Silver is up but it could very easily come down and quickly. When and if the economy rebounds I promise you it will lose its value. I really want to invest in silver 5 years ogo but I just couldn't afford to do to the economy collapsing. Now its 2012 and its about $35 per ounce. I just dont know what to do! Any info would be great?
oh, one more thing. You had replied to someone that the proportions of silver were consistent between dimes and dollars. Not true. The proportions are just right for moving between dimes, quarters, and half-dollars. But Morgan/Peace silver dollars are a different breed of cat, they have more silver than the proportion of their face value.
Nice start there, my friend. A couple comments. Unless one wants to sign up to be murdered or something, I don't know why anyone messes with Craig's list. Glad you only got burned on a coin. (and you said he "guaranteed" it, you actually mean he *promised* it, if it was a guarantee, how do you return it?). Also, anyone can pour exactly 1 troy ounce of something in a mold, it'll weigh an ounce. Weight doesn't tell you what it's made of. Enjoy!
If you want to invest in silver, you invest in silver shot...not silver coins, bars. I bought 250 ounces of silver shot straight from APMEX in early '09 for $9/ounce. Less than a year and a half later silver went up to $18/ounce so I decided to sell it back to APMEX. Yeah, it's over $30 today (please don't remind me), but I still doubled my investment. But, if silver is going to keep going up like people say, you'll make your money back from the company that sold you it.
@kreak403 Untill the price of silver goes sky high, everyone wants their due and you will never get your money cauuse they can't pay 1000+ procent encrease on what you paid them.
Worst idea you can do is buy shots considering metals, in my opinion.
you sure know alot for collecting only 4 weeks? you must have been busy what with ebay, waiting for package, going to the bank, rolling change, craigslist, when did you have time to eat sleep and work? nice stuff btw, and yes its going nowhere but UP UP UP
Here's what I mean.. you buy Ag. It appreciates in terms of USD. But unless you sell the Ag, you haven't realized those gains, you haven't actually made money yet. It's like buying stock that appreciates, you haven't made money until you sell those shares, which requires a buyer. At which point, you've traded Ag back for USD, but I thought you were buying Ag to hedge against a weak dollar anyway?
@silvermediastudio Although we might see the dollar collapse in the very near future, that doesn't mean that all forms of currency will fail. China is the only nation that doesn't have it's money backed by nothing. The demand in China is great for both gold and silver, and if the dollar does collapse, whoever is in office will have something waiting... I don't only have silver, I'm prepared with food, water, ect..... you're right, i can't eat silver, just like you can't eat fiat dollars.....
@SilvermakingmeRICH How much of the US debt does China own? Remember if the USD goes belly-up, China loses on it's investment. They've bet that the USD will not only survive but increase in value.
And the demand might be there, but how would you get all your Ag-Au to China if you were in the US when everything collapsed? It's not like you'd be able to just buy a ticket online and hop on a plane. And what, are you going to check that 50lb bag of precious metals? Probably not!
perhaps folks could look at the future value of Ag/Au in bartering terms, as opposed to how many "dollars" it might be worth someday.
i believe my biggest challenge to protecting MY stacks is to be able to recognize, and resist the temptation to sell off PMs until the economic system has reset, and the current FRNs are worthless.
now... will that first new currency be another fiat? or backed by a gold/silver standard of some sort?
@AngusMcSpuds I'll say it again regarding bartering, how much Au/Ag would you trade for a dozen eggs? Or a chicken? Who sets that price? The seller does, and if he asks for a pound of silver for a dozen eggs, and you're starving, you'd be compelled to make that trade. Makes no sense. If I had eggs, the last thing I'd do is trade them for a metal I couldn't eat, drink, or sleep under.
after the crash, there will be a reset. the US will rebound.
i should have used the word value instead of bartering.
i would only be interested in the guy's chicken if i was REALLY burnt out on my 2 year stash of beans, rice, and tuna in oil. he'd probably trade that chicken for an hours time with my water filter.
i dont wanna move to china. i wanna preserve my little piece of America.
@AngusMcSpuds Most farmers have wells on their property, and if they are raising livestock, have ample supplies of water.
If the system breaks down, how exactly would you move to China, and take all your precious metals with you safely?
Why would he trade lb AU for his farm? Makes no sense. Why not 2 lb? or ten? It has no intrinsic value in the world you speak of. Likely he'd stick a 12ga to your head and say "Drop the gold and get off my property."
@SilvermakingmeRICH Now from a "prepper" standpoint, many are concerned USD will be worthless, or collapse. Say everything collapses, paper money is worthless. Well what is your Ag/Au worth?
You go to a guy with eggs, you want 2doz. How much Ag should you give him? $5 worth (given some spot value of your local market)? Well you're still working in the context of USD, so the paper is just as good. He could ask for 5lb of Ag for 2doz eggs, or tell you to eat the Ag he'll keep his eggs.
@fieryphoenixe Check eBay if you're collecting junk silver, I've bought quite a few key dates and semi key dates for a lot less than value because people are just buying them for their silver value. But as I see it, if I can buy a rare coin at close to the same price as a regular "junk" coin, I'll spend the extra few dollars. Anyway you do it, keep stacking! Thanks for checking out my video!
I started with the one-ounce silver bars, but the problem came to be storage -- no one really sells adequate storage containers. So I switched to the silver eagles and got a bunch of the "pill bottle" type containers. Doesn't really matter what shape they are, and the silver eagles are easy to liquidate when the time comes.
@steamingpoopfart you can buy anything with silver in it if you're trying to invest in silver.... as the price of silver goes up/down, so does your coins, bullion, sterling, ect....
@steamingpoopfart If you're looking purely to invest, Silver Eagles probably aren't your best bet. *Not to say you shouldn't buy some* They're the most recognizable .999 around, but they come with a premium most of the time between 3 and 5 dollars over spot. You can find junk silver coins and generic .999 bar/rounds (coins) much closer to spot (price of silver) I hate to say it, but the Canadian Maple Leaf is my favorite, beautiful coin and doesn't come w/ the premium like the Eagles.
@wrght9185 Yea, but you can get better deals on "junk" silver on eBay, plus if you sign up for eBay Bucks(which is free) you get paid to shop on eBay, but .999 silver bars I buy local, eBay prices are too high for that. Check coin shops, antique shops, and gold and silver buying stores. That's where I buy mine, thanks for commenting!
@bballerx41 I'd buy whatever you can afford silver is silver and if you buy 10 dimes it's basically the same amount of silver as a silver dollar so anyway you buy you can't go wrong
Thank you for lowering the prices. I really appreatiate it (: Now I can buy more physical at these prices. The lower it goes the more I will buy. Thank you JP, and Goldman sacs. Thank you for manipulating it down. Thank you Mainstream media for scaring alot of people away. Thank you for selling guys. Thank you for raising margins on the SLV contracts. @SilvermakingmeRICH sell your silver after everyone gets into it . when the whole population starts buying and silver is like 1000 dallors a oz or over sell it and buy land or other things. when silver becomes over priced sell it . if you keep on to it you will still makes large amounts of money but its better to sell it at the piont its overpriced
@twistedwest1 Well the way the economy is going it will be a while before I trade my silver in for some fiat dollars. If I can trade my silver for a house or some property, then I'd consider it, but I'm not going to sell them for cash, unless that cash goes into buying a house. Thanks for checking out my video!

@Brasscos Hey thanks! Yea that penny is pretty sweet, really good condition for being almost 30 years old. @Brasscos Yea it told me the weight was like 25.7 grams instead of the 31.1 but if it's fake the chances of it actually weighing in at a full troy ounce aren't very good. If it doesn't say .999 fine silver, 1 troy ounce, and it's under weight... I think it's simple to tell that way... but if it says 1 troy ounce and doesn't weigh it, you know right away. That's why I always bring a scale.
thank goodness you just got burned on one coin at the beginning of your collection. now you will not get burned again. good advice for people to bring a scale. keep going~

i like 20 -1 ratio for hoarding.
20 silver for every 1 gold.
even if you gotta buy 1 gram pamp suisse type bars, try to spinkle a little gold on your silver when you find a decent deal.
think 7 years from now.
don't buy what you can't afford to sit on and admire from time to time.
i prefer 1/10th ozt .999 silver rounds and ASEs for silver.
i like gold american eagles, and pamp suisse bars for gold.
i only sold junk us coins at $44/ozt. i prefer bullion.
