  • Lol fail, Great Dane

  • thats not a dalmatian

  • Comment removed

  • @SilverCrowCreations - It is NOT a mix. That dog is 100% Harlequin Great Dane.

This is from Cesar's National Geographic page regarding this episode:

In the first of two episodes airing during "Dog Whisperer Week" on the National Geographic Channel from December 28 to January 1, Millan encounters an overexcited Great Dane named Willow...

  • The little spotted one is the Dalmatian. That big one, I agree, is a Great Dane

  • @SilverCrowCreations its a dalmatian great dane mix. People breed them that way. This dog might have more dalmatian in them if hes calling it a dalmatian. I'm surprised everyone is saying its not a dalmatian lol. Wow nobody has heard of hybrid breeds?

  • @YourLoveLetter its a Harlequin Great Dane

  • Well he was walking two Dalmatians so I guess that was an easy to make mistake in identify the breed he was having the problem with. If you don't know a lot about different dog breeds. The dogs actually a Great Dane.

  • I have a Dal, that big guy is not a dalmatian. :P

  • @seanreid1970 what are you talking about, the one who loves them is you sean!!!

  • There are 2 Dalmatians there and the one misbehaving is 100% Harlequin Great Dane.

  • you guys might be right it might be a great dane but dalmations use to be that big if not a bit bigger than that did you know they were used for to run along side of carriages in the old days they had to run along side of horses they were protection dogs

  • yep that is not a dal, you can tell by the size, tail, and face shape. it looks like a mixed breed

  • Retards! Thats a Great Dane! LMFAO I swear.

  • this dog is not a dalmatian!!!! IT IS A GREAT DANE!!!!!!

  • lmao

  • This guy is ridiculous. If you watch the dog's body language she isn't being dominant she wants to play. He teaches nothing except intimidatioon. She wants attention simply teach her to sit. You do any of that with an aggeresive dog you are simply asking for trouble. Try clicker training. "Clicking with your dog works much better. Think of what he isn't showing. Its not all about dominance. You want a companion or a door mat honestly?

  • thats a harlequin great dane, not a dalmatian, right?

  • This guy amazes me. Well done sir.

  • that wetsuit is so cute ha

  • Cesar's a beast

  • Cesar sure knows his shit.

  • damn that guy is good

  • disisjay, is that intended as a compliment or an insult? Personally, I think all dogs are adorable and I think Cesar is adorable too. :O)

  • Cesar, you're amazing!!

  • great dane not dalmation

  • this reminds me of southpark haha

  • jaja same here

  • This is Cesar Millan in Australia?

  • What kind of dog is the red Pharoah Hound/Podenco Andaluz/Podenco Ibiceno -looking one? I can't tell

  • I think it's a Pharoah Hound.

  • There is a dalmatian... it's just not about that dog.

  • Cesar FTW!

  • thats a dalmation?

  • No, that's a Great Dane, someone typed in the wrong breed it seems.

  • why are they focusing on the touch vs. push problem when you can fix it with a tug of the leash? that's basic dog behavior techniques. And just like what others have said that's a great dane.

  • Agentkalaw, A tug of the leash most likely won't work when the dog doesn't view the walker as the pack leader. Using the touch or push (not harmful) is the way another dog in a pack would display its dominance over another dog. Cesar uses the touch/push method to help establish the human's dominant "pack position" over the dog. Cesar does use the leash tug when the dog's attention just needs redirecting and dominance is not an issue.

  • That's a Harlequin Great Dane, not a Dalmatian. Title/Description fail.

  • hey anyone think cecar looks like nathan drake from uncharted?

  • The little caption at the beginning 0:59 "Do not attempt these techniques yourself without consulting a professional" makes me wonder if there is any professional who practices the same techniques as Cesar. Until Cesar offers training classes and/or school which would offer a degree upon graduation, I wouldn't trust just any "professional" to be qualified to implement Cesar's methods. I'd attend if it was offered!

  • @dorotwhy He isn't a proffesional I hate he is actually making books for pet owners! You want to know how to work with your dog and understanding them try reading "Don't Shoot the Dog" and "Clicking with your Dog." I really think having a pack in order to train a dog is ridiculous. He is too much about dominance and not about understanding stand point. Dog whisperer my foot. I'm sorry.

  • Crazyhotte73, Well his methods work! I pay attention and notice many unbalanced dogs in my area, those I come in contact with while walking a dog, tend to be dogs whose people are anxious, have never been allowed to socialize with other dogs in a relaxed environment, or have become "pack leader" in their home. If you really know Cesar's techniques, HIS pack is not a WILD pack, it is balanced. Dogs are pack animals naturally.

    cont.

  • Cesar's method is based on the fact that dogs ARE pack animals. Being aware of the pack animal mentality helps train DOG OWNERS. Too often people try to train the dog and this doesn't work because the behavior a dog may display might possibly be a result of the human's misunderstanding of the innate nature of the dog.

I suppose if a certain method has worked for you, that is great. But, as for the "clicker method"... it is not effective with all dogs and may even create anxiety in some.

  • Cesar amazes me! He has what it takes :O)

  • i would breed that with a massif and see what i get...i love big dogs ...

  • It's called "mastiff" not massif. You should really educate yourself in dogs.

And like we need more BYB's in the world breeding mutts because they think a mastiff/pharoah hound would be so cool.

To all you irresponsible breeders out there: Stop ruing our breeds!

  • ruining so u kinda failed at a good comeback

  • If you want to point out typing mistakes you should read your comment.

"ruining so u kinda failed at a good comeback" What kind of sentence is that?

  • a sentence that's trying to correct your mistake obviously.

  • This is stupid. I'm done arguing with you about grammar and typing errors.

  • that is not a Dalmatian it looks more like a Harlequin Great Dane

  • dogs and human beings.

    thats what were here for

    dogs and beings......

    thats whats its ALL about!

  • i just smack my dog in the face with a stick

  • Taser! Taser!

  • lol!

  • Juan2009NewTime, Shame on you. Hopefully this type of correction (abuse) will bite you in the ass some day. You must have given yourself all the "thumbs up" because any respectful pet owner would find this comment and that behavior absolutely abhorrent.

  • lmao i was joking when i wrote this

  • Good Grief. The "problem" dog is a Harlequin colored Great Dane. The two Dalmations are well behaved. But what breed is that brown dog with the huge upright ears? Beautiful dog!

  • um yeah, Nat Geo screwed up on this one! Those dalmatians were very well behaved.

  • Looks like a Pharaoh Hound to me

  • it was a pharaoh hound...

the ones that look like it but also have white breaking up the fawn is called an ibizan hound...

    both are great dogs...

  • i thought it was a basenji, but not quite

  • Interesting...

Does this technique where you push or touch work only on dalmations? Or can you use it on other dogs as well?

  • It works will all dogs, but the one he is showing is not a dalmation, it is a great dane. The dalmation is the small, well-behaved dog in the background.

  • With the technique, its only touch and then self presents. No pushing. Otherwise, its challenging the dogs authority.

  • a great dane wearing a wet suit...lol

  • The dog they're working with in this clip is a Great Dane, not a Dalmatian. The dalmatians seemed pretty well behaved.

  • yarr
