  • was daddy g a sax player back then? or was he a disc jockey?

  • real music you can dance too. Not garbage like justin bieber

  • Did anyone here on this channel ever did the biristol stomp?

  • Stationed at Palermo in the early 60's (just south of OC), we loved when the girls from Philly came to the shore and doing the Stomp in the Chatterbox on 9th street in OC. The lovely blue collar ladies from Bristol oh what bods and great dancers.

As they grew up the, went to Tony Mart's, Bay Shores and of course the Dunes. When they closed the Dunes they would stop at Oburn's, shoot pool, puke and do the Bristol Stomp.

    God bless those philly ladies!

  • AT 1:40 IS A PICTURE ADVERTISING A SOCK-HOP...NOTE THE ADMISSION PRICE..$5..WASN'T THAT A TON OF MONEY FOR A TEENAGER IN 1961...

  • @lawdog490 - Yep. That wasn't from 1961. If that $5/head charge was from 2011, you could multiply it by 0.97 to the 50th power, and then get appx. charge for a 1961 dance! I've already done it for you. That comes out to be $1.09 . . . so...it would have cost about a $1 / head.

  • Like many Rock-'n-Roll Tunes, the actual story behind the lyrics are at cross-purposes with the facts. Originally, this diddy was written as a gag piece...to spoof the huge problem of the annual cockroach (German) infestation in Bristol...& their "Roach Stomping" parties. A city well noted for same. I KNOW this to be true, 'cause THE WOLFMAN ("If I'm lying, I'm dying!) himself, "laid it on us" before his demise.

  • @zuzulo56 - Thanks for your comment; I never knew this. Cool stuff.

  • @zuzulo56 Very interesting tidbit of info!

  • remember when everyone was nice??

  • @mrkrinkle72 - while people were seemingly more polite in the early 60s, please remember that those were segregated times. Theaters, lunch counters, and sock hops were still racially divided. When the Beatles arrived in Florida to perform in 1965, they were told the audience would be segregated and they refused to play. Thus, not everybody was nice, sad to say.

  • @1400deadwood: Thankfully,I grew up in Philly during that time and it was not segregated. Regardless of your religion, nationality, or color, our neighborhoods, dances, schools, restaurants, theatres, etc. could be enjoyed by everyone. Bigots were not welcome.

  • @CherokeeLD - Bravo! It is that type of attitude that makes America great.

  • Good times, good times.

  • I LOVE this song, always have! Lots of girl crushes! Good memories of junior high. Great job on the video as well! Now this song will be in my head for a week!

  • @HUCKSTER991 - Thanks!

  • At 1:30 looks like a "Sadie Hawkins" dance

  • Thanks joltinjack. You really know how to show great times in american rock n roll history and of a simpler america in a video with a great song. I hope many people watch your videos and realise that life back then was simpler and more fun when everything was clean and not vulgar. I look forward to more videos you will put up with with great pics and a great song to go with it in the future. Just like 'Denise' video, you have once more made beauttiful America come back for all to enjoy.

  • @calihartley2010 - Thank you!!!
