The Constitution puts restraints on government, not the people. A marriage license is just consent of the unknowing to cede the product of the marriage (children) to be a subject (property) of the state. Marriage is an agreement with god, sworn before the church and only that.

The Constitution puts restraints on government, not the people. A marriage license is just consent of the unknowing to cede the product of the marriage (children) to be a subject (property) of the state. Marriage is an agreement with god, sworn before the church and only that.
