All the other characters (Marlo, Stinger, the Greek, Rawls and Daniels) fucked people over in that manner. McNulty was truly a great character.

Umm I think you got the wrong meaning out of that part. McNulty was feeling guilt, something rare for that character. He had stooped so low as to create a fictional serial killer all while using poor Larry (the homeless guy) and other people like him to lock up Marlo. In no way was it foreshadowing anything, the creators even said that McNulty was feeling guilt during that scene on the DVD commentary.

@gauchebag What I meant is that people like McNulty never ultimately screwed anyone over. He didn't kill anyone, he didn't get anyone fired or suspended. All the other characters (Marlo, Stinger, the Greek, Rawls and Daniels) fucked people over in that manner. He betrayed the fucked up institution (police department) that had royally fucked him and his colleges so many times over. All he did was manipulate the system, it was like a chess game to him. McNulty was truly a great character.

he did 'kill' people (technically he was the 'cause' of those stranglejobs) and people have been killed behind some shit he was a part of.
you say he never got anyone fired or suspended...do you realize he got himself and lester fired and suspended over the homeless murders? only technicality is that the city couldnt show any dirt and fire them outright but they were finished.

there's a scene in season 5 when he drives the homeless man down to d.c. to hide him at a shelter that really speaks to mcnulty's ultimate destiny.
he's sitting there watching the homeless guy fumble around with a sandwich and eventually drop it on the floor, unable to pick it up. that would be mcnulty in a few years--you could tell he knew it by the look he made and how quickly he got out of there

Umm I think you got the wrong meaning out of that part. McNulty was feeling guilt, something rare for that character. He had stooped so low as to create a fictional serial killer all while using poor Larry (the homeless guy) and other people like him to lock up Marlo. In no way was it foreshadowing anything, the creators even said that McNulty was feeling guilt during that scene on the DVD commentary.

Yeah Prop Joe had a good run, and he outsmarted people for most of the series. But if he was really all that smart instead of having blind loyalty, he would've gave up Cheese. I believe he had not one, but two opportunities to do so.
Not giving up Cheese was ultimately his own undoing.

A very smart man how rather used his smarts than the violance, but a devious man like that never last. come to think of it he lied to every major character in the series: Avon, Stringer, Omar, Marlo. In the end it all came back to him and even in the event of his demise he try to make props
