  • @markkeogh18 I think it sounds like a Roland CR-78.

  • I love this album - returning to it is beyond words. I have on vinyl but have not played for 5 years at least. - I used to listen to this as a teen with the doors closed and volume up - i grew to love it over the time, and hailed it as one of his best. It still works on a number of levels as a real iconis album with fretless bass and extraordinary atmospheres. Numan sings strangely and the lyrics are quite dark overall. Thank as always!

  • Excellent - Excellent Bass. God, to get this sultry/suductive sound out of a bass is amazing.

  • R I P MICK KARN :-(

  • Great album such a change of direction very brave from a man who was and still is years ahead of the pack. all the musicians on garys albums are top quality.

  • Pretty timeless don't you think? I was only one year old when it came out back in 1981. Discovered the album along with Numan 20 years later. Still sounded fresh.

  • I am not young, and I have owned/still own many many many albums. If I was forced to pick just one to own for the rest of my life, it would be this one. Gary Numan's "Dance" is brilliant beyond words.

  • @chrisnuma6 yeah

  • lets not forget 'I assassin' these 2 albums were his best in my humble opinion

  • have you ever heard of the group 'Dali's Car? It is a mix of Peter Murphy and Mick Karn and it is amazing but it doesn't touch this stuff unfortunately NOT MUCH EVER RECORDED DOES!!

  • Mick Karn...legendary Bass player. RIP.

  • A classic. Mick, thanks for this masterpiece of bass. R.I.P

  • ¡Una obra maestra!

    A masterpiece!

  • When I first heard this album - probably the day it was released - I seriously thought pop music had been changed forever...

  • I bought this album back in the 80's when I read the back cover...Bass: Mick Karn

    I love his collaboration.....

  • Amazing songs which were cointained on this cd.! A years passed by and still remember the ones by Him.Such a great memories ;Lol

  • When I bought the album, the headphones went on and this song went right into my head. It was a day before I heard the rest of it, played this song over and over. Still amazes me.

  • dance ist das beste album was gary gemacht hat.das war eine schöne zeit mit einem guten numanoid.

  • In a sense, this kind of picks up from where Telekon left off, nice :)

  • One of my all time favorite Albums. This is my favorite song on the album. The Fretless Bass sounds so nice/hypnotic. Very well done. This song is just so great!

  • His best album defaintly. Wish he could still make music like this.

  • The fretless bass reminds you of a big fluid rubber band snaking its way through the mix and curling its little tail on high note harmony swoops just below or above the higher synth lines.

  • Always found Dance and Berserker to be his 2 best albums of all time.

  • My all time favriote Numan album

  • As a young Numanoid, this was my least favourite album, but in retrospect I think its one of his best. Incidentlay his face was black and blue for the photo-shoot for this LP (The boyfriend of a girl he'd been seeing attacked him just before the shoot). You can still see it, even under the heavy make-up, if you have the LP.

  • I bought this album when it first came out. I'll have to dig it up from my parents house to see if I can see the brusies on his face.

  • @Virginia78704

Look closer, that's not bruises, that's make up.

  • Mick Karn of Japan playing the bass, right?

  • Sure is on every song except for Night Talk

  • Not so. Mick Karn doesn't play bass on 'Stories'.

  • damn this slong was long! lol when I had the vinyl I never thought this song would end first time I heard it.

  • Wow, this album really does meet at it's best.

  • The itnro to this song and Music for Chameleons using the same small samples.

  • Great chill song. So atmospheric. One of my favorite Numan albums.

  • what a long ass song.

  • This clocks in as one of the longest songs he has recorded, and a great intro to Dance.

  • Probably one of the greatest album intros ever, after that come's Kraftwerk's Europe Endless from Trans-Europe Express :)

  • This song is so damn long lol
