Crysis does not require either a DirectX10 GPU or Windows Vista to run on "DirectX10 settings", all you need to do is to add a 4 instead of a 3 in the .ini files and you got DX10 settings. No DX10 videocard runs good during DX10 - we'll see a chance of this when the HD3800 arrives next month.

I get about 50 frames, very stable with my PC, in Very High and Direct X 10 on Vista.

I really depends on your CPU and RAM. Forget about it with 2GB, you need 3 or 4 if you run it on Vista with DX10. Also a X-Fi soundcard will extremly increase your framerate and keep it very stable during combat. So yea, the 8800 runs it very well. The cards that cant run it well are from ATI. Period

The Xbox 360 has a card equal to a 7900GT and nothing more. It has WAY less RAM and lower clocked too. The CPU might be 4Ghz, I dont know. All I know is, its not a 16Ghz Quad Core, wich is what the PC does.

I dont really give a damn about Consoles, but I know the PS3 is superior to the 360 when it comes to the hardware. Still its a lame piece a shit compared to any high end PC.

I was very sceptic about Vista. I read all the bad reviews. But I have to say, now that I tested it myself, its really good. Actually its faster than XP on many things. Its also more stable with over clocking. I could go to 25% so far, still stable, wihle XP made troubles at 15%

Abouet Service Pack, I did read that Ms wont release a Service Pack for Vista. They'll keep it all in small updates. Not sure though. Do some research on THG.

vista is a bitch on ram though... but if i end up doing something now it will only be outdated when the new nVidia 9 series comes out... so thats something i'm also waiting for... but from what i have seen SP1 (was) supposed to be out in the first quarter of 2008... but i havn't thoroughly researched it yet

Yea the GF9, am also waiting for it. ;-) Megagames has an article about it. They maybe release it in February. About the RAM, you will need 4 Gigs to play games under Vista. Think about it twice if you want DDR2 or DDR3. The GeForce 9 will be a PCIe 2.0 card, so you could get a new mainboard for PCIe 2.0 wich will require DDR3. The card will run on a normal PCIe board though and wont be much slower than 3-5%

Lets put it into perspective on this X360 vs PC debate: X360 games are always consistent in their gameplay (because the developers build the games specifically FOR the X360), PC games are variable (because most PCs are different from one another). The PC however has an advantage versus X360 for this particular game. DirectX 10. X360 is DX 9.0c. It's hardware limited. The PC is not. Consider that even the PS3, the newest console, is now well behind the PC in power.
