Excellent movie. Can anyone recommend films similar to this?

I watched this movie a few years ago , and I didn't know its name, finnaly I found it a few days ago, and now after watching it the second time , I still can't understand everything. I am looking all over the internet for a complete explanaiton but I can't find any . Can someone please explain the meaning of this movie , the story I get , at least the most of it , but the meaning in the end , his sacrifce , the cycle of the whole system that the movie describes, and so on.

I do think this is a very Innovative movie, similar 2 movies like THX. I like the way the director makes his world of Eden Log, where theres no buttons, and very few lights and all that technology 2 indicate a futuristic world like so many western films do now. It can b fairly hard 2 date this movie becus of that style he has used, also the heavy use of darkness, but a very interesting film. I really liked it.

I liked the idea, but not the execution. It was so dark, it was difficult to make out what was happening a lot of the time.

The guy in this film is pretty much the "Original Man". Beast-like, savage, primitive, wordless (Kind of), very "Stage 1" of evolution. But at the same time, he was the Alpha and the Omega of Eden Log...His blood was the beginning of all things. Notice how the plant seemed to grow when she plugged him into it. There was an exchange...an energy transfer...he gave LIFE.

Eden Log isn't a horror/fantasy movie. It's a pure SF movie.

Well ... i love this one 'cause it's exactly my favourite kind of movie.

It's not so hard to understand if you get into it. We are all different and we all like different things ... therefore ... this movie isn't for everyone.

And for me ... the visual style ist simply amazing.

Excellent film! What movie did you watch or what kind of movies are you used to? That's all I can think to ask.

Sometimes I know I'm going to like a movie by the type of people that post negative reviews on Youtube, Netflix or Amazon. How they word things, what other films they reference...

I had no trouble understanding "what was going on" as other people criticise, and I'm not sure how anyone who knows sci-fi would have trouble understanding it either.

It wasn't as hard to understand as everyone here seems to be making out; hell, The Matrix was just as complicated. I really enjoyed this film but this trailer doesn't really do it much justice. I guess that lots of people didn't like it because they didn't understand it, but that's not really the film's fault!

I read loads of comments on how nice it looked but what the crap was it about? It had a bible referance which flashed up at the beginning so i thought it may have been the tree of knowledge or something and the mans attatchment to sin but ooohhh noooo it slips on it own wet clay (Plentiful in this film by the way) and looses itself and the actors. So can some one please explain to me what it was about. Did the explanation come in imagery or was it said in the actors annoying bumbling mumblings?

A lover of films like Jacobs ladder and 2001 I can stay with films that need a little brain power and patience but when it came to this film I really felt that the only one who knew what was going on was the writer of this. Not even the actors in this drivel knew. Whoever sold the idea of this film must have plugged it to crack ridden L.S.D users on prozac. The book was probably worth reading and only those with deep insight could squeeze any sense out of it. Dry thought wet throughout.

HAH!!!!! Finally someone on my wave length!!! I had difficulty distinguishing the diffraction between an inactive corpse and the french acting. The only reason you did not find yourself pressing the eject button on the DVD player, was that the picture was moving and making pretty colours black and white...

Not at all, it was no Apocalypto and the guys who play in it looked more like they belonged in a modern rock band than close to the near Neanderthal man they should have been. As for the baddy, gonzo made flesh. You said you strayed from the holy temple of the gamer dome, well you payed for it. My wife can't get me off of my pc, it's interactive film these days. And some of the stories are absolutey amazing. The only bit I enjoy was wishing the mammoths were really stomping on the actors.

From start to finish I was left baffled and bewildered, flashing from light to dark for 2 hours, with empty suspense and pointless monsters, oh and a random rape, was as deep as dried up puddle.

Was a very frustrating story, the prolonged and slow overdone French acting only added to the hilarity of the unfolding plot, of which is as clear mud.

Maybe I'm a mainstream whore but for the likes of Pans Labyrinth, Cronos etc. left you feeling that £3.95 from Blockbuster was worth it!

Why? you must have got more out of this film than I did? It was a friday the wife was out, no games on the PS3 as pure usual and blockbusters is up the road with EDENS LOG advertised boastfully! but if only I went for 10,000 BC... Which is also rubbish!!!!

Beginning is excellent. However, the film starts to lose its edge as the protagonist really goes nowhere for 30 minutes. The ending saves the film.

Well, just came back from seeing this (more or less) and I'd say it's worth checking out. Though don't go looking for a film you can watch with your brain switched off. You do need to pay attention! Also, one of the most "non-mainstream" films I've seen in a long time. Which is no bad thing, mind.

Funny you should ask that, read about this in a DVD mag today. Seemingly if you select the English language version, there aren't actually any subtitles. Instead the scenes were apparently re-shot with English dialogue. Have never seen this in French or with subs so I must have seen the re-shot version at the cinema.
