Loser doesn't get bit or eaten in male jumping spider fights. No injuries occur in these "battles". Another way of saying this is that the dominant one will win rights to any female in their area.

I used to collect jumping spiders when I was a kid. I always loved to watch them fight.

What type of species did you collect to fight? Which country u from? Not all jumping spider fight is exciting. Some just show off and run, while others may just push. Others just jump and attack. This species from Malaysia by far has the most interesting fighting skills. Hence it's common name FIGHTING SPIDER.

I lived in New York and we had them everywhere. They were the same ones that you have there. They had the same colorings on their butts and over the fangs. Same spiders. I don't live in NY anymore so I don't see them anymore. This brought back childhood memories for me.

As far as i have researched the thiania species exist mainly in asian countries from taiwan, thailand, malaysia, singapore to india. Haven't come across any documentation of thiania genus in the west though. Glad they bring back some nostalgia for u...:)
