  • this is my favorite book EVER! and i actually really liked the movie, considering it was made in the 60s, yeah there was some difference, and it coulda been better, but its rare to find book movies that are as great, if not better the the book. the only two i can really think of is the watchmen and the mist...

  • Review the Speak Movie. Also not that good. But I would love to see your Comparisions between the 2. Or you can review the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

  • If you're going to start doing movie reviews, then do your homework. The director is Francois Truffaut -- one of the New Wave directors which helped change the face of films during the 1960s. Today's directors have borrowed a great deal from him and the New Wave movement. His deliberate use of colors and characters is specific and you have missed half of what he was trying to get across in this film.

  • @miladymell Come now - you don't have to be mean about it. Whether she knows about Truffaut and the New Wave or not doesn't alter her reactions to the film. She simply gave her critical assessment - with both positive and negative bits - to what she saw, and that's totally fair/legit. Hell, even though I love Truffaut, if I were to see the film, I may very well come up with the same points about it.

  • @mrred0710 While I agree this blogger is entitled to her opinion, that does not qualify her as a film critic. This is a particular sore point with me because it seems as though anyone with a blog today calls themselves 'critics'. The art of critiquing anything (be it films or books or society at large) requires a type of intellectual curiosity. Facts are as important as impressions when it comes to this particular art. An 'opinion' is fine. A true critic has to be informed.

  • @miladymell I think you're taking this WAY too seriously. It's not like she's running out getting business cards printed up saying "film critic." Plus, blogs, Youtube and the internet have significantly changed the game to the point that, whether you like it or not, there are people such as Priscilla who offer their own voices alongside those of more "professional" critics. Audiences who want a more "informed" perspective will know where to look, but there's no harm in what she is doing.

  • I thought the movie was good! But I haven't read the book so I might thought differently if I had previously read it.

I believe you are going to have a hard time enjoying any of the movie adaptations if you watch them always after reading the book and so soon after it.

  • Good review! While I haven't seen this film yet, I'm a big Truffaut fan, and I have definitely heard that this wasn't his best effort by any means. It was the only film he ever made in English, and apparently he had a tough time getting used to the language barrier and large scale of the English production. The film took a really long time for him to finish, and by the end, he was just glad to complete it and move along. Not the greatest conditions, and that likely explains the movie's quality..

  • Oh this movie was horrible. Great book... terrible movie... augh.

  • Good job!I like how you sum it all up oh and amazing credits I love the animation ^_^

  • Awesome movie review! I still have to read the book and I'll probably still watch the movie too. I'm a sucker for any old movie. :)

  • Oops! I meant read The Greyfriar. Riftwalker is book two; The Greyfriar is book one. And I should also point out that it's steampunk not dystopian.

  • I like you. :)

Read Clay and Susan Griffith's The Riftwalker. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. I mean, read it if you want to, of course. ;)

  • You should read Valley of the Dolls and see the film!!!

  • @BobmansCave You really do.

  • Great review! Are you going to be reviewing the Fault In Our Stars? I know you changed your layout, but it is SO worth straying from.

  • I love the stars! I chuckled a bit, then . . . jealousy took over at how you know how to do that.

  • @TheEighthPotter I liked the stars too!

  • Will def. skip the movie! Thanks for such an amazing review :-)

  • This is a great channel!

  • I love these movie reviews! =D will you be reviewing The Hunger Games? ^_^

  • I totally agree!! The movie was awful! I think they should remake it...

  • the movie was awful but the book was okay, although my whole class kept telling the teacher to burn the book....so lol

  • Isn't there a certain book ban in the U.S? I remember a teacher mentioning that one time that there are certain books that are restricted.

  • @AJAngelChannel Check out ALA's website on banned books! Each year, there are challenges made against certain books to be removed and restricted from school libraries. D:

  • @AJAngelChannel Libraries and school ban books sometimes (ridiculous, I know).

  • give it a break its such a old movie!!

  • Great review, Priscilla! Looking forward to more videos! :)

  • @TheMetalheadBookworm Thanks, Melissa! Hope you have a great weekend :)

  • @thereadables Thanks! You too!

  • I love that you're doing movie reviews in 2012. But I'll have to say, I'm kind of missing your weekly book reviews :(

  • @angellmarlene Thank you! I'm missing it too, and I can't wait to record my in conclusion video. I'm about to burst with thoughts on these books. X)

  • Awesomeness!!

  • i had to read it for English II honors and I loved book. I haven't seen the movie and I dont plan on it. I dont really like when books are turned to movies.

  • @JanuaryBlack1996 Yeah, I read it my freshman year in Honors English and was so in love with the concept of censorship and a rogue protagonist.

  • both suck

  • I don't read a lot but you're so gorgeous, I have to watch. lol

  • *movie. Not book. :P

  • Your first book review? Correct me if I'm wrong but you've already done a bunch. HP7p2, Fight Club, The Shining, etc...

  • @rexrex118 THANK YOU! :D

  • @thereadables XIE XIE NI ^_^ THANKS :-)

  • Hey, I was just wondering how come you don't update your goodreads account anymore? I mean with your currently reading books.

  • @xKleinerAndroid I was contemplating whether I should reveal my thoughts on the books here first, or on goodreads... and I miss updating goodreads as I read. Next month, I'll be updating normally. :)

  • @thereadables You could always reserve your thoughts after uploading your vids. That way you can update statuses but keep reviews for last.

  • eh, books are usually better than the movie

  • I get soooo excited whenever I see new videos posting up!!! =D

  • @tifflolany1445 Thanks so much! :)

  • Well, Priscilla, have you finished TFIOS yet? If not, let me just say *WWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW* One of the best books I've ever read.

  • @KiraismyLord Not yet O___O

Awesome, can't wait to read it!

  • do more movies reviews :b

  • yep i remember the movie it was okay the book is better

  • there's a new adaptation in production as we speak! Hopefully it will do the book some justice.

  • @WordsofaReader Hopefully! X) I have no doubt they'll pull off the sci-fi elements, but I hope they capture the intensity of the characters as well.

  • Sounds like an interesting book, I recall seeing a bit of the "Fahrenheit 451" movie and never got it. I think I'll stink to the book, if I buy it (likely will).

  • @sfighter991 Yes, definitely check out the book!

  • "It was kinda bad....not gonna lie..." hahah i love you Priscilla XD

  • I really hope there is a remake of F451. Loved the book though. Glad you liked it.

  • @BookPeek It would be really cool to see it remade. I was missing some of the sci-fi elements that were in the book D:

  • @thereadables Yeah. The movie was almost laughable to me after reading it but I did try to keep in mind it was made half a century ago.

  • At first, I was a bit iffy about your new format, but now I think it just adds to your readable awesomeness!

  • @xxLittleMissMagicxx Thank you!! :)
