mcbaldan i have to thanks you for give the sheet of this beautiful melody. I really wanted to play it by my own and now i'm very close to made it. Just for fun.
No need to apologize for your guitar, you make it sound like it cost a fortune... beautiful! I'd like to hear a Blood, Sweat & Tears type variation done by 2 or more guitars, perhaps a recorder. This piece should be interpreted by many different artists like the Canon in D. I'm going to give it a try on guitar. Perhaps again later with two guitars or a mandolin. Thanks... well done! Nice touch!
Why would he cheat? He's got nothing to prove to complete strangers. By that logic, I feel it's fair to say that he's actually doing the playing himself. And he's doing it well, too.
of course he's playing..and very well :) also you got the second part very slightly wrong (or different) but i really like what you've done..your guitar sounds awesome too, is it a 12 string? can't really tell from the video but sounds like it might be
This is beautiful. Is there an arrangement I can buy, or even a tab for this online somewhere? No matter what instrument it's played on, it's still as beautiful and melancholy.
If only digital cameras could fully capture the timbre changes. Then it would be even more powerful. And I like what you did at the end with the Bmin7 to Emin harmonics. Good job though.
I'm a guitarist (well i was for 8 years before I sold my taylor because I stopped playing it and it was just gathering dust) and he's definatly playing it, the people who've said he's miming can't play guitar, it's not even a difficult peice,it would take you around a year to play that from picking up a guitar, probably less if you'd just concentrated on acoustic finger picking, well played though, thumbs up.
That looks like a lot of work for the guitar! Good job! I have the sheet music for this on piano, and I kind of have to stretch my fingers with that. So, you must have skills! God bless!
You're really good at playing the guitar 'cause it's a play for piano so there are to many notes to play whit guitar, incredible! Love it! :) Good job!
Ahh, JessAtlas, it's not your video. Who are you to write on behalf of everybody?
For mcbaldan: aesthetics is important in art. I couldn't help getting distracted by that watch. Better not to wear it. That's all. In the other hand, nice interpretation.
@Aphidina , a link was provided in the program notes/video notes. Click it and then click "Classical Guitar Music", then by Composer, click "Satie" then scroll down to find Gymnopedie No 1 by "Satie, Erik".
Although i love the piece and how its played, i cant help looking at the comments that say he is not really playing, just miming along. Ruins it slightly for me.
@armandin2048 I agree that he's playing it, but if that's a metronome, he's not keeping very good time! He says it a camera problem, not a metronome or clock.
@Imfine3 Same with the last video that I watched of somebody playing it on guitar. It was so shaky I couldn't tell if they were playing the whole thing in one. Shows the skill involved when you even have to question it.
muy bonito! la transcripción que tengo es distinta. Esta obra necesita de mucha expresión: los matices, los colores... vale la pena trabajar en ello. =)
That's what you called real appreciation of music, you could actually give gymnopedie a new meaning!! But, I still like the piano. I can feel the dynamics there :D
I agree with you when you say that the piece is much better suited for the piano. But, I think you did it justice as well as someone could on guitar. In the beginning, the notes are spaced apart -just so-, so that a certain amount of tension is created. One note is played, and the next has to be hit just right. Not to early, lest it sound rushed and impatient; Neither too late, the effect would be lost from the tension falling apart rather than the reward of deliberate release.
After you've done sucking another round on your mothers teat how about you leave your trailer and learn about the real world of music you uneducated turd.
timmay from south park? You must be the mosre retarded of the two (j/k) but this gentleman is playing what we hear in the video. It's played very soft, so don't expect to see the strings vibrate so much, even though you can see them if you look closely
