So if warhawks the son of green lantern and hawkgirl why do they waste time with the new green lantern, shouldnt he get GL's powers anyways? Or at least like a hybrid version?

@ss6truks well john stewart doesnt have any powers as a human being, his power only comes from the ring, take that away from him he is plain human. The ring would have to choose warhawk in order for him to gain any sort of power. The ring does not genetically recognise, so there was no garuntee warhawk would gain any power other then shayera's.

@VladGLX Yeah but I thought the user of the ring has his will instilled in it. Like if you lose a ring or misplace it you can call it back to you. I always thought you were a green lantern without the ring as long as the power in it does not run out, its really confusing

@VladGLX I read up on it also, apparently the rings power can be genetic, which is strange. The original green lantern Alan Scott had kids and his daughter Jade's GL powers come from a birthmark on her hand

@ss6truks oh well fair enough, i suppose it can be genetic, but its not definite an offspring will inherit the powers as only one of Alan Scott's children became a green lantern (?) i dono, i remember reading a 'legion of superheroes' comic and in that the gaurdians of oa were all dead, so everytime a green lantern would die his ring would 'deactivate' and get sent to the other side of the universe or something. maybe it can be assumed something like that happened as well?

@VladGLX in that case, Kai-Ro (the green lantern in this video) could potentially be one of the last remaining.

@VladGLX Yeah but the deactivated ring after death theory gets kind of fuzzy if you consider Kyle Rayner's ring, which got passed down through the generations until it finally reached GL from DC 1 Miliion series, is there a way they can request the ring to the next person of their choosing or does that ring chooses you thing still apply?

@acemonkieexp No its because his ring is made from the lantern itself so it does not have the same restrictions the others do. But the genetics argument is still confusing

@ss6truks I read in Blackest Nights that Alan Scott said his ring does not work like the Green Lanterns' Ring from Oa. He then said his ring is made from magic and not science.

@Hessualunlocked i dono really, in the JL episodes that look into this he is seen quite old, i didnt really want to include him on the team as i wanted to imagine a very young team with maybe one older influence (static).

and yes hopefully i will get around to doing a few more, alot of people ask me and i tell them that its generally school and such that get in the way, which do, but mostly i have to be in the right mindset to do it, i dont want to feel 'forced' to make one as its a hobbie i absolutely enjoy and want to continue enjoying. but yes i definetly will be making one soon so keep the lookout :)

one is a two parter called 'the once and future thing'.

the other is called 'epilogue'.
