the Persians you can see it was in fact nothing special.
Tigerwa you are growing delirious.....this particle you are talking about may well be the only surviving works of Phedias, whom was thought to be the best in the period of the best, the classical one. The British museum knows its value, that's why it holds onto them...so try your "no big deal" argument elsewhere.
If you do want to insist in your drivel, name the artifacts you draw a comparison with the Parthenon marbles....Just so that we can laugh while having a chat :P

The sad truth is Greece has been a scientific and cultural backwater for the last 2000 years, it is nice that you have a respect for the past though the fact that your silly fascist country cant move on from it is somewhat pathetic really.
I point out the Greek words so as to show that the Greek contribution to the world isn't like the UK top chart, gone after a few months. You would be unable to speak in any depth should they were omitted - in any website that is.
My main argument to your own about "2000 years" is it's reversal: Nothing can compare to inspiring the world for so long....
Now your taking refuge in profanity doesn't really need an answer. Just "know your place" ;)
PLUS AS A REPLY TO tigerna I would advice him to buy the OXFORD Dictonary and check his language.
51.807 "english words " are greek ,are greek mate ,no english ,greek .We are the first who gave a meaning to so many concepts such as music ( mousiki) ,democracy ( demokratia ) and you know these mean something in greek .
So if you had this civilasion ,the most important and ancient in Europe ,you would think twice to say all these.Go and learn history cause you do not seem to know !
No, that would be Romans, and ancient, well, that could be almost anyone. Certainly the british/irish in 3000BC were far more technically advanced than the greeks of that time.
Inspiration is nice, it is a shame your silly county has not taken anything from it, you have made no advancements in 2000 years, Athens was once a nice city and now it is an ugly concrete shithole it looks like a eastern European peasant town, which essentially is what it is. All you have is your past, Greece has no future it has had nothing since the roman conquest. Greece is utterly insignificant in the modern world, if that is the legacy of your great past, then frankly you can keep it.
And what is your legacy? One of plundering ancient temples and then holding onto them on the grounds of superiority in the present? You can of course keep them but it will be at a growing cost: People all across the world realizing who the short man is in the syndrome with the same name ;)

Greek philosophy and science was interesting 2000 years ago though things have moved on since in the rest of the world it is pathetic that you cant name a single Greek who has had any global significance in the last two whole millennia. Why do you keep pointing out every Greek word that you use while you are writing on a English language website?
Look up the Top Ten Physicists of all time. Four british, no greeks. Top Ten Chemists? Two british, no greeks. Top Ten biologists? Three british, no greeks.
Inventor of the Scientific Method? Francis Bacon, Most influential scientist? Isaac Newton. Second most influential? Charles Darwin. Third? Michael Faraday.
Again, you get the picture....greece hasn't been important for intellectual thought for over 2000 years. Please live in the modern world, and know your place.
No it wasn't, thats a myth. The earliest references to democracy come from ancient India in the 6th century BC. Ancient Sumeria also had dmeocratic principalities. Not to mention many other communities around the world, all of who never had any contact with the greeks. In ancient Athens with a population of 250,000, only 30,000 could vote. Hardly a 'democracy'. The 1st true democracies were New Zealand and the Isle of Man, which gave women the vote. Both BRITISH.
As you well know, britain made the modern world. It spread democracy, human rights and the rule of law around the planet, gave birth to 57 current democratic nations, and is responsible for most of the technological advancement of the past 3 centuries.
How many democracies has greece created recently? How many sciences has it developed in the past 2000 years? Great scientists this century?
See what I mean?
Britain gave you the life and rights you currently enjoy, so be thankful to them.
Best country? Half your country doesn't have electricity, and you were ruled by the turks for almost 500 years. You've had no impact on the world since 1453. Please stop pretending you're a great country, it's just insane. You are a small, poor, socially backward eastern-european nation with a 'short man' complex.
Oh, and as for 'the marbles must be returned' - make them. The brits developed nuclear weapons, perhaps if you did then you could threaten them effectively....
Well...Bacon brought about The Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution, and the modern world.
Aristotle, on the other hand, was wrong in almost every scientific statement he made. Surely you know that, right? Newton DESTROYED aristotle with a few simple mathematical calculations, done over a 2-month period.
Newton without Plato? What has plato got to do with Newton? They are not connected in any way, I mean are you on drugs or something?
And the modern olympics (which have nothing to do with the greek olympics, which were based on cheating, violence and greed) come from BRITAIN, specifically, The Wenlock Olympian Society Annual Games, first held in 1850 - Pierre de Coubertin visited them in 1890, and formed the international olympic commitee based on their rules and standards.
Oh, and if the greeks aren't in London then good, because it means that the nation with the HIGHEST PERCENTAGE OF CHEATING ATHLETES won't be there. LOL
I asked what democracy means? Or you are telling me that Oxford Dictionary is crap and you are perfect ?Is your own dictionary who states that 51807 words ,english words are greek origin .Go and buy it .The rest are latin most of them .
So no matter what you say ,this is written .Sorry.
Only an illiterate would say that philosophy has nothing to do with science.....I mean, are you twelve or what?
Socrates wasn't mentioned cause we have no extant works of him, do we now?The Renaissance was brought about by the rediscovering of Platonic philosophy. Without it there would be no Enlightenment and no Bacon.... If the Greeks shun your Olympics, the media are going to bury you deeper than oil....
You said "make them". I'm just saying' we 'll do exactly that ;)
Actually, I'm a scientist, hence I know I'm talking about. And I have no qualification in philosophy, nor is it on any curriculum necessary for any physical science.
Philosophy is the study of general problems concerning matters such as existence, knowledge, truth, beauty, law, justice, validity, mind, and language. It is NOT anything to do with science in it's modern form. Bacon seperated the two concepts, permanently, which is why he is the most important person in history. And I'm IRISH.
And what do you think I am, a grocer? Well, if Bacon did separate the two, pray tell us what epistemology is (another fine Greek word there) and what Popper's got to do with it. Cause last time I checked, the definition of science was a part of epistemology, that is a part of philosophy.
It takes Aristotelian logic to deduce this, so I guess you are excused.....
go and read history mate not the fabricated knowledge you kearn in uk and Irish schools .
I live here and I know how fabricated everything is .
Science begins from philosophy and this is from a person who also studies science !As far as for Bacon I would advice you to look further back to Greeks and Hypocrates ???????
The ancient greeks use deductive reasoning; this is nothing to do with modern (Baconian) sciece, which is inductive. Aristotle, for example believed that objects that are heavier fall faster than objects that are lighter, and that objects that are similar attract each other (i.e. stones fall to earth faster than leaves because stones are made of rock, like the earth). This is, obviously, completely insane nonsense. They were not scientists in any modern sense.
The greeks believed they could get knowledge from the world by mere logic, without the need to experiment. They could have proved Aristotle wrong by a simple childs experiment of dropping two stones of different weights, but they didn't. EXPERIMENT beats logic every time, which is why in the two centuries after Bacon we had Newton, the enlightenment, the industrial revolution, and here we are using machines to communicate across the planet, just like he predicted. The Greek method was flawed...
Lots of fabricated knowledge about politics arts and everything. If you are Irish you should not ask how English people bend the truth for Ireland .........
I understand that we do have opposite opinions and I will leave it here.Besides what counts is not what you and myself say ,but the history and history of science.
The Parthenon Marbles are Greek and must return to their home... They're not British and they have no right to keep them in the British museum... The Parthenon Marbles must return to Athens, where they belong.
These words of Melina's may have fallen on deaf ears, but they deserve to be heard . It is time for the Parthenon Sculptures to be reunited and for cooperative international cultural relations to win through , by making right what has been wrong for far too long. Zoe O' Connor
I apologies as a tax payer and a British citizen that these fragmented sculptures were not returned for the opening of Greece's new museum. The falling visitor numbers to the Duveen Gallery is a testament of the fact that the majority of British people think its disrespectful to hang onto these sculptures in the name of universality. The Brtish Museum sadly is incapable of understanding thedifference between legality and legitimacy! Here's to the future.
When will Greece return all it has stolen from Macedonia?
Grece occupied half of the Macedonian land by force, it conducted genocide against Macedonians living there, it appropriated history. Today Greece sponsors a campaign of theft and destruction of artefacts from the Republic of Macedonia.
Funny you say that Scopjan, considering "Macedonia" is a Greek word.
Also considering that all Greek exhibits of Macedonia have Greek words on 'em!
You people, one and all live in an educational vacuum. Build yourselves a proper university so as to learn that the namers of things cannot be deprived of their own language.
Little hypocrites that you are.....sad.
And don't comment on irrelevant videos!! There are enough places to push your propaganda elsewhere in the page....

i've been to london 3 times but a couple of months ago i finally managed to visit the british museum. i had to leave the marbles exhibition room within a minute 'cause i was to proud to start crying in there. in louvre, years ago, i burst into tears facing the niki of samothraki statue.
i think it's ok if museums around the world have samples of our civilization like pots, coins or figurines. we store those in boxes anyway, right?
but some things NEED to be in their motherland

@judyroodi learn well your history before you talk. simply by stating that the marbles of Parthenon are a 'pile of rocks', show your level of mentality and education.
And know that: that all of your British History is based on crusades againtst other nations, stealls, loots and murder....shame on you...

The parthenon is this symbol, the symbol of justice and democracy, with money u cant buy culture so u stole
read the poem of ur own Lord ByroN "Curse of Minerva" were he states he is ashamed for his country of thieves of the most important symbol of the world.

at least in athens a master who mistreated a slave could be prosecuted by any citizen, the rape of slaves was against the law and was considered hubris plus slaves were often bonded with their master and refused to leave, even in this bad thing as slavery we had descency while u 1500 yrars later were still treating them cruel n treat them like animals
what did u learn from byron? tell me, if u have learned anything u would give back our marbles and apologise for the vandalisation of parthenon.
dimalex8 2 years ago 7
@dimalex8 just to clarify one important point, I did not vandalise the Parthenon.

slaves could accuse someone to court, the master represended with his own money the slave in court.
Plus we never made war for slavery, majority of them were persians captured by greeks in greco-persian wars

Classical Athens itself didn't rule the world and was finally browbeaten into submission by Sparta. Does that mean that its Golden Age was insignificant? I bet that their contemporary barbaric savages of the British Isles would think the same and that's what prevents me from adopting that attitude.
Try stopping the Arabs in the 9th century and provoking the Renaissance in the 15th by the migration of Greek scholars to the West.

aquax1908 1 year ago 2
@tigerwa and lets accept that greece has something to show even though its more than 2000 years old.... since britain has nothing to show (since the british museum only has artifacts from other cultures), what gives them the right to take our marbles? so ask this question to yourself instead of asking what greece has shown during the last 2000 years. WHAT HAS BRITAIN EVER SHOWN? let us know for our pride ourselves... we know what it means, its hard for you to understand obviously...
aquax1908 1 year ago 2
@tigerwa and if you think that greece doesnt have history i will tell you something... do you know anything about the greek revolution that started in 1821 and ended in 1830? arent there artifacts from there? do you know anything about byzantine history? yeah, it started by being a roman empire... what language and what religion ruled at the fall of the byzantine empire? do you know about mystras? do you know about any of the culture passed on in the islands during the 400 years of slavery?
aquax1908 1 year ago 2
@tigerwa so yes my friend, greece has a lot to show during the last 2000 years. even my grandfathers weapon when fighting in the second world war is a historical artifact. our significant 3 national holidays are regarding historical days which werent even 200 years ago... we are proud for our history... even though there may not be many artifacts, greek history survives in our minds and in our hearts... thats what matters and thats what you will never understand... our history is our freedom...
aquax1908 1 year ago
The Marbles being in the British museum has nothing to do with my legacy, that is where you are going wrong again it is the legacy of Lord Elgin, My legacy is for myself to make and not for my ancestors. Greece has no pride in itself all it has is its once glorious past to look at and that it all your people have to build their personal pride on, that is quite sad. There is no cost to anyone for holding on to the marbles, the museum is totally free for everyone and anyone who wants to visit it.

the Assyrian lion hunt relief, the colossal winged bull from the palace of sargon II, almost everything in the Egyptian collection the Museum amongst other things, if you were not so pathetically narrow minded you would see that for yourselves.
tigerwa 2 years ago
And how could these artifacts ever hold a candle to the Parthenon marbles? Are you so entrenched in your barbaric mentality that you fail to understand that "lion hunt reliefs" and "winged bulls" cannot compare to "the full assembly of the Olympian gods, leaders and ordinary men celebrate the festival dedicated to the first democracy of the world".
Craftsman2002 2 years ago
Also one of the most important things about the British museum is that you can compare works of art from across the world in one building, when you look at the panicle of Greek art and science and compare them to that of the Chinese, the Indians and the Persians you can see it was in fact nothing special.
tigerwa 2 years ago
Tigerwa you are growing delirious.....this particle you are talking about may well be the only surviving works of Phedias, whom was thought to be the best in the period of the best, the classical one. The British museum knows its value, that's why it holds onto them...so try your "no big deal" argument elsewhere.
If you do want to insist in your drivel, name the artifacts you draw a comparison with the Parthenon marbles....Just so that we can laugh while having a chat :P

No, that would be Romans, and ancient, well, that could be almost anyone. Certainly the british/irish in 3000BC were far more technically advanced than the greeks of that time.
FactualTruthProvider 2 years ago
Inspiration is nice, it is a shame your silly county has not taken anything from it, you have made no advancements in 2000 years, Athens was once a nice city and now it is an ugly concrete shithole it looks like a eastern European peasant town, which essentially is what it is. All you have is your past, Greece has no future it has had nothing since the roman conquest. Greece is utterly insignificant in the modern world, if that is the legacy of your great past, then frankly you can keep it.

'Democracy was born in Greece'
No it wasn't, thats a myth. The earliest references to democracy come from ancient India in the 6th century BC. Ancient Sumeria also had dmeocratic principalities. Not to mention many other communities around the world, all of who never had any contact with the greeks. In ancient Athens with a population of 250,000, only 30,000 could vote. Hardly a 'democracy'. The 1st true democracies were New Zealand and the Isle of Man, which gave women the vote. Both BRITISH.
maureenOWW 2 years ago
As you well know, britain made the modern world. It spread democracy, human rights and the rule of law around the planet, gave birth to 57 current democratic nations, and is responsible for most of the technological advancement of the past 3 centuries.
How many democracies has greece created recently? How many sciences has it developed in the past 2000 years? Great scientists this century?
See what I mean?
Britain gave you the life and rights you currently enjoy, so be thankful to them.

Oh, and as for 'the marbles must be returned' - make them. The brits developed nuclear weapons, perhaps if you did then you could threaten them effectively....

Firstly, what is Bacon next to Aristotle?
And where Newton be without Plato?
There, two names, the entire corpus of philosophy drawing on their genius.
Add to that your Greek vocabulary, from problem to physicists, chemists and biologists ROFL.
Then consider the outrage of your Olympics being the first of all time that will be shunned by their creators.
And then come and say hello....
Craftsman2002 2 years ago
Well...Bacon brought about The Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution, and the modern world.
Aristotle, on the other hand, was wrong in almost every scientific statement he made. Surely you know that, right? Newton DESTROYED aristotle with a few simple mathematical calculations, done over a 2-month period.
Newton without Plato? What has plato got to do with Newton? They are not connected in any way, I mean are you on drugs or something?
maureenOWW 2 years ago
And the modern olympics (which have nothing to do with the greek olympics, which were based on cheating, violence and greed) come from BRITAIN, specifically, The Wenlock Olympian Society Annual Games, first held in 1850 - Pierre de Coubertin visited them in 1890, and formed the international olympic commitee based on their rules and standards.
Oh, and if the greeks aren't in London then good, because it means that the nation with the HIGHEST PERCENTAGE OF CHEATING ATHLETES won't be there. LOL

The greeks also promoted anal sex, but you didn't bring that up, did you? Stay on topic.
maureenOWW 2 years ago
Only an illiterate would say that philosophy has nothing to do with science.....I mean, are you twelve or what?
Socrates wasn't mentioned cause we have no extant works of him, do we now?The Renaissance was brought about by the rediscovering of Platonic philosophy. Without it there would be no Enlightenment and no Bacon.... If the Greeks shun your Olympics, the media are going to bury you deeper than oil....
You said "make them". I'm just saying' we 'll do exactly that ;)
Craftsman2002 2 years ago
Actually, I'm a scientist, hence I know I'm talking about. And I have no qualification in philosophy, nor is it on any curriculum necessary for any physical science.
Philosophy is the study of general problems concerning matters such as existence, knowledge, truth, beauty, law, justice, validity, mind, and language. It is NOT anything to do with science in it's modern form. Bacon seperated the two concepts, permanently, which is why he is the most important person in history. And I'm IRISH.
maureenOWW 2 years ago
And what do you think I am, a grocer? Well, if Bacon did separate the two, pray tell us what epistemology is (another fine Greek word there) and what Popper's got to do with it. Cause last time I checked, the definition of science was a part of epistemology, that is a part of philosophy.
It takes Aristotelian logic to deduce this, so I guess you are excused.....
Sorry, my mistake....Irish you are then.
Craftsman2002 2 years ago
go and read history mate not the fabricated knowledge you kearn in uk and Irish schools .
I live here and I know how fabricated everything is .
Science begins from philosophy and this is from a person who also studies science !As far as for Bacon I would advice you to look further back to Greeks and Hypocrates ???????
If this was not science you think Bacon was ?
Pure littleman!Read history
musicfangt 2 years ago
You're an ignorant halfwit.

And can I ask what 'fabricated knowledge' you learned at school?
FactualTruthProvider 2 years ago
Lots of fabricated knowledge about politics arts and everything. If you are Irish you should not ask how English people bend the truth for Ireland .........
I understand that we do have opposite opinions and I will leave it here.Besides what counts is not what you and myself say ,but the history and history of science.
So leave it there.

We only have opposite opinions because you are wrong. I'm not stating my OPINION, I am stating facts, please look them up if you don't believe me.

Shame on you Greece!
