Firefox is actually probably one of the worst browsers for mac, believe me I've tried many. I'd say my top browsers for mac are:

1. Google Chrome. Excellent in many areas, perfect counterpart to a mac.

2. Camino (designed by mozilla (same as firefox), but only for mac. no plugins but super fast). similar to safari, but easier to use.

3. Safari / Webkit, (default).

4. Firefox

5. Opera

I think the best browsers for me on a PC right now is Chrome and Firefox. Firefox is pretty fast for XP, Chrome for Vista, because it uses less CPU. Can't wait.. 154 days til I get my Mac, don't judge me, if you were stuck on PC all of your life, you would countdown to a Mac too! :P

I disagree with the first two statements.

Nambu is a flawless beta Tweeting application on Mac. It's 100% free, open source, and beats all other tweet apps, honestly.

Safari 4 Beta is currently the best internet browser too. Half the extensions you can get on FF are inbuilt to Safari 4. It's also much faster, much sleaker, less cluttered; generally a better UI.

Actually Chrome is faster then FF3 and Safari 4. Safari 4 even copied Chromes features, Also, how does Safari 4 have half of Firefox's apps built in? There aren't really important new ones from safari 3 except most visited sites or w/e they call if after they copied it from chrome and faster speeds.

you cant say that one app is faster than another FULL STOP. It's not the same in every situation- it can depend on all manners of things including how busy a website's server is, how big of a document it is, how well the computer can handle the app, etc etc etc. Just because there was a test for it doesn't mean it's 100% fact.

And Safari 4 has half the apps I had to download in FF3 inbuilt. One example; cmd+click - "Inspect Element" ----> this is the Firebug extension in FF3.

Chrome has that too o.0. Also, I tested them on the same website "youtube" and chrome performed better. I also did the sunspider benchmarking test and chrome did better. Yes you can say one app is better then the other. Wouldn't you say safari is faster then IE? Thanks dude, I'm buying a MBP (after using Windows / Ubuntu) for so long soon so this is useful to me. I think I have an idea but I haven't tested it on a mac, I have tested it on Windows and Ubuntu though. There's this free program which makes you able to stream (and transcode if necessary) videos from your pc/mac to your ps3. It's called ps3 media server. I'm really wondering how it works on the mac.

No offense, but caffeine is a waste of hard drive space. Just use system preferences pane for "energy saver" and you can manually set a time for you mac to go to sleep when the computer is idle. The display will always go to sleep before the actual computer, so you can't move display sleep after system sleep.

System preferences is one click away (or 1 second away) located on the dock, or the apple menu located on the top left hand corner of the screen. Yah, caffeine is convenient for some, but for me, it just seems like an unneccessary thing to have when I can do the same thing using something my mac already comes with. The power management system on macs is very well managed.

Adium is a good messenger client that combines Yahoo, AIM, MSN, FaceBook, Myspace etc... (as we get a watered down MSN anyways) Ive never been a big fan of FireFox, i used it on XP but now i always use Safari. iLife goes without saying for new users (reason why some switch alone) and VM ware for people missing their PCs =P
