Hi this is CyberCzar and I have to apologize to whomever made the comment asking what my definition of Cyberpunk Music is. I accidently deleted the comment and would greatly appreciate if they would repost their question. I will try to remember the question and define the term in my next cyberczar video.
Ok ok I gotta ask this, cuz im curious. This is actully the first time I have posted on you tube. What is your feeling about the works done by Tsutomu Nihei.such as BLAME!? Cyberpunk or a whole nother thing?
To tell the truth, I'd have to look into it. Mostly, I'm into the works of William Gibson and Skipp Williams, creatoer of Splatterpunk, another great genre, if you're into twisted story's and Zombies and shit.
Anyway, it's an interesting thought. As Cyberczar I have an obligation to look into it. However, if you're talking about Eastern Cyberpunk, I'd totally recommend the guy-on-guy dating sim, "TogaInu No Chi" by Nitro + Choral. (I may have spelt that wrong)
I'm not so into gay dating sims as I am the whole outlook and feel of the game. It's post-apocalyptic and it's got a very rocking soundtrack. Very similiar to "Wolfs Rain". I'd recommend it if you were an open guy. As for other Cyberpunk games, I'd recommend system shock 1 & 2, and "Cybersphere", a cyberpunk MUD that's still running to this very day. Second Life also has entire city's based on Cyberpunk themes, however, they're very dead and inactive. Sad, considering it's 2nd life.
I was explaining my views that I made in my comments in the "Cyberpunk Atmosphere" video. It's great to have you respond, as I mention your comments in this video as well. =D
Yessir, $1100 from VIP Leathers, which closed down recently. I also trashed it and take very bad care of it so the seams on the tail are all undone, there's a hole near the pocket that had to be stitched closed, and the button on the back of the neck popped off. However, it's still got a silk inner-coating (or whatever you wanna call it) and it's made from "Fine Sheepskin", according to the tag. I wouldn't care if it were made of goatskin. Still looks great.
The list of Cyberpunk MOVIE'S is fairly limited. However, the list of Anime is quite large. However, that's mostly East Coast Cyberpunk. (I went on a rant over West Vs East Cyberpunk in my radio show, will repeat the gist of it in my next blog)
So: -The "Deathlands" made for TV Movie is a great example of the Cyberpunk Aesthetic/fashion sense, if you're looking for it. Otherwise it's been panned by critics due to being highly unfaithful to the original novel-series storyline.
(But really I never even read the novels, so to me, the Movie is just great for low-budget cyberpunk)
If you haven't seen it yet, the "Akira" movie is undoubtedly a favorite of mine and many Cyberpunk's. It's not only interesting and awesome, but Cyberpunk to the Core.
The "AD Police" series is quite short (like 6 episodes) and is cyberpunk as fuck! Think of Cyber SWAT Teams Hunting down Replicants. That's AD Police.
Also, a high recommendation is "CyberCity Oedo 808". 3 episodes long, and all of them fairly high production values. (Including a good English Dub! Holy shit!) You can find them easily on youtube, which is the good news.
Battle Angel Alita is a very awesome cyberpunk show. I have yet to finish it, but the theme runs high. Most of the population is Android, which makes for interesting themes.
Other then that, sadly, Matrix is the best thing I can come up with for Westcoast Cyberpunk.
PS: Checkout "Jin-Roh" (Not Cyberpunk but very awesome dark, gritty, gunpowder Sci Fi thriller) and "Ghost In The Shell" if you haven't already. Ghost in the Shell is what most anime geeks and Eastern Cyberpunks think of when it comes to more modern Cyberpunk.
agree with the most of what u said, but for me cyberpunk is huge dirty neocitys, drug junkies on the streets, huge companies owning almost everything, where life isnt wort a penny.Sort of noir future ..omg its hard to explain....i think somewere on the road of trying to explain cyberpunk someone got lost, its not a some sort of fashion or move its someone vision of the future...i think...
And nowhere along the line did I disagree that Cyberpunk was not about those things...
Huge dirty neocity's come from lack of enforcement over any kind of laws that would prevent it. Huge company's owning everything because of the fact they practically run everything nowadays and one of these days Corporations will become super-entity's that may outclass or be wealthier than the government. [First Reply]
And C-punk is WAY noir. It's why I like the first matrix. More Film Noir. Pay close attention and you'll see the first half play out like a good old fashion detective fiction. Unlike the later 2 which revolve around mechsuits and people shooting at eachother from cars.
Cyberpunk takes everything that's wrong with society TODAY (Corporation Control, Ruined Ecosystem, etc) and DOUBLES it, turning it into an EXAGGERATION so people can recognize it in their own lives a little better. Wakarimasu? =3
hehehe right about the matrix, but lets take less popular(well maybe not that less) like bladerunner and akira i think that describes it almost perfect. You said cyberpunk doubles and EXAGGERATES but its sooo close to the truth,in couple years 20,30 dno....world will probably look like it came from those movies ..and this may sound sick in some way but ill be to old to enjoy it ...damit....well if we dont destroy ourself first...
Not sick at all. I would love, and probably fit in perfect in a Cyberpunk world. =D
Again, I'm not technophobic, and I'd embrace a Cyberpunk world if it happened. Well, I'd never surrender to the Corps or Neo-Drugs, (Well maybe the neodrugs) but I'd love the rest of it.
Some more interesting things: I would be using a headmounted display if possible, but the currently existing ones are quite faulty and expensive.
If I make another video on this stuff, these comments will be involved. Just FYI

You should look into Tsutomu Nihei's work. Its very strange take on the future.
There is Zombie like biological monsters throughout. I dont know very hard to explain what it is. I was just curious your take.
