  • 実に面白い動画です。怪しく光るブルーが魅力的です

  • The first generation of British Rail AC locos were built with these as there standard equipment, but they weren't very durable on a train so they got replaced by silicon rectifiers. I bet the don't look as interesting.

  • Inside SCRs is magic smoke inside that conducts electrons in one direction only.

The only thing moe fun that replacing SCRs that have all the magic smoke removed is replacing SCRs and burnt out electroics in Swedish made equipment like Kiruna trucks

    ABB and Kiruna trucks...

Proof that 10 million Swedes can be wrong.......

  • @northerbrewer Lots of fun when an SCR explodes and scatters magic smoke all over the heatsink and burns up the control electronics.

  • The vid would have been good if it didn't have the stupid music. The entire attraction of these units is their sound along with the visuals. Can't hear squat when all you think is superman is coming to visit.

  • If you listen, you can hear the 3 or so gas/diesel engines behind the music which are drowning out any hum from the rectifier!

  • These things are awesome!!!! One of my earlist memories is one of these mothers in the Birminngham Science Museum!!!!! It's still running!!!!!!

  • Hi Steve,

Just saw your comment about the Brum Science museum. I have seen this many times. However, they have now shifted the site. So I wonder if they still have it with all the health and saftey lark.

  • Crazy how old electrical stuff had so magical attractive power. Today's electronics are so cold and boring..

  • @Triodus09 Thats true :-(

  • Love to see one working someday! Nice vid!
