There were 3 versions of Bert. First there was the original Bert when Sesame Street originally premiered in '69. You will notice his hair along with Ernie's was more frazzled. The second version of Bert appeared the next year, this time a more trimmed up one than the previous. Then in late '71 they came out with a third one, but unlike the first two, this one was able to move his eyebrows showing a more emotional Bert.
