  • Absolutely, Omar could benefit from the device and even develop speech if given the opportunity to undergo speech therapy. He would likely never drop his "deaf accent," but he would be able to communicate using oral language.

    I'm irritated by Cochlear Americas portrayal of a surgeon equating non-implanation with child abuse. That's ridiculous; deaf people in developed countries do not lead underprivileged lives.

    for the kid omar who is 7 years old, why not give him a chance to hear... any thing... even if he cannot be able to speak in the future , only to protect him self, to hear sounds

    I saw a little girl in los angeles (house ear clinic) she was 7 and she was waiting for implant, her mother didn't want to in the past, because she thought that the device was very big,
