I think it was the right call. I was watching that game and I was like "Oh damn, he's safe! There goes his perfect game!" I have watched several videos related to this incident. By far it should not be referred to as the worst call in sports history but the best sportsmanship in sports history. We all are human and we all make mistakes. This mistake unfortunately is public and takes from a great pitcher a remarkable record. I give great respect to both the pticher and the umpire! I pray that my son develops the same level of sportsmanship. We need to see this type of behavior more often in professional sports.

It was not an obvious call. It was very close and the first baseman poped the ball out of his glove to get a better grip on the ball the moment of the play. He could have been save - or out. the first baseman made it look safe.

For the first time in a while, that I have seen, An Umpires reaction is right AND the Teams response is correct as well - To Bad the League Missed the chance to follow suit - Everyone knows that the call was a mistake and all involved have admitted so and been true Men of the Game about it - EXCEPT for The League, they on the other hand had the chance to make it right and FAILED. Although they did say this is more evidence for Instant Replay. Over 15 years and counting !!

I have watched several videos related to this incident. By far it should not be referred to as the worst call in sports history but the best sportsmanship in sports history. We all are human and we all make mistakes. This mistake unfortunately is public and takes from a great pitcher a remarkable record. I give great respect to both the pticher and the umpire! I pray that my son develops the same level of sportsmanship. We need to see this type of behavior more often in professional sports.

You expect the 9 guys on the field (especially the pitcher) to just chalk it up to the human condition? They played perfectly for 9 innings, and deserve to be awarded so. I realize everyone makes mistakes and bad calls to do that is one thing,but to make that mistake that could set a record is another.I do not feel for the ump at all that was a crucial game and he just plain fukt it up. It was not an obvious call. It was very close and the first baseman poped the ball out of his glove to get a better grip on the ball the moment of the play. He could have been save - or out. the first baseman made it look safe.
