Ok.Let's take the bible as a dillusional myth. What is not a myth??? The whole world is based on the berth of civilisation which is all about myth and phylosophy that have led us to the plagues we have to face today. The big difference is that the bible offers a way out, another dimension:the renewal of our minds thru the gosple of Jesus!!!
Documentary a little sloppy in places. It's a little too pro-christian to be considered truly impartial - examples include the constant references to jesus as a historical figure (far from a historical fact) and the reference to constantine "accepting" christianity (as if it were some kind of proven fact).
The facts generally seem fairly well represented, but it's definitely a little partial - perhaps for the sake of making it more palatable to it's audience?

I heart full of hate, is a heart bound to this world, call yourself whatever you wish, titles and whatever you want to call yourself wont save you. 2 people fighting each other are of the same cloth. and are the same.
Only 2200 years? God they have found a fossil that they have linked to human life through evolution that is 47million years old, well done for mentioning that in the bible ;)
I am a Christian, I have long known the debates concerning the formation of the Bible. This documentary is premised on the lie that we Christians are ignorant fools who believe a book that is too divided and uncertain of origin to believe, so The people who believe this must be either misled, stupid, or lying.
I'm a Pagan, and I don't call you a fool for being a Christian, or calling the Bible the word of God. The documentary, if you actually watch it, never says anything about believing; in fact, in the beginning, one of the people being interviewed said that it is held that God dictated all the books to the various authors through their own personalities. This documentary is completely neutral in "belief." Just FYI.
even if the documentary WAS saying that (which it's not), what's your point? ok, you're a christian, and you've long heard the debates... was there a follow up statement to that, or are you just accusing the documentary of calling you dumb (when it's not)?
I believe in the Christianity that the apostles were commanded to spread. Too often the origins of Christianity are shifted to look mysterious and uncertain, when the origins are right at your fingertips, day and night.
I must admit, as I review this film, I am beginning to see that it is not AS anti-Christian as I had first supposed it to be. Better inspection has proven to me that it is generally an unbiased rainstorm, with atheist hale falling rarely into the path.
as poetic as that is, it's actually just historians hypothesizing about the origins of the bible. everything they say is prefaced with "it's thought that maybe... it's suggested that... it may very well have been that..." --it's all speculation. thats it. just historians talking, man.
Believing in religions is like believing in barbaric customs that never want you to change. If we lived by the bible the world would be an awful place. Thank goodness people challenged and questioned these scriptures so much to make a change in our world today.
Darwin's theories gave a "legitimate" basis for Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler and the like for their horrendous crimes; that humans 'evolve' through 'struggle for existence'. Darwin also asserts that the most 'evolved' creature is none other than the blond-haired, blue-eyed white man -- all others are merely sub-humans or "two-legged animals".
On this basis did Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler and the like "aid progress" the 'evolution' of over 55 million people.
First of all I don't believe any of those men had any of those physical qualities you mentioned. Their Ideals had a stronger influence over the followers whom did not question or challenge the legitimacy of the immoral beliefs. There are also thousands of immoral accounts in the Holy Bible, Koran, and Torah that go unquestioned do to blind faith or what I call chosen ignorance. This is what I call the Social evolution of Man. when you don't evolve you die.
The basis of all divine religions is love, tolerance and peace. Unfortunately, the followers of these religions, some being fanatics, introduce radical and twisted interpretations to give a basis to their personal interests.
It's YOUR duty to distinguish that which is genuine truth and that which is artificial falsehood. If you're too diseased with apathy to make that effort, then the blame is upon you, and not the religions. Otherwise, I'd be more than happy to exchange opinions with you.
Darwinism is what gave Hitler the 'scientific' legitimacy to his crimes. His own autobiography was entitled "Mein Kampf", "My struggle" making reference to Darwin's assertion that we "evolve" through struggle for existence.
Darwinism asserts that only the strongest and fittest of creatures survive -- what more of a barbaric teaching is there than that? Meanwhile (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) teach to be honest, just and kind; feed the poor, the hungry; help the orphan children; etc. etc.
You are amazingly ignorant to the teachings of those religions. Of course those religions would have you love feed and help your own but when it comes to none believers they are disposable income. That's why those religions have a high rate of slavery and genocide throughout their history. Not only did they control slaves physically they also controlled them mentally as well. Teaching their religion and laws allowing them to be both judge and jury. Educate yourself about these religious ideals.
I find it quite comical and ironic that an atheist is speaking of genocide, as no religion had a more deadly, destructive and devastating effect on mankind than Darwinism - which BTW has a long history of genocide.
The problem is that you are fantastically ignorant of not only all religions but also of Darwinism it's self, probably still believing in the Piltdown man as the "missing link".
You are criticizing a religion by the actions of its followers; quite a circular mentality if you ask me.
The fanatic Darwin asserts that the blond-haired, blue-eyed white man is the most developed of species; and that all else are "sub-human". He also asserts that we "evolve" through "struggle for existence" and thus the oppression, murder and genocide of these "two-legged animals" is, from Darwin's pseudoscientific point of view, completely legitimate and in-fact a favor.
The result? World War II, Hitler's concept of "racial hygiene", Eugenics and the Holocaust.
We are our own God and our mind is the only universe we truly control. Our actions lead us to the realities we would wish to create as rulers of our universe/mind. If you allow someone to control your mind you forfeit everything you would have ever become. Making your body just an instrument easily disposed of.
If our mind is the only "universe" we truly control; why then do have relatively no control over our emotions (which, last I checked, come from our minds)? Can you lose a friend or family-member and control your mind not to feel misery?
...Didn't think so.
...Unless ofcourse you were a Darwinist and had no respect (or even tolerance) for human life.
@AlBaghdadee well, you can control the feeling of grief or misery. o.o Same as youc anc ontrol fear, anger, happiness, and to some extent love. You can program yourself not to feel any of those, to feel themto some extent, to be moved by something or disgusted by other. It takes a little ffort, but you can actually do it.The brain is like a computer you see. The people who practice stoicism do that.
what the fuck are you talking about? again, what youre saying doesnt even pertain to what who youre replying to said. you're just spouting off anti-religion ideals as bad as any fundamentalist preacher. you really just sound like you have a complex or your parents were a little too controlling with you as a child - no one said anything about controlling our own universe or allowing someone to control your mind.
speak for yourself, it's evident how little you know about said religions. ignorant to the teachings? slavery, genocide? you're talking nonsense - those things aren't contained within the teachings of those religions. Educate yourself about these religious ideals.
@jayjasonbird nah you're just thinking about Satan/Jesus/God religions which are in fact all the same~ there are more views than just that crap - buddhism for example...or there was something with "mana" once that one sounds kinda fun
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This video clip is non Christian, and casts doubt on Christian faith. It purports that the autheor of revelation might have been John the Baptist. He was killed in year 32 or 33 by the king. Revelation was written around year 90 long after John the Babptist days. Also, this clip the Kingdom of Jesus Christ will be on earth, contradicting the bible and what the Lord himself said. My kingdom is not from here.
Seriously, this documentary is meant to be academic and neutral, stop twisting things around to suit your agenda. Every religion has it's own discrepancies and errors not just christianity
thanks brother this is really significant ,becoz some idiot like pfander or jay smith make false info how reliable bible is ,hopefully indepent source like history channel is saying that authenticity of bible is not good, please download whole series, thanks
@timenai9000 Did you watch the video...? History channel is supporting the authenticity of the bible. Unlike the Quran, with seven different versions due to Mo's "faulty memory" and unwittingly telling his companions 7 different versions.

AlBaghdadee 3 years ago
@AlBaghdadee well, you can control the feeling of grief or misery. o.o Same as youc anc ontrol fear, anger, happiness, and to some extent love. You can program yourself not to feel any of those, to feel themto some extent, to be moved by something or disgusted by other. It takes a little ffort, but you can actually do it.The brain is like a computer you see. The people who practice stoicism do that.

what the fuck are you talking about? again, what youre saying doesnt even pertain to what who youre replying to said. you're just spouting off anti-religion ideals as bad as any fundamentalist preacher. you really just sound like you have a complex or your parents were a little too controlling with you as a child - no one said anything about controlling our own universe or allowing someone to control your mind.
aernoth 3 years ago
speak for yourself, it's evident how little you know about said religions. ignorant to the teachings? slavery, genocide? you're talking nonsense - those things aren't contained within the teachings of those religions. Educate yourself about these religious ideals.

Adolf wasn't a "Darwinist"
Adolf was a little too patriotic and also thought the Germanic people were a deity's chosen people.

@jayjasonbird nah you're just thinking about Satan/Jesus/God religions which are in fact all the same~ there are more views than just that crap - buddhism for example...or there was something with "mana" once that one sounds kinda fun

NO academic is neutral. If you were an academic, you would realize that.

@timenai9000 Did you watch the video...? History channel is supporting the authenticity of the bible. Unlike the Quran, with seven different versions due to Mo's "faulty memory" and unwittingly telling his companions 7 different versions.
