The effect that this song shares in common with "black hole sun" is a guitar hooked up to a Leslie speaker. And a great moment for Leslie speakers indeed!
Man, I was born in the 20th Century and this music is great!!!
(That's for the ones weirdly complaining about people saying how old they are, who cares if they say that? They like it and if you don't - just listen, don't read!)
@RBCHILD4EV i agree! I'm 17 and even i know that today's music is garbage! sometimes i wish i was born earlier cause they grew up with REAL MUSIC and not this "ringtone song" bullshit.
It doesn't Matter what age you are(I'm Tired of people posting their ages trying to make an Unnecessary Statement)...Anyone whose Human & enjoys good Music Loves this Song:).Point Blank <3
I'm so glad to see many of the younger generation enjoying the music of our time. Thanks for keeping Soul and R&B alive today. I encourage you to look past the "mainstream" music. There are many independent artists out there that you will enjoy just as much. It's great to know that our future still craves the "soulfulness" we oldheads were spoiled to have. Thanks.
@PitbullLover204 that's what I'm sayin.....nothing like jams like this. I don't listen to nothing new except jazz. oldies and old school/funk Reigns Supreme
EXCUSE ME! Did wonderwomanfan4 say this sound is not really needed anymore?Yes, we are in a different time and place, but beautiful music isTIMELESS! I think some of these young artist need to stop sampling and make more beautiful music like this!
Truly one of the classic R&B albums of all time. I bought it back in 1977 and the Brothers thought I was patroninizing, but even a white boy knew good jams.
This is the best band that came from cincinnati. To think The Beatles were hip to them enough to cover Twist and Shout says much for the isleys and the beatles. also jimi hendrix was in the group for a short while. He tought ernie isley so much in such a short time...you can hear the influence in ernies sound. i have to say not too many white guys are hip to them, but my mom was...she just bought htis album to add to our isleys collection. if you have heard all of go for your guns...you should.
@PhunkyPhil72 That explains why I thought the guitarist reminded me of Jimi Hendrix... but even more soulful. So it was one of the Isley Brothers who played guitar inthis? Fantastic. My favorite Isley Bros. tune (even more than Twist and Shout)!
we are in a different time, place, this sound is not really needed anymore. however, i do appreciate it and I LOVE it.. But seems these people like JUSTIN BEIBER.. LOL i guess somehow they lost their appreciate for REAL MUSIC...
@WonderWomanFan4life I agree that we are in a different time, but as to this sound not being needed??? I strongly disagree!!! This sound is needed now more than ever!!!
I need it too. it just wished there were more people who would state their feelings about this music and artist who play this sort of style. It seems to me most of the 18 to 35 age group want to do RAP or METAL RAP or Taylor Swift style, Katy Perry, I mean where are groups like OJAYS, This one?? Gone when was last time you saw a group in this genre touring or a new group with this sound. WOW we have been forgotten. Thats why i said it wasnt needed by the record labels.
In 2002/03 I saw them at the St. Louis Arch singing this song during the 4th of July celebration and the place was packed. Traffic on the major freeway was bumper to bumper. This is one Family Reunion I will not forget. Thanks for the post.
i remember my dad got me into them when i was growing up in the late 90's and i remember even as a 9 year old kid I used to love them!! and I was actually lucky enough to see them in concert when i was 11 at the L.A. county fair!!
Just heard this tonight, I'm 17 and I'm thankful that there's R&B from the past that's original and not some mundane studio track you hear all the time now.
Is it me or does this song never get old? I don't normally like guitar riffs but it really works on this ballad. Why isn't this on that Guitar Hero crap?
@DLJgay Because Guitar Hero uses different standards. This song sounds amazing, but I play the game and know it wouldn't be fun to play on there. Just sayin'.
Amazing song! my favorite from them. Always loved the Isley brothers."Riff "does an amazing cover of this song on their "to whom it may concern" album, check it out and judge for yourselves.
I love this song. If you allow it to, it takes you to faraway place that hard to explain. When I listen to this song, I visualize my trip to Atlantis. Truly wonderful! I love the Brothers Isley.
The beat for this song is so relaxing. I love the beginning of this song. Its puts you in such a mellow mood you are on another plane while they are singing, I so love this song.
You can not make these memories go away because with this music that I grew up too makes me know love, remember love, and true happiness. This new music is a tragedy.
this song is so doggone beautiful. it is so perfect that i conditioned myself over the the past 30 plus years to only listen to it once so often simply because i want to appreciate more when i hear it.

People at that time were so spoiled with good music that it was hard for other good songs to reach to Billboards.
Nowadays it is miracle to have songs with beautiful instumentation and lyrics nowadays. Musicians are so depedent on fake beats and autotune.
Adele brought some spark back to a soulless industry hopefully it will help some of the youth really recongize what good music is.
It is more than just beats music has to speak to your soul.
