  • best rhytm guitarrist ever..and a good lead guitarrist :D

  • can anyone do a lesson on how he plays here

  • I hope I never play my guitar like yesterday

  • If he had played at the ending of the grammys with joe walsh, bruce springsteen, paul, the guitarist from the foo fighters, and the other 2 which i do not no their names that would have been epic.

  • pete towshend has been and allways will be a genius , and as for the who had god on stage with them , they had two keith and john, keith decided to take a rest in 1978 and john in 2002 , pete and rog are still with us but their time will come when they will reform in rock heaven , and i hope i can see them again as the best rock band this planet has and will ever produce, but till that time carry on pete your the best

  • what guitar is that?gipson>?

  • best rhythm guitarist ever

  • Hero

  • Ron Paul 2012!!!

  • @DONOVANDANNA Dude, get that shit out of here. Fuckin' people...

  • @Kedbuka Dude, what 'shit' are you referring to? And where do you think it ought to go? Fuckin' ignorant ones are always the most disrespectful which makes them appear to as fools.

  • @DONOVANDANNA I suppose it ought to go up your ass, you bird-brained cracker. And the "shit" to which I refer is your silly post about Ron Paul. As for respect, well...I guess I don't have much for your ilk. None at all, actually.

  • Legend!!

  • just beautiful

  • Damn it Pete!! Go Baby Go!!

  • Great song, thanks Pete

  • His strumming is hypnotizing.

  • stunning

  • No guitaris is "god", I find all these remarks childish. BUT: P.T.'s intensity is breathtaking and I have listened to his music for more than 40 years now - and still can'r get enough. On the other had: There are SO MANY very, very good music, all on this level: Page, Morse, Clapton, Gilmour, Hendrix, Vaughan, Eric Johnson, Buddy Guy, .... I could name a hundred, plus 100 jazz guitarists: Scofield, Grant Green, Metheny, Barney Kessel ...

  • @cherokee592 thank you for hundreds jazz guitarists, i wouldn't change with Pete !

  • @riding60

Maybe because you are no musician? Musicians like PT adore Jazz guitarists, becaus they know about quality of music. Pete Townshend is a very impressive rock guitarist full of energy and the writer of incredibly good songs. But there's many jazz guitarists who are technically far beyond ANY rock guitarist's ability.

  • Townshend***

  • I find this man's rhythms and inventive playing an absolute inspiration. A true icon of my generation.

  • And people laugh at me when I say he's the greatest rock guitarist of all time?!.. LOL.. Not that I'm right, but he's certainly "in the argument," as they say..

  • pete with the acoustic guitar is god

  • pete is one of the best rockers of all time...

    powerfull guitarrist

    fucking good compositor

and one of the best showmans of all time

  • he makes it look easy doesnt he???....amazing!!!!

  • 40 yrs later and the lyrics still ring true today

  • This is music

  • Superb

    Hell of a guitar player

    underrated singer

  • This man means it.

  • the legend himself......

  • Thank you Pete...with your song you changed my life

  • What a good job!

    What a good composer!

    What a good guitarist!

    Even a good singer...............

  • whats this video from? its amazing

  • puro sentimiento

  • 1/4 of the greatest band of all time.

The Who had GOD on stage with them.

  • Mods & Rockers forever..

  • Mods for ever, not no greasy rockers!!!

  • Pete is incredible!

  • Pete's words are as true now as when he wrote them. Man constantly screws his own future for the love of temporary power...a high turn over industry indeed.

  • @keenanX1 Well said mate. Love the bass playing on your YouTube channel, do more.

  • Killer on the acoustic? He's killer on any guitar!

  • Pete TownsHend.

  • TenStoryLoveSong Oooops sorry mate, that comment was for the ass wipe slagging of THE LEGEND.

  • great!!

  • And the bastards are doing it again .The seventies werent much diferrent as the year 2010 . fuck all :Doves .sparrows, crows, finches ,me -we all still live wi5th songs in our hearts. Thanks for posting.

  • Real music. Anyone who disagrees can **** off.

  • Fucking A. That is all :-)

  • im not a perv, pete is not a perv the real perv is gary glitter go and bug his fans, but pete is inoccent

  • haha someone told me that this guy is better than joe bonamassa......... riiiiight, he sux donkey-ass

  • @Kodyr710 He's just playing chords on this - look up some of his other stuff.

  • I beleive this was written for a theatrical show about gypsy travellers.Quite focused really.Songs dont last forever like people. We will not or wont get fooled again. They were a very open group in that no one really gave a f--k about who did what. However Pete Townsend was main song writer. A dark side yes probably ,dangerous?,we all have animal instincts probably right most off the time.

  • Great song - made in the 70s, but still classic!

Great artist - grey and deaf, but still fresh!

Great music - handmade, but simply timeless!!

  • Advice for the coming P elections.

  • Why do people keep giving this monster thumbs up? What about the poor children he abuses? Google Pete Townshend abusewatch. Vile man!

  • any one got john williams and pete townshend

  • I'm 16..And a huge fan of him. That was just plain AMAZING.

  • @lambchop43 If you were 10 years younger then he'd be a huge fan of you!

  • @TenStoryLoveSong Nobody here gives a crap what you think about Pete Townshend. You don't know what you're talking about.

  • @hottemperwind I'm sure you don't care. You are a sex-offender afterall. But be aware that you have a long time in prison ahead of you. The police are closing in your kind.

  • @TenStoryLoveSong you are a prick of the highest order get the fuck off this video you wank fuck dick suck i have had enought of people coming on here and insulting pete if you insult him you insult me aswell. he is inoccent you prick im 17 and this man saved my fucking life, go listen to justing beiber you PRICK

  • so sick and beautiful

  • If you gave this a dislike....just sign the "yes, I am retarded" papers.

    Seriously, just sign them.

  • @theescondidoroad maybe some people think child-sex is wrong? You should be ashamed of yourself!

  • He IS Legend!!

  • of course when geddy alex neil die

    and page and plant

and you and i jon anderson and steve howe and bruford and pete best and john rutsey

when the big whell spins along, nabd sir paul,

makes me weep and kneel sword to you fucking loaded drunken rockers

  • @wesere12 Theres alot of different guitars you can get that look close to that depending on how much you want to spend that look or body shape is what you call an extra jumbo shape and just about every company has a model that has an extra jumbo shape. personally in my opinion i think Taylor makes the best sounding acoustics but for the price and the same exact looks as that guitar try an Epiphone EJ-200 model or if you want acoustic electric Epiphone EL-200CE

  • Does anyone knows were i can find a guitar that kinda looks like that gibson but doesn't cost 2.000$ ???

  • @wesere12 Epiphone EJ200, Gibson's affordable version, and actually quite nice

  • @dylanlawless1 I've allready found it :)

But thanks anyway for taking the time to reply this!D

I'm definitely going to buy it!!!!

  • @wesere12 epiphone ej200 it will look the same, made by the same sort of people, sound the same way... sort of. cost 300$. Anyway it's a very nice guitar for the money.

  • Goo gig Pete, good share foilfedora

  • Gibson Jumbo!!!

  • he has really unique style of playing

  • very nice........:)

  • He does almost everything that you can do with an acoustic guitar in this video. I think that near the end, I even heard him using the guitar's natural harmonics.

  • it's perfect

    Greetings from Lima ,Pêrù

    Chelsea

  • 20 people didn't like this? geezuz...

  • 3:05 - 3:18 i like the way he plays the guitar!

  • The best performance of anything I have ever seen. If anyone disagrees, they are wrong.

  • There is just something about his playing that makes the guitar sing!

  • this would have been better if rodger daltrey sang it but its still awsome

  • Pete Townsend was born to play guitar.

  • Don't you know his name is Pete TownsHend ?

  • Sheer Fucking madness, Pete can shread it at any age.

  • awesome... who said rock'n'roll would need electricity oder drums & stuff...

  • This guy is definitely one of my favorites and has had an influence on me. I wish they would come out with more songs. Of course no one can play like John.

  • Don't touch Pete Townsend

  • @cymrutube3 What's wrong with lookin' at 17 year old nipples? Female nipples, that is. That's the shit that makes the world go 'round, bro'! Woo Hoo!!!!!

  • Probably my favorite guitarist of all time...and there are so many I admire, but Pete is just a class act Legend!

  • Consider this song in the geo-political context of the time... cold war, street rioting, the threat of nuclear winter etc. and then behold a genius at work making observations that history has proven remarkably astute.

"Meet the new boss - same as the old boss" ...

    and

"The parting on the left is now a parting on the right"....

"The world looks just the same and history aint changed"...

I tilt my hat to Pete Townshend - this is a gem from one of the greatest songwriters and performers

  • 'Lill riff at 4:19 is sick. Top Knotch all around!

  • Great version! Check out my channel and see The Dirty Cricks cover Fooled Again. The guitar player coverted the synth to guitar...and sounds really cool.

  • This is good, but the performance he gives at the Secret Policeman's Ball (charity event for Amnesty International) in 1979 is even better. He also does a killer version of Pinball Wizard at the same event.

  • Genius _and_ legend.

  • 20 idiots got fooled again.

  • @GrassoIvan its 21.. 21 sore losers

  • @GrassoIvan ...lmao!

  • @r0sebud100 fuck off from the vid if you are going to insult him, just fuck off you pice off shit

  • With that right arm he could be a great boxer! Fuckin fast and accurate.

  • GENIUS LEGGEND!!!

  • @cymrutube3 Not what I meant. What that meant was that you imitate the usual type of person who would insult him rather well.

Uneducated? Your words and actions will prove or disprove that theory.

  • @cymrutube3 Maybe that's why the British government officially pardoned him and apologized to him. From my view, Pete's a really great person who has a talent as a writer, guitarist, and a singer. He's part of the reason I fell so closely in love with music in the first place, as well as the inspiration behind a long of my own writing. The gift he's given me alone is immense. Before you say someone "shud go to HELL," why don't you look at more than just what's on the surface? (2/2)

  • More than 40 years later and this song rings true...rock on

  • More than 40 years later....and the song remains the same

  • Why the fuck is bieber in the suggestions?!

  • Comment removed

  • @muzika3666 No talent jews are promoted 24/7.

  • Waaay back in the day, I saw Roger Daltrey on a talk show when he first released "After the Fire" and the host asked him about his new solo venture. Roger said " after so many years of singing Townsed lyrics, music is a little "unfullfilling"...Guess that about sums it up 'eh?

  • @cymrutube3 FUCK OFF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What blows me away is how young he was when he wrote these lyrics. Yeah, no one else can quite touch this stuff.

  • Funny how great rock lyrics keep matching the "new" political concerns every 30 years or so.

Same fuckin bullshit over and over and over.

The Government just re-plays the same fake ass movie, for a new audience.

  • Possibly one of the greatest rhythm guitarists of all time, thats not to say he couldnt play lead well, he could in the who he was more of a rhythm section allowing keith, Rodger and John to take the lead while he kept the solid base they built off

  • He's no Daltry when it comes to singing, but blimey that guy can play.

  • that man's got rhythm. which is exactly why Keith was able to drum the way he did.

  • another planet

  • Pete Townsend singing and playing acoustic.

Just one of the best things ever.

  • Chills down my Spine... Pete is my hero for life !!!

  • the way he builds up a climax without the power of the rest of the band and rogers rock scream (in my opinion the best ever) and still manages to do justice to such an awesome song is outstanding. one of my favourite guitarists from one of my favourite bands. you fucking legend.

  • Greatest 'english boy' ever, for me! Great on guitar, on vocals, and on passion for music. Love him.

  • Fucking Legend. That is all.

  • @BoristheOxman FUCKIN A'!!!

  • @BoristheOxman Are you a member of his pedophile ring? You should watch out, there could be a knock on your door any day...

  • @TenStoryLoveSong Tolololololololol. Bro, you so funny

  • he attacks that guitar!!

  • people shut the fuck up please. some of you are so niave. im 17 myself kids are well aware of the past greats. i know many people who sing the praises of hendrix on facebook love the heavy riffing of angus young the technical ablity of steve vai the genius of jimmy page. if you actually talk to some young people rather than assume there music taste they might suprise you

  • I love the way he still numbers his guitars. He was instrumental in me playing the guitar

  • goose bumps.

  • Fuck Ferris, Pete Townsend is my hero!

  • Fuck Ferris, Pete Townsend is my hero!

  • Very nice and untraditional version. You wouldn't much expect an acoustic version of a The Who song but I liked it. Howevever, I was hoping for a YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH :D

  • I love this version of the song, and that Gibson J-200 is simply beautiful!

  • SJ 200, and yes she is a beauty :)

  • The Who must be THE band that failed most in most things they started and even though got to be one of the most famous rock bands of all time... Amazing

  • Que gusto da ver a uno de los poderosos maestros del Rock y sentir su energía en su interpretación.

  • 20 jealous, monkey pole smokers... Brilliant!

  • Pete sounds better vocally than Roger nowadays.

  • Genuis Guitarist, composer and fellow legend! I salute you Pete!

  • Pete's a fucking genius

  • @Naisium No, he a perverted predator of children

  • I love the subtle irony of people (including me) arguing that one person back then was better than another person now - especially in light of WHICH SONG is in the video, and the fact that Mr. T here is speaking about how strongly he feels about WHAT THE SONG SAYS; 4:50, everyone! :)

  • i can`t beleive that is just one guitar playing in that performance,

    incredible,sublime,just mind blowing

  • wow,thats the benchmark,what a performance

  • All I can hear is John playing bass right now.

  • Forget all this heavy metal style "shredding" crap. THAT is how you play a guitar. He just completely made it his bitch.

  • amazing video :)

    rock on pete

  • awesome video, just goes to show why he is one of rock n roll's geniuses.

  • Man I'd love to spend a long afternoon jamming w/ him. He doesn't play the guitar; he owns it - he inhabits it . Awesome performance.

  • Slamming a 10000 dollar guitar like it was a 100 dollar one. Love the purity of this keep it up Pete. THX

  • I thought Giuliani's crime fighting ideas would never work in NYC. I said I'd never live in Florida. I've said this is the last song I could imagine being done acccoustically.

Sometimes I just love to be wrong.

  • nice job pete.

  • beautiful!

  • Zarpado !

  • You dont have to be loud to be heavy ...Very Cool Pete.

  • PETE HAS SUCH A SUPPLE WRIST.

  • David Gilmour would be laughing his arse off about being rated in the same league as Hendrix.

On many occasions Gilmour has said that Floyd went down the experimental rather than the Blues paved road of rock because none of the band (including himself) had the skills to match it with bands like Cream... and so on.

  • @Thrustmaster2003

Yes and that's a great thing about Gilmour. Very humble. He only has ever acknowledged that his vibrato is good. He feels he's decent, not amazing (which he is).

  • Who are the 20 people who did not like this???? I guess they did get fooled...

  • somehow I breathe when I watch this ... thank you for sharing ...

  • Comment removed

  • Beautiful.

BUT ARGH I wish they did a closeup of what's happening at 4:17ish.
