I was going to go to Pony Club Rally at Kentucky Horse Park this year but my trainer wouldn't let me practice on the horse I was supposed to take and he has a hard time jumping, even though we were only gonna jump 12 in. I didn't want to go if I had no practice.

i show there, its a really fun experience and in my divisions there was over 75 people in each class. Its a big show and the competition is BIG! and it also is very expensivee. lol but other then that its so much fun. =)

i love shows. even though i find it weird when some horses get to shows and start being butt-heads!!! i'll never forget my 1st show on this thoroughbred "keltie" and jeeze was he a mad-man! it was suppose to b pleasure but he was racin the other horses, buckin and i almost fell off! i got a 2n and a 6th on him but i wa close to elemination. that didnt stop me 4rm showing again even though i drastically though about quitting. i was so embarassed. btw stupidblonde428a i love ur name! lol

All I want to say is that if you start riding, and it feels like it gets too hard, try to ride it out. Never give up. I almost backed out of a show recently and I'm really glad I didn't. I placed in all my classes and didn't place lower than third. I even placed first in my Equitation, which I thought sucked. It really is a fun sport. The horses are great. Just never give up.

gf1200: Well you have to realize. These are $500,000+ horses. Because they are showing at literally THE top level, they pay people to braid their horses and take care of them so they are sleek, shiny and ready to show. The groomers do it by profession so of course they are going to do a better job then the riders.

HORSEGIRL987: You should show. It is so much fun. But just because you jump doesnt mean you are going to do showjumping. There is more then showjumping and dressage in equestrian. For jumping you can do hunters, jumpers, eventing.  Usually when people think dressage is boring, that means you are pretty young. As you get older it will get less boring. Sooner or later you will need to do dressage. Atleast in lessons.

wow, umm i do hunters and what u r sayinf, doctercane is truley and untterly wrong. Hunters is an amazing sport that takes sheer raw talent and hours or building a strong bond with your horse. please think before you put down another sport like u just have again because u dont have a clue what u r talking about.

yeah we have. I am not a fan of Frank Madden though. I hate hunter trainers because most of them follow a basic set of loose techniques. My daughter trains with an Olympic trainer so the technicality we get is far superior to what Madden teaches. Brianne is talented though.

Keep working and you can get there. We compete there every year. Its a zoo. 6000 horses and competitors. It is an awesome show, but to get around you have to have a cart just to go from the stable to the arenas. Ugh.
