That was my second summer vacation down there in which I brought my Maxell tapes to record because the stations there played great songs that weren't hits. This song (never got played in Indianapolis)and oddly enough never even cracked the national Hot 100 singles or Adult Contemporary charts,so I'm real fortunate to have this great tune on tape,otherwise never would have known about it.

The internet has changed a lot of the distribution rules, but if I remember correctly, big record companies with offshoots like Columbia/CBS (now Sony) only regionally distributed some artists' albums ie: the Eastern Atlantic states or the Mid-west, etc. Larger acts with better promotion were nationally or internationally distributed. We never had this song in Canada. I just stumbled on it after liking "Lonely Won't Leave Me Alone" and buying the album.

For years Adult Contemporary station WNIC had a very popular nighttime host named Alan Almond on "Pillow Talk," one of the first love request-and-dedication radio shows, and this was a popular request. Alan played a lot of great songs that never cracked the national charts... another was "Read It In My Eyes" by Jennifer Holliday, off her non-hit 1987 album "Get Close To My Love." He makes Delilah sound like an amateur.
