@rengirl94 You've never seen the show? OK. The consensus among many viewers I've read about Betty: she's been called cold, uptight, inappropriate, childish. I've seen every episode of the show and I don't find Betty to be any of those things. She is a product of her generation: get married, have children. While I couldn't see what type of career Betty might have had, it's clear being a housewife both bores and intimidates her. She's frustrated.

Don follows the formula of every other alpha male on TV--Tony Soprano, Californication, Tommy (Rescue Me), etc..in which he's a married/divorced playboy who lives with virtually no consequences doing what virtually every man wishes he could do. What bothers me about Don (aside from still being married until season 3's end) is how his insecurity forced him to no longer love Betty. In the swimsuit scene in which he tells her to change from her bikini, you can see the disappointment on her face.

@sweetprism00 I remember that scene. Don's reaction is classic Madonna/whore. While he is comfortable thinking of most women as loose and sexual, he doesn't want his wife and the mother of his children to be regarded that way.
