corelle plates are break and chip resistant... they will shatter if u drop them in marble or tile floors or lets say someone throws is across the yard. if anything happens to ur plates just bring bak the pieces to ur local corningware store and they will replace the plate or bowls. the one good thig about corelle is that they are light weighted... i work at a corningware store so i know.... if u drop a plate on cement floor it will be fine.
i have used them my whole life, about 1 in every 20 that i drop break. Usually the older ones or multiple dropped ones. they still stand up better than most plates though. These guys have a really hard ceramic tile looking floor, they do better on softer floors like wood and vinyl tiled.

Yep they are a liar!!!! Mines shattered when it slipped off my hand from the dish washer and it was only two feet off the floor!!!
