@JaytheOstrich 'massively wired'? they could be wired just the same as the human brain to the nose, but it's likely that dogs have LESS neurons going from the nose to the brain. the reason that dogs can smell better than us is that they have more sensitive chemical receptors on the noses, and because their noses have more neurons transmitting the signal to brain neurons. at the brain though there are less 'nose' neurons in dogs

that's why you're not a cognitive scientist, either!

@sinprelic Your post doesnt make any sense, he didnt say that dogs have more neurons in the brain processing the signals from the nose. All he said was that a dog is more controlled by what it can smell than its other senses, which is a pretty logical conclusion that wouldnt require being a 'cognitive scientist'. You even eluded to it in your post, dogs can process signals from the nose more efficiently than a human, in the same way a pigeon can with sight.
