@CBRsledneck I would go with a magnaflow instead, they have a straight through design (no baffles). But they put out a nice deep rumble that you can still hear (doesn't muffle the sound, it tones it down). Or you could try Magnaflow's new glasspacks or any other brand of glasspack (except for cherry bomb, they are almost as loud as straight pipes).

Explain again exactly why having more backpressure gives you better torqe in the low range, because after the fuel has been burnt in the engine the only thing it does is leave because it is not needed any more and the only reason cats and mufflers are on is so the damn thing doesnt disturb everyone in your town and this is why people take these off because they add horsepower because the more backpressure you have the harder the engine has to work to push it out which steals horsepower.

It all depends on your preference.... if you want a really loud or mildy toned sound... (i prefer straight piped). And It shouldn't hurt anything... if anything it'll be benificial. You're going to cut back pressure down considerably with a straight piped exhaust system.

I gained a little on HP& torque.. The truck actually runs better now.. Even pulling trailer's. Has a nice deep exhaust chant& burble now..

I tried it without the internal baffler's inside, and it was way too loud.. So I put the baffler's in it, and the exhaust sounds phenomenal... If you buy the kit from Grand Rock's then you can make a gas truck sound good with stacks. My friend seth has a dodge 1500 v-8 & I keep telling him to get em.. His dodge would look bad ass!!! But he is more into doing motor upgrades.

Actually, the larger and shorter your pipes, the less room for flow you have, and therefor the less exhaust scavenging you have. This leads to reduced torque at the low end range. You get good top high end gains. When you leave your pipes 2.5'' or smaller, and leave them run to the rear, you get more flow througout the pipes, way more scavenging, and way more low end torque. It has NOTHING to do with backpressure... Weld a metal washer to the end of your tailpipe. Please tell me what happens.

Depends on what you want. I have a 2008 SIlverado with the 5.3 v-8. I just put dual 6inch "aussie" cut stacks on it with internal muffler's.. It has given the truck a nice deep exhaust chant& burble.. Seems to run better now (speed wise& power wise) My opinion, the v-10 is too big a motor to straight pipe. I think it would be too loud. Performance exhaust would sound better, or mabey even stacks. Done right gas trucks can sound good. Check out my videos& let me know what ya think.
