  • I was conceived on a Saturday afternoon in 1963

  • I was born on a Saturday afternoon in 1963...

  • Beautiful. I loved this one the moment that I first heard it.

  • I thought music has to be something more. Now i know: sometimes less is more.

  • I've always loved this song, ever since I first heard it playing in school..a teacher brought it class

  • No one compares to Rickie...she is one of a kind! :)

  • Just last night the song was played at the end of the Lifetime TV show "the Protector."

  • It was used in the film "Little Darlings" with Tatum O'Neal, Kristy McNichol, Matt Dillon and Kristen Davis

  • Dr House send me here

  • I Also found it on dr.House...Thanks for that!

    I Cried.

    Awesome Song!

  • Thumbs up if House MD brought you here!

  • I searched "hold on to your special friend"

I pretty much thought it was RLJ

    -

I love the song. I was shocked to see the

    Chicago/Northwestern connection.

    But happy about it.

    So, thank you.

Left brain/right brain we can still love better than our computers.

  • Music for the soul. Rickie Lee Jones is a gem.

  • I heard Tori Amos sing this song in concert back in 2003 in Seattle. Incredible!

  • When "Chuck E's in Love" came out, this was the "B Side" of the 45 rpm record (also know as 7 inch.) I'm glad it was. I can still hear the snap, crackle and pop of the record and even though I have it on c.d., here I am looking up some of my favourite songs on youtube. Thanks for posting it. What a gem.

  • One of my all time favourite songs. Ricki Lee has just the most beautiful way of singing a song and this as well as the lyrics make me nostalgic and sad all at the same time.

  • I was born in 1963 but that's not the reason why I love this beautiful precious song: quelques grammes de finesse dans un monde de brutalité.

  • Thanks for the Chicago pics. What an unbelievable city... and an amazing song. Thanks Ricky.

  • That's one reason why you must love [H]ouse:

Every great Episode (like "Paternity or any other) finishes with a great song. ^^

  • i heard it on house and i was like, OMG! wat song is tat!! then i found it on youtube. THNKS!!!!! <3

  • OMG thats what I just did too! This song is like making me cry. It's so pretty.

  • WOOOW!! me 2! I just watched House's second episode online and heard this song! I love it! It is kinda difficult to figure out what the lyrics mean exactly though. I would like some one to tell me what they mean.

  • Click on the 'More Info' link on the right for lyrics.

  • hahaha same here!

  • I don't know why, but every time I hear this song, I feel it tugging on my heart, and I almost want to cry. I also feel it is a good reflection piece, and I would like to do more research to the deeper meanings of the song, who it was written for and what was happening when she wrote this song. It's awesome

  • I first heard it on House. Now i love it

  • So simple - so beautiful.

  • Oh, I've spend more than half an hour trying to find this song, after seen an episode of House where it was featured, finally! It's so beautiful, and touching...

  • me to :D on house md

  • Nothing brings me home to myself like Rickie. I owned all her stuff all through the years.

She is so beautiful.....but no posing prancing idiot.

    ~aw

  • ...so exactly right...i've got most of her stuff, but i slowed down after Flying Cowboys,(is that the correct title?). Have you heard Sonya Kitchell yet? take care.

  • :')

  • Incredibly touching video & song.

    Thanks for posting.

  • this song - after what, 30 years? still makes me stop and want to cry. i just love it. i love her.

  • yes im a hard core dude from the streets of brownsville bk that song hits me all the time

  • Great Rickie lee jones.

  • Istill own the original vinyl record. I also still play it from time to time. It's truely one of those songs that gets you everytime.

  • Does everybody know about her? What an under-rated girl.

  • I first heard the while serving in the Falkland Islands during the war... This young lady kept me sane...

  • I only know this song from the second episode of House M.D., where they play this at the end of the show. Very nice Song.

  • First time I heard it was in the movie Little Darlings. Tatum Oneal and Krist McNichol. Rickie Lee Jones is phenomenal. This song breaks my heart every time i hear it. John Lennon's "Oh My Love " was also featured in the same movie.

  • does anyone know the chords to this? lush.

  • i've always loved the words to this song. Actually RLJ is just a wonderful all-around songwriter.

  • Sigh... so beautifull there are no words...

  • This is one of the most retrospectively haunting songs ever. Still sounds as good as it did when I was a kid in the 80's.

  • Few mirror the introspection of life better than Rickie Lee.....

  • gorgeous Rickie!!! So awesome, sad and beautiful... you're amazing!!! VIVA RICKIE LEE JONES!!!

  • This song has haunted me for years. Great song, great album, great woman!

  • yep...agree with all three...but don't let it haunt you my friend...it's just life...laugh slow...just laugh long...just hold on to your special friends...and years may go by but it's okay..cause they do...it's how you handle the years before they go by?

  • I love this so much, esp. The Bean.

  • My heart tells me how much I love this tune.

It was in the soundtrack for the 1980 Kristy McNichol/ Tatum O'Neal film "Little Darlings" but I won't that against its greatness.

  • i grew up loving this woman and was lucky enough to have the chance to see her at the queen elizabeth theater in vancouver. she breaks my heart. (in a good way)

  • Absolutely love this song, and the way Ms Jones plays and sings it. A classic.

  • The genuine article Rickie Lee Jones IS the Duchess of Coolsville and needs our support to help creating great stuff - check out her web site now!

  • The coolest. One of a kind.

  • I like her version of Stairway to Heaven.

  • This touches a lot of people's souls; it has been in many of our hearts for so long now. Ahh the debut album, the year was 1979, yes we welcomed the refreshing sounds of RLJ, thank you for sharing your gift, I love you very much and I always will!!!

  • Rickie, i have kept your songs from when they first came out, on reel to reel, cassette, and other media. why.. well.. it is if i could hear your soul .. when you sang from the heart... your fans are aging gracefully with you.. keep on speaking up love...
