Youtube is great but if you get carried away with it you can find yourself up till nearly 5am having traipsed through a great deal of shit. Then you end up with this and everything is worthwhile. Beautiful x
2wayplebyney; a version of Fairport that did not include Sandy Denny originally recorded this on Full House; she did return later to the group briefly, and probably played on some live recordings,
Fabulous, absolutely wonderful. I caught Fairport in Cambridge MA in the 70s when Swarb was at his zenith. And of course, saw Richard many times. Incredible to see them back, like this.
It's so wonderful to hear these two great musicians working together - Sloth is hypnotic and fascinating. Also funny to see Swarb rear back and shoot a look at Richard's tiny stumble at 2:59. Always the perfectionist. And they are reaching out for each other at the end. I guess that sounds corny but this is so moving to see and hear. Thanks for posting.
Wow!!! This is really fantastic. Two heroes together after so many years. I saw Dave with Fairport twice in Holland in the seveties. Never forget that.
@2wayplebney I saw Richard do it live in 2002, I think it was. He was doing a solo acoustic show, and it was Fairport's 35th anniversary, so he said, "In honor of the anniversary, I'm going to do a little Fairport tribute. He did this and Sir Patrick Spens. After, in his usual darkly-humorous fashion, he said, "I did those because they were fun. Those other poor bastards have had to do them every night for the last 35 years."
Wow - a rare treat to see this. You asked for titles on one of the other videos - this is Sloth. It's an old Fairport song that used to feature a long electric guitar workout from RT.
Well dosen't that bring you back the years may moved on but God the music still remains. Thanks for the post and for bringing me back 30 years
