Dr. Rushton said that colonialism and imperialism do not have anything to do with it, but latar he used the argument that mixed kids(Caribbean) have better grades. The kids have better grades because they are part of the upper class. In Caribbean, white and light skinned people are seen as superior, descendants of the colonizers, and almost, if not all, of the white or light skinned people in Caribbean are part of the upper class, therefore they attend better schools and have better scores.

Race however implies that there are breeding populations among humans that can be identified by a collection of physical traits that are consistently correlated. Disotell considers race to be an essentialist concept meaning all members of a race must have the exact same physical traits which are unique to that race and not found in any other races. Rushton simply considers races to be populations with collective differences that vary in frequency across populations.

The kids have better grades because they are part of the upper class. Race however implies that there are breeding populations among humans that can be identified by a collection of physical traits that are consistently correlated. This is not the case in humans and most experts on the subject reject the idea of biological races. Race is a social construct. And Graves did more than debunk r/K selection theory. He showed Rushton's Race/IQ claim was wholly invalid.

In 2007 Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox announced that former Alcona County Treasurer Thomas A. Katona had been sentenced to 9-14 years for embezzlement of over US$1.2 million in county funds sent to 419 scammers.

@Jabrosky Its a result that repeats over and over so it is unlikely to be an artifact of the research methodology. In the absence of evidence you aren't free to conjecture. The same result is obtained from epidemiological studies where the respondents are seropositive for a variety of sexually transmitted diseases in which case there is nothing to be gained from dishonesty. In short there is no evidence that the non-black hispanics, asians and whites are lying.

if i remember correctly, more recent genetic studies comparing actual DNA maps of siblings (or even unrelated individuals) reinforces the already voluminous data from the twin studies. This plus the data from newer twin studies are legion and indicate a heritability in IQ (mostly g-factor) of up to about 0.80 for monozygotic, about 0.50 for dizygotic, and moving steadily downward as the genetic similarity decreases. The variability due to their upbringing & environment was extremely low.

this was disappointing. I had heard that Graves obliterated Rushton in this debate, but all he really said was that genes don't necessarily explain these differences. Everyone seems to agree that there are real racial differences, we're just trying to come up with a theory explain why those diffs exist.

I do feel he obliterated Rushton because he critiqued his research in detail, he answered all of Rushton's questions and Rushton had no rebuttal to any of Graves arguments. Rushton also looked rather foolish answering some of these questions.

@meshyis The problem with the debate over race is that race is being defined differently by the different scholars. For instance Disotell and Rushton both acknowledge genetic variation. Disotell considers race to be an essentialist concept meaning all members of a race must have the exact same physical traits which are unique to that race and not found in any other races. Rushton simply considers races to be populations with collective differences that vary in frequency across populations.

Many of you don´t realise that when we talk about racial IQ averages, we are dealing with AVERAGES.
Say 10 people take a test. Their scores are: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10. 1 being the least score possible, and 12 being the highest score possible.
Another group of 10 takes the same test and scores are: 1,1,1,3,5,7,8,8,9,12 What is the average score of each group? NB. if u cannot solve this ur IQ is below 85!
Do the averages tell u anything about the composition of both groups?
