  • i'm also a little confuse. everybody is saying how the little kid is coping with his mom being in an abusive relationship. but i was sorta thinking that they had set that up so he'll project the best emotion

  • the little kid kinda looked like freddie highmore

  • my enterpritation of the film is one in which the camera crew which are seen to be following round the son and the mums bf are in the sons head. he is dealing with the obv abusive realtionship which his mum is in and isprojecting the camera crew in order to deal with it... make it less real.. as we see his mum is being raped at the end and all of a sudden the crew comes from no where to focus on his emotion.. fanstic short

  • The message was kind of lost on me?

  • Tough one

  • sorry , can anyone explain to me what's this movie trying to say ? forgive me stupid ~

  • beautifully written, directed and the cinematography is just perfect. great job

  • This was incredible, probably one of the most amazing short films i have ever seen. It's kind of like the book Time Machine where he leaves you to make up the rest of the story.

  • very nice.

  • wow. Riveting and gut wrenching.

  • It's not a subconceosness story. it's true form the beginning through to the end. don't abuse your children with your heavy killing relationships!.. they'd better escape.. this story is all about the kid. and his mother. such things are around us. mother glued to her lover. it's disgusting.

  • saddening ...

  • OMG HOW DOES IT END???? THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!!! DOES THE KID GET REVENGE????

BEST MOVIE EVERRRR.... BEST BEST SUSPENSE CREATED..... nOW WHERE'S THE REST????

  • That was fantastic

  • Very good , I believe it's won some awards. The same writer made Dad , also very good.

  • i'd nominate this for SOOOOO many awards!!

my films will *never* top this! =]

  • absolutly riviting, i loved it. though some of it really confused, me but then again it is quite an artsy film. Either way, you dont have to understand it to love it. Thrilling.

  • Wow. Breath taking

  • love it, gave me the shivers.

  • I love it!

    Really a great film!

  • i like this... 5 STAR thank u

  • Oh, and that boy will become gay soon.

  • this is amazing, really outstanding film i must say!

  • its like greengrass shot it and lynch wrote it. amazing.

  • Great!! Really like this :)

  • LOVE THIS!!!

  • Thanks for posting. Outstanding! and don't watch"re:son",just akid making faces to a cam. An unfair title in reference to something with substance.

  • wow exactly 150k hits xD

  • It is okay if this film was confusing to people. I think this was the aim, at least in part. Employing a plot that relies solely on "stream of consciousness" is tricky. It is tricky to do in literature and it is bloody confusing in film. One really needs to put oneself in the main character's place in order to understand things better. With all the shit flowing through contemporary, American cinema, I would think that this stuff would be old hat. There is hope.

  • Great!

  • Outstanding!

  • wait

can sum1 explain how shes abusing him

  • the husband is abusing the wife.

  • nope. mistake on that statement.

  • she isn't abusing him. she's in an abusive relationship with the director.

  • Great, I watched this till the end right when I'm supposed to go to bed and now it's going to give me nightmares.

  • yea why?

  • I shouldn't watch stuff like this. It's too real to me and i get emotionaly frustrated. I always feel like castrating the abuser in the end.

  • wish to see the mom use the spray can and a match on that guy next time he messes with her or SON James!

  • wish to see the mom use the spray can and a match on that guy next time he messes with her or James!

  • omg, it's like 16 min!

  • The shots were filmed very nice.

  • Hola, me encantó su trabajo, muy buen manejo de cámaras, fotografía y la tensión con el espectador, una hoistoria cíclica muy interesante, llena de momentos dramáticos ...felicidades!!!

  • shot very well though...

  • Yeah... sheesh...

  • Also i can be interpretted in many diff ways.like the whole setting could just be this boy's imagination..like he's made his reality nothing more than a play..like pretending, and the abusive bf is just a character..kids do this in order to cope.

  • this is by far the most disturbing thing iv ever seen, as if its not bad enugh to rape a woman they rape a mother infront of her child. if this was real i would track the rapers down and slay them on the spot. but since this isnt real and meant to couse ppl to think. i would say its one of the best films iv seen. iv been moved. hope i never see one of these again. thanks

  • I think the scene where the mother and son are running towards the light is a great metaphor for trying to escape the darkness..of abuse.

  • I don't really understand it.

  • kid is a conniving little devil, annoyed me the entire way through

  • spot on 1honest, spot on =P

  • aww the boy is so cute

  • Good film but lacks a resolutions makes you feel incomplete.

  • well done.

  • *at a loss for words*

  • simply awesome for me

  • A bit depressive really, nice camera job

  • it was good but i didnt understand at all, can someone please message me with an explanation?

  • it's about a mother who works at an underground theatre with her abusive bf who is obsessed with his "art" he locks her and her son inside just so he can capture their reactions, then rapes the mother in front of the son to film a loss of innocence.least that's what i took from it.

  • yes, and i think the mother is addicted to meth or some drug so she takes the abuse so she can get her fix.

  • wow it was pretty awsome!!!

  • Lol, why?

  • I loved it.

  • your a freek

  • As far as the camera goes, it reminded me of Children of Men and even Cloverfield; it makes you feel as if youre right there with them.

I cant tell if narration would've helped this film or hurt this film so I'm going to leave that out for everyone else to decide.

At some parts it was so dark that we couldn't tell what they were trying to do but that's that real sense of being there that more directors need to put in their films.

  • ? ?

  • Look at the Confederate video response!

  • And because there wasn't enough room... I really loved how it ended with the same scene in the beginning. Very artistic! Hopefully one day I'll make films like this, haha!

  • Wow, that was brilliant. I loved the cinematography of it all: the lighting, the camera... Especially the camera. I love how it was just hands-on instead of using a tripod. It made it feel more raw, and you can't get that same feeling of panic and fright with a tripod, like during the hallway scene where the camerman would chase them and the camera would be moving all over the place. It was well done, sir. If I understood right, the boy was trying to shut out the reality in order to cope.

  • Great acting.

  • Oh my.

That's just terrible. It's so tragic. I just...I don't know what to say. I think it's fabulous as a short piece and has the potential to become something longer and be in there amongst films such as Sweet Sixteen. In short, I loved it.

  • Fantastic, your DP did you proud.

  • Liked it. great circular ending.

  • fucking horribl

  • thats scary when the lights went off.

  • cool!!!

  • How exactly did the boy try to cope with the realities of his mother's abusive relationship.

  • The child was a star, in the middle of his act (shown in the begining and end) he witnesses his mother's boyfriend raping her.

  • Yea but HOW did he try to COPE with the ABUSE. Where in the film is it depicted that he was trying to COPE.

I think they should change the descripion to say.

Film about a woman who was abused at her workplace with her child being a witness.

  • the son gonna kill the man rapes his mom

  • i dont get it

  • BOOBS

  • Did she die? That was a great film any how. At first I thought the boy was Freddie Highmore. He was a very good actor anyway.

  • anybody having problems with videos 'locking up' on youtube recently? like something is wrong with the flash plugin?

  • ya i've had that too, i just restart my browser and it's fine

  • i was so confused, but it somehow was extremely interesting even though i didnt understand it, im gonna watch it twice

  • Yea, I was quite confused as well. Like were the mother and son confined to the underground and made to act, and she was really being abused.....? But I agree, it was really good. Got my heart going when the lights when out!

  • Cake

  • Anniebh Me too only I like watching these movies. Film and animation is truly the pinnacle of youtube because there the most original. Could people watching this please watch my videos and subscribe it would truly be helpful. Sorry I got off topic but that was a great film. Nice work

  • to be a short independent film it is of great quality

    good work

  • wad the hell is it about lols. i find it weird n strange doesn't really get the meaning of tis show.

  • love it!

  • wow what a bitch that whore needs to die, of course not in real life but if this was true

  • I really enjoyed it. I like short pieces of film like that.

  • what was the deal with the lights going on and off?

  • i liked the directing

  • ok then

  • wow.

  • hi babay h

  • gosh!

  • this was VERY good. But I don't really get some of it. Why were they filming the boy at the end? What was happening to his mother while he was watching and who was she with?

  • THIS ROCKS!!!! 5* - I love this head f*** S****! So my take is they where filming the boy because he's in a film (obviouse).... He's creating the senario as a block to what's happening in his real life so he doesn't need to deal with the reality of his mom being abused... The abuser guy is the director. Its the boy's way of escaping the abuse - its a metaphor!!!! A metaphor!

    Love this man, love it.

  • I think that the director guy is abusive, and he films the effects on his family, mostly his son. cos he was filming the his son's facial expression while sbusing his wife... and he filmed them after the light thing.

  • ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺

  • GREAT!!!

  • what was this shot with?

  • bravo.... :D

  • oh look another movie demonizing men, making them look like abusive monsters who do nothing but pick on and terrorize helpless women and children.

    go fuck yourself... seriously

  • Right on, sm00man.

    I second that emotion.

    Feminism is a disease.

  • its not like your helping your cause whining about the movie, be a man seriously. You can't even take an insult that is even aimed towards you and you think your a man. Be a man and just take the insults, grow some balls.

  • Ya i bet a womman made this film.. why cant we ever see this the other way around because abusive relationships with women being the aggressors actually do happen

  • Written and Directed by Daniel Mulloy.

sorry to dissapoint but it was a guy who did this

  • well the point still stands that in the media men are being demonized way to offen a man doing the film makes no diffrence its just usually a women

  • the first video response shown is hysterical XD

  • I dont understand this at all can someone explain?

  • Only Brits would this is a decent video.... I don't, I think it's a waste of time

  • Yeah, because everyone is a critic. Go make a better one then. This is why I think movie critics are the lowest scum...they get paid to criticize things. Anyone can do that. If they go and make something better, maybe then I would appreciate them. But they don't. They sit on their fat asses all day, watching damn movies, hiding behind the keyboard, much like yourself.

  • Wow. Amazing.

  • WOW.. that was really good, i didn't know places as desolate as those even existed..

  • wow

  • what a cute boy!so pretty!呵呵

  • Wow, that was good.

What was the location you used, if you don't mind me asking?

  • cool video man, keep up the good work

  • OK, one more rape on screen. Do you think it helps anyone? (even if it explores relationships between people, or relationship between light, camera and space, or say what you will).

The last scene looked like a Nazi experiment on the boy.

  • great.

  • Why do her and her son get filmed at random? If the point of this film was to have no point you did a good job! some one please explain what i just saw..

  • Hey have u seen the black hand???It's a web series i am making. Check it out and tell me what i can do to make it better. Thx

  • It was well written and paced, but..I was a little confused. Was it all 'in character?' or were their parts where it switched to the actors being themselves? And what was up with the locks in the dark?

  • i dare u to search

what happened last night easy button

    first vid

    ill repect u...

  • This was absolutely amazing! However, I'm a little confused as to what happened throughout the video. :/

  • heavy!

  • I liked it

  • Ok, that was really cool :D

I love how the starting and ending scenes are the same.

  • Its cool I want an extension.

  • At first I thought that kid was a young Freddie Highmore, before I saw him up-close.

  • Incredibly strange.

  • i like the movie

  • great visually, but the storyline kind of confuses me.

I loved it though. if you could message me and tell me exactly what happened, i'd really appreciate it.

  • same here. the storyline was kinda confusing.

    otherwise it was awesome :]

  • not kool muthafucker, not cool.

  • That boy looks like one of those trolls with the crazy hair.

  • cool

  • nice

  • very well made video and the message was very intriguing but it could have been a bit shorter but still very good

  • anyways i thought it was very well done ^o^ i watched it again. very very very very deep~!!!!!!!! ^o^ kids a good actor :3

  • I absolutely agree with you knightsintodreams. That was very well done! ;D

  • 还不错啊 很有创意

  • terrible... the show was slow to come to the point, and at some parts the camera shook so much it got a bit dizzy to watch. what's the meaning of this film anyway? if 16 minutes went into a message as short as the description then i have just wasted 16 minutes of my life...

  • what song was that (at 11:40) ?

  • It's not difficult to understand toddness. Are you the reason 'Hollywood' movies are so dumbed down? No wonder recent 'blockbusters' have to explain what's going on every ten seconds when they have an audience like you.

  • I defy you to spell it out for a retard such as myself. Please do, then I will eat my words. But, apparently, you cannot explain it.

The kid screwed up the play, on purpose, to get his mother in trouble. He acted up at the party to embarrass her. That's my take on it....

  • I think I get it. In the confines of an underground theatre, a young boy tries to cope with the realities of his mother's abusive relationship. Or something.

  • here, lets think about it~

he lives in a world of theater and make-belive. its what he knows. to deal with horrors constant he simply pretends he's in movie- filming a scene. its easier to "detach" from the movie - its not real, much the same your detached watching the movie, yasee??? he dosnt have to cope ^o^ its a survival trick.

  • It was brilliant.

You obviously have had to experience it to understand it.There are many abusive relationships where teh children suffer.

    Keep up the good work.

  • agree

  • sad and deeeeeeep =/

  • The play looked like utter garbage anyway. Masks with white top hats doing pantomime? Awful!

  • maybe a metaphor??? lord....>.>

  • Ah! I see, a self-referencing metaphor, for this overblown short film which no one is capable of synopsizing. People call it brilliant because they do not understand it, and they don't want to appear stupid, like me.
