Well then it's more of an opinion kinda deal. I disagree with you, because I think that some anime have legitimately good English voice overs that fit snugly. Not a LOT, but some, and Gurren Lagann does have some fitting voices in it. Plus, I don't know very much Japanese, so all the better for me (I like subtitles, but I prefer listening). The only seiyuu in Gurren Lagann who is bad ass is Nobuyuki, who voices Adult Link and Ikkaku.

All he said was that the dub is perfectly competent which it is. Now the fact that you want to experience the Japanese language is your own choice. Personally when I watch something I don't want to have to be looking at subtitles 20 to 50 percent of the time and I'd much rather have a relaxing experience. That doesn't mean I won't watch subs because I do often but I prefer a decent dub.
