I am a self taught barber for Hospital patients where I work, I wish I could learn this. I have tried and messed up the hairline. When it comes to cutting black mens hair, I can trim it up some and make them look clean, but I WISH I could do this. Any advice?

This barber is extremely talented. As far as the comments about barbers that shape up with straight razors, I wouldn't recommend it. There is a tendency to sacrifice the natural hairline in order to obtain the sharpest line. Plus ,a skilled barber such as the one in this video shapes up with clippers just as sharp as razor would and without taking back the hairline.

Lol you crazy, but the straight razor really does make your line look very tight. not too many barbers really uses the straight razor. When I used to live in Columbia,SC and CT the barbers that would cut my hair used a razor but really cant find one to do it now, even when I was living in NYC.

come down to texas man, everybody who cuts this style hair uses a razor, it's like a tradition here, but like in nyc, and very big metro places of that nature, they probably avoid the str8 edge razor due to diseases floating around due to the large populations, however, the answer to that would be just to use a new blade everytime, but see a lotta barbers ain't goin to wanna spend money on that, like here in texas cuts are on average 8-13 dollars, i hear up there it's12 and up, usually 15 and up

oh ok i went to college park and got an edge up at a barber shop there and he only used the clippers. i asked him if he could use the straight razor and he said he didnt use those. but the rest of the barber shops i been to in orlando and philly all use straight razors.
