  • I just realized that the great racehorses are number two in their great races. Secretariat in this and Seabiscuit in the match between him and War Admiral.

  • fantastico ese video super cavallo aunque le gano el mio

  • I love Big Red!

  • I wonder if Secretariat and Sham were sh*t talking each other, lol.

  • Even if the movie isn't totally accurate, it's still an amazing movie. Get the hell over it.

  • I agree, this race was so disappointing in the movie, compared to the real race.Sham was ahead by half a length,at most, for about 3 seconds, near the start, then Secretariat started to pull away, and continued to leave the gallant Sham behind, as he went faster and faster. And it's such a shame you could hardly hear the race call, which was such a great part of the race.I urge people to watch the 3 races on utube, all are amazing. Then, you will see Secretariats unique physique, not shown on film

  • If you people want to really get choked up.....watch the real "BIG RED" in the Belmont footage (mini-documentary), Secretariat A Moment of Eternity. From 4:00 to 4:22 there is very, very, very, rare closeup footage (taken by a private videographer) of Secretariat and Sham breezing by as they come out of Turn 2 and begin their back stretch head to head duel. All you can hear is the two fastest horses ever to race on this planet, breathing hard and the jaggle of their tack as they blast by.

  • Affirmed was faster than Sham... Pincay will tell you as much.

  • @AtlanticBedBug Affirmed's times against Sham's times in the big races do not stand up. Sham ran the 2nd fastest time in the history of the Kentucky Derby at 1:59 4/5 right behind Secretariat's 1:59 2/5. Sham was close to Secretatiat's record Preakness time of 1:53 2/5 and only 2.5 lenghts behind. Sham in one 2 year old 1972 race actually beat Secretariat. Not that Affirmed wasn't a great horse, he was just not in the same stratosphere with Secretariat and Sham.

  • Affirmed "not in the same stratosphere as Sham?" You're wrong, you're completely wrong, and one of the greatest jockeys in the history of the sport (Pincay) disagrees with you. You will not find a poll or rating system anywhere on the planet that ranks Sham over Affirmed, and never will. Period.

  • @AtlanticBedBug In his overall racing career I would say Affirmed was a more sucessful horse, he won 22 of 29 races in his career with 5 (2nd's) and 1 (3rd). But, in big races, Sham's times were faster.

    Sham-Kentucky Derby 1:59 4/5 (2nd) - Affirmed-Kentucky Derby 2:01 4/5 (1st)

    Sham-Preakness Stakes 1:54 2/5 (2nd) - Affirmed-Preakness Stakes 1:54 4/5 (1st)

    Sham-Santa Anita Derby 1:47 Flat-Record Time (1st) - Affirmed-Santa Anita Derby 1:48 Flat (1st)

  • @LesPaulCustom79 That's my favorite video on youtube of Secretariat running the Belmont. It captures emotionally how we felt that day...and I love the editing & music to it. It's great!!

  • Secretariat's heart weighed 22 lbs, so he probably could've ran 1.5 miles every day and never hurt himself, he just didn't feel like it. I believe horses to be very smart. I'm such a sucker for movies with such happy endings like this one. Even though I remember this race very well as I was 10 and was a big fan of him and Seattle Slew a few years later, I keep watching the Belmont Stakes scene repeatedly.

  • Will everybody stop complaining about what was fact and what was fiction! Don't take shit so literal!!! It's a movie for godsakes!!! It's a feel good story!!

  • @Wondermouth1 you said it well..... LOL

  • @Wondermouth1 I agree. There always seems to be experts who just have to complain about something. It's a great movie about the best and fastest race horse of all time, in my opinion.

  • This is the part of the movie when everyone finds themselves cheering for Secretariat... especially when he comes around the last turn.

  • ...I think I'm obsessed with watching this....

  • the horse that plays sham is actually shams grand son not sure what they call it with horses but its true.

  • cecil. They can't get everything right! It say based on a IMPOSSIBLE story. So they can't do EVERYTHING.

  • @123Secretariat .... true....but the belmont was secretariats signature moment....why he is regarded as one of the greatest racehorses ever. At least they could have shot the race at the real track....and not one in kentucky that looks nothing like it. Its like remaking the movie king kong, and and shooting the final scene on a building other than the empire state building.

  • @cecil995 u r absolutely right, i knew disney would get it wrong... to disney'fied'... for some reason i see it as being a darker movie w/secretariat as more of an agressor and heroine of the american people who need saving... not the simple, sham (bad) which he wasn't... and humble and meek secrt (good) because he was neither of those

  • my 10 year old daughter and i LOVE this movie, can't wait to own it.She is looking for every book news clip any thing she can find about this beautiful horse .A true gift from God was Secretariat. "Let him run Ronnie"is our new favorite saying.

  • Guys, its ment to be like OMG 31 LENGHTS! WOW! you don't need to get all shitty

  • I liked this movie, regardless of what people say. Sure, they got some stuff wrong, but if you've ever watched Seabiscuit they did too, and I don't hear people complaining.

  • What the hell?!? You took the time to upload the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont but not the Preakness?!?! The Preakness is when everyone could believe Secretariat just may be the real deal and you don't have that?!?!?!

    Fail.

  • @bubblinbrownsugar616 Umm, you could just go look up his Preakness on youtube because they used the actual footage for that race.

  • Some other important Secretariat wins not even in the movie: 1. Marlboro Stakes over Riva Ridge 1972 Kentucky Derby winner 2. Man'O'War Stakes on turf which they said he couldn't run on. 3. Gotham Stakes in then track record time. 4. Arlington Invitational 5. Canadian International on turf 5. Bay Shore Stakes 6. Laurel Futurity 7. Futurity Stakes 8. Hopeful Stakes In the movie they show his maiden he lost? His 2nd race he won, the Woodward Stakes he lost? then the Triple Crown.
  • @LesPaulCustom79 Well, it's Disney xD You can't expect them to know much of anything.

  • The best part of the movie was that Sham's trainer, Pancho Martin, was accurately portrayed as the assclown that he was, and Penny Chennery was portrayed as the proud, loving owner of Secretariat that she was.

  • The movie was more a documentary of Penny Chennery's life with not enough footage of Secretariat's 21 races. He won some important stakes races after the Triple Crown, for example, The Marboro Cup when he beat the 1972 Kentucky Derby winner and Meadow Farm stable mate, Riva Ridge, and set the track record for 1 1/4 miles at Belmont. That's another thing, I can't believe Riva Ridge was not even mentioned in the film and he was from the same stable as Secretariat.

  • @LesPaulCustom79 I'd like to have seen more racing scenes too. But it is still a pretty good movie.

  • Pale imitation of the real race and the real race call.

  • sounds like it has a terrible screenplay.. i think it could have been made so much better, and more accurate at that.

  • I saw this movie today and quite frankly while some of the facts are off in the film it a truly amazing movie. This was one of the best scenes in the movie, and the portray the spirit of what went on amazingly well. I was truly astonished. I would love to see the whole scene again not this truncated version.

  • In the 1973 Belmont Stakes when the 3rd quarter was called at 1:09 and 4 Secretariat had already opened up on Sham by about a dozen lengths, I'm not understanding why movies do this :( it's bad enough they inaccurately portray the words of books but warping the hard facts of reality? I was going to see this but I think now I may not.

  • @109367 it's actually a really good movie. They just did that because their Disney and stupid and they are trying to add more drama and suspense (I wish they hadn't though)

  • @109367 There are alot of hollywooding going on in this movie. facts twisted all over the place, but the setup for the Belmont was very good though and was the highlight of the film.

  • wow....is this supposed to be the belmont stakes??? Disney needs to get their facts straight....secretariat was already like 8 lenghs in front of sham by the 3/4 pole. The call is even wrong. I'm looking forward to this movie...but geesh...they can't get the most pivitol part of the story correct?

  • @cecil995 I guess they just wanted to make it more exciting.

  • @cecil995

no i have seen the original and this one a length is equal to 220 yards witch is a long distance

  • @cecil995

no i have seen the original and this one a length is equal to 220 yards witch is a long distance

so you get your facts strait

  • Comment removed

  • @damn1415161

a length is equal to to 220 yards??? I didn't know horses were 220 yards....wow...I guess I better get my facts straight then! Look at the race at the original race at 3/4 mile and this race at 3/4 mile, and then you can go get your facts straight. How about you think before you post this gibberish....and learn to spell while you are at it.

  • @cecil995 ITS TO MAKE IT MORE INTERESTING BUT YEAH I NO WHT U MEAN :(

  • @cecil995 NOT everything is possible!

  • @cecil995 You see him pull ahead by dozens of lengths just after this clip ends :)

  • Going to see this mvie with my barnn :) My horse Has Secretariat in his blood :)
