  • How to you make flexible limbs?

  • The aluminum foil is compressed and is still flexible. Take a strip of aluminum foil and squeeze it like an accordian, don't twist it. When you get it compressed, bend it, it bends easily. When you layer polymer clay over compressed aluminum foil you can bend elbows, knees, ankles, wrists, etc. Sculpt the whole body, cover it with polymer clay "fabric" and then pose it before putting it in the oven. It's easier that way.

  • Oooh, I see. So it's in how you put the foil? And even once the clay hardens, if the foil is compressed, it'll still flex?

  • Once it hardens it's set. If you try to move the bent arm it will crack. It is only while the clay is uncooked that you can change the pose. The reason why I cover the armature this way is to see how different poses look like while the clay is still raw.

  • Aw, ok... I guess I'd have to find something else to make limbs that can move after the whole thing is finished, eh? ^^;

  • I think what you're looking for are "ball joint dolls" do a search here on YouTube for videos for "Ball Joint Dolls" there's a bunch of tutorials. I'm leaning in that direction but haven't started yet.

  • I am, actually. xD Thanks for the advice!
