  • No matter how many times I see this vid I still love it.

  • God love ya. Danny Joe had that magnetism that every woman looks for. Yumm and we will never forget. Dreams get the best of all of us and this band just rocks its butt off and I Feel like I never want to grow beyond Molly Hatchett, but that is not likely to happen. I will listen tho, til the day I die.

  • LOVE LOVE EM!!! (h)

  • These guys aren't a bunch of "Pretty Boys" but DAMN can they ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @davcolli I recall the fact that they would play their ass off and if you challenged them after the show they would kick your ass! Loved them in the 70's and was around to see them and the original Allman Brothers !! Life was good...

  • That is best LONG solo(s).

  • I feel that the Outlaws need to be mentioned here. The first Florida Guitar Army. Live "green grass and high tides" is by far the best, longest guitar solo(s) ((starting at 3:10 on Bring em back alive version)). RIP Hughie, Billie, Frank.

  • simply amazing

  • My favorite Southern Rock Band ever!! Love their album cover art!

  • RIP Danny...... what a front man !

  • yeah sounds like you have done some playing and i listen to every one you mentioned and we could talk all night which would be fun but to me some guitar playing has an imediate identifiable soul to it- paul gilbert seems to make it look the easiest,i guess i really do need a good rythem/hook no matter whos singing.i agree danny joe brown was the shit.hey ck. out COLD'S singer dont know his name.seeya

  • Molly Hatchet always had the greatest album covers. I used to work in a record (remember those?) store & people used to always think they were a metal band because of the album covers. Very similar in art style to Manowar. Good memories....

  • Saw them with Ted Nugent. Still one of my favorite songs

  • Southern Rock has always been the best. Its just unreal what has come out of Jacksonville Florida!! RIP Danny Joe you still rock us all!!

  • Hlubek still rocking!!

  • Seen them open for A/C D/C in Rockford, IL. Kick ass show!

  • this isn't even the video i was mentioning about the bad mix damn

  • Molly hatchet has three guitarists yes but none of them are a world class musician..Danny Joe Brown was the draw for the band..They wrote some really lame stuff..people are citing the three guitar bands but you hear a difference in the live shows..Hatchets live stuff was really shitty and out of tune with one another ..what can you expect from a 2nd or 3rd rate band..Dave Hlubeck will never be considered a guitar hero because he's nothing

  • @toobmaniac to boob maniac-try playing fast blues/pentatonic leads as fast as even lame dave hlubek or recording them as clean as lame dave.oh yeah have you ever tried to get them to sound good with e REAL band with everybodys amp on9 or 10...?(WAY ABOVE DRUM KIT THINK FEEDBACK -ITS TOO COOL FOR YOU...maybe there not major league to you but to see what aband is about listen to the non hits

  • So don't try telling a rocker how to rock or explain scales to me because i know my scales and modes and don't need to be explained to about sound..Molly Hatchet just isn't Molly Hatchet without Danny Joe Brown , He was the main draw for the band..Eric Johnson can show you what fast pentatonic runs are with his polymodal pentatonic aolian and ionian mix phrasings so check him out and if you dare challenge your ears and want to hear more than pentatonics listen to Malmsteen or Randy Roads

  • Respond to this video... Thirdly, Fast blues pentatonics "as you called it" are the easiest thing to play .But i do have to correct you on one thing, where is it fast at? there was nothing fast about anything those guys play, plus the other guy has a tone deaf ear and never gets his bends to the right pitch and is embarrassing for me to just hear it..I have their complete discography and bootlegs so i know what i'm saying.I was a fan back when i was 16 or 17 and played all that stuff

  • Lol I don't know why you have to start out with name calling..Secondly , I do use Marshalls for your information and i do always turn them all the way up..It's harder on the tubes and transformer and you go through tubes quick..But it's still a bad mix on the video , That's why we use a P.A system to even it all out and fill any dead space in the room and on stage..The sound from the video came from the camera recording the band hence the bad mix because it was too close

  • This is and ( ALWAYS ) WILL BE , one song that lives forever !!! R.I.P. DANNY JOE BROWN ..

  • Met this band in a hotel after they warmed-up for Boston in 1979. The lounge singer gave up his guitar to Dave Hlubeck and he just jammed there in the hotel to our group of Rutgers students. What a memory.

  • I may be old......... but I got to see all the good bands back in the good ol' days. This one is timeless. Anyone remember summer weekends at Wilmer's Park, MD ???

  • Danny Joe Brown took a side B Allman Bro. song into an incredible level. I saw Molly Hatchet in Springfield Mass. in 1978 playing this. They opened up for the Outlaws. The guitar army was incredible, last song in their concert that night.

  • Souther Guitar Army! With all due respects to the Allman Bros, this is one of the greatest "remakes" in R&R history!

  • @Sebring720minutes I feel the same way!!!!

  • i got to see them perform twice in same day 1985 in mpls and caught 3 guatir pics and still have one in my album! Riff West picks

  • i got to see them perform twice in same day 1985 in mpls and caught 3 guatir pics and still have one in my album!

  • I love this song! Kind of regret not accepting an invitation to a Christmas party with the lead guitarist in the mid 1990s, but he was a hot mess by then.

  • Danny Joe Brown....GREATEST Southern rock voice ever! RIP Danny, you are truely missed.

  • @STEVELOVESMARIABravo, my brutha

  • He was so sexy!!!! Damn....

  • This Kicks Ass!

  • To quote KISS " God gave Rock n Roll to you", and THIS my dear friends is Rock n Roll.

  • One of the Best songs EVER, even better than the original.

  • Is it just me, or does Danny Joe White look sort of like a less-angry Glenn Danzig?

  • @DinsdalePiranha67 Danny Joe White???? idiot

  • my favorite hatchet song. You can never have enough guitars. I would recommend at least 4 maybe 5.

  • pretty fuckin cool, I watch this alot. Is that guy with the black strat from the Outlaws?

  • @melodicexp That is original Molly Hatchet member Steve Holland with the black Strat.

  • WHAT A GREAT SONG!

  • reminds me of some of that good ekoostic hookah haha

  • Molly Hatchet is one of the best Southern rock bands I've ever seen and heard. Perfect guitar sound at the highest level!

The band had also many fans in eastern Germany, who explained with a really good guitar-oriented music. I grieve for Danny Joe Brown, one of the most expressive musicians.

  • who cares if is one ,two or trhee guitars they are a pretty good band an d still rockin:!!!!!!!! and you , who you are? one big looser kahuana 96

  • danny joe is the man. what a voice

  • Classic 3 guitar army; where all 3 play separate parts. Iron Maiden has 3 guitars, but really only needs 2. Bad Religion has 3 guitars, but really only needs 1.

Collective Soul has 3 guitars, but really who gives a sh*t!

  • WHAT A GREAT SHOW !!!!DANNY JO RIP BROTHER

  • A lesson in rock and roll. I was lucky enough to see them in the early 80's. The only band I ever saw that came out after the encore just to shake the hands of their fans and sign autographs. This band were masters of the arrangement and bringing songs up from one climatic level to the next. Masters. My favorite all time video will always be a sick and ailing Danny Joe Brown belting out Flirtin with Disaster one last time at a benefit concert the old band did for him.

  • One of the best Southern flavored rock bands ala Allman Brothers, Marshal Tucker and Lynard Skynard. All of those bands were double guitar fueled rock and roll at it's very best. What's amazing is how so many of them died young. Live fast, die hard and leave a good looking corpse, I guess that's the mantra of the Southern rocker.

  • Molly Hatchet's is by far the best version of this old standard.

  • Luv this song -n- Mark & Brian in the AM on KLOS -

  • Danny Joe Brown, RIP, for you touched a lot of people with your voice!

  • simply rocking back and forth in sinc while playing like a band entertains me more than a stagefull of dancers, a backing track and no talent singers.

  • love 'em great music super cover

  • say what will about this band some of the best guitar work ever they could play together as well as any other band on the planet

  • guitar army

  • better than or at least more rockin than the AlmanBros version, sorry but its true,I love the Almans but Danny Joe Brown owns it on this song, just primoperfect

  • I don't know how else to say this, and I mean it in the most heterosexual way possible, but Danny Joe Brown is so fuckin good cause he sings like a man. Plain and simple, THE MAN.

  • I love summersetcase's reply. I have never heard it said better

  • Always a great listen!

  • I guess the 13 dislikes are pissed off Allman Bro's fans?

  • Molly Hatchet kicks ass! Such an underrated group imo.

  • saw them a couple times in the late seventies....... i think!!!!!!

  • @greenmonte454 I'm going to guess you had a REALLY GOOD TIME, LOL! No matter what happened, or where you were, or that whole 48 hour blackout thingy~ :)

  • fire up that doobie

  • Southern rock! Say what you will, but nobody made a guitar sound sweeter than a good ole boy playing southern rock! May not be the fastest, and it may not be the most technical, but damned if doesn't make the hair on the back of my neck stand up! Rock on!!

  • good shit, need i say more? i did'nt think so.

  • Oh, yes, yummy is the only way to describe Danny Joe...God Bless Him.

  • I'm back again

  • I had the privilege of going to a concert here in Jacksonville and the lineup was: Cheap trick, Molly Hatchet and AC/DC, and tickets back in 78 were only $7.50. What a great time to be alive.

  • @MyRumplestiltskin yea minimum wage was 2.65 so you had to work 2.8 hours for tickets, now at $7 something and tickets being $50+ for anything it is 6+ hours of labor for a ticket. PLUS getting to the concert it only cost .63 a gallon for gas compared to almost $4 a gallon now. LOL

  • Great version of an all-time classic rock song. Allow me to get on my soapbox for a sec: why do the so-called "classic rock" radio stations out there ignore the stuff from the '70s, except for Zeppelin and the Stones? There's WAY too much "hair metal" on those stations as well. In the old days of rock radio you could hear these guys followed up by Skynyrd, or maybe some Joe Cocker or Little Feat. Classic rock radio won't touch Little Feat with a 10 foot pole! OK, I've said my piece.

  • Danny Joe Brown was the best!!

  • These guys are awesome and I never forgot them from the late 70s early 80s!! Always in my dreams...

  • i agree!

  • I GOT MY DREAMS!!!........ NUFF SAID

  • HAHAHAHA// better then the original.. seriously though.. the allman brothers band song 'dreams' is perfect.. This cant be compared to it because this sounds nothing like it really.. that being said.. this song sucks lol..in my opinion.

  • R.I.P Duane, I miss you buddy

  • I have seen Molly Hatchet four times over the years. The first time I saw them was back in '79 and I was 18-years-old. There was enough doobies being passed around the audience to fill a semi.

  • Molly Hatchet is good, and this version is nice, but to you people who say this cover is better than the original Allman Brothers version don't know what it's like to wake up with the blues...

  • @Xeyedjohn allmans version simply sucked!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @cbSundance75 Thank you for your comment. I respect your opinion. I guess which version is better is purely subjective and taste specific. If I may expound on my comment, I feel like the songwriter G.Allman best sang the song in a blues fashion, typical ABB, whereas DJB's version seemed so much more upbeat, which was indicative of Molly Hatchet's kick ass rock n roll style. I appreciate Molly Hatchet, but personally I feel Allman Brothers Band are so much deeper and soulful. Thanks again.

  • Danny Joe Brown Could've parked his shoes under my bed anytime.....lol Great Band. = )

  • Hatchet along with The Outlaws were what we called GUITAR ARMIES....

  • Another album I burned out when I was 15! Love it! My stepbrothers really hated me! ha, ha, ha~

  • One of the few songs where the cover is better than the original. Molly Hatchet didn't get the credit they deserved. RIP boys, you were great.

  • The Allman Bros, did it first, but I like this version better!

  • always loved his full voice with the groul and bringin from his ass

  • scrap that...Allmans 40 yrs ago lol....them and Moly of the same gene pool

  • I don't know who does the original but this is the 1st time I've seen anybody but the Allmans play this song ( as last night @ the Beacon NYC)...in the southern rock tradition...very nice version!

  • @DsveysNavy ALLMAN BROS did Original when DUANE was still alive. DJB and Hatchet do a BETTER Version tho...

  • Love This Shit

  • Miss these days. R&B was southern, coke was pink flake, and a pack of smokes was less than 2 bucks.

  • I NEVER get tired of this song, or this band. These guys kick total ass! And DJB had it all goin' for him. What a stud. RIP, Danny Joe.

  • Perkin's Palace!!!!

    Loved that place!

  • So excellent. No new music can even come close to this.

  • Freakin awsome!!! what a cast of great musicians, timeless, God I miss this kind of music.

  • dat is "Molly Hatecht" ?

meine Güte, wie lang habe ich gesucht u nicht gefunden..... aber nu.... nu weiß ich wat loss iss ...AMEN

  • LOVE THIS SONG never get tired of it. Play it almost every day. Can't wait to see them a few more times this year in Michigan

  • Ronnie was going to produce their 1st album but sadly he died in the crash. Molly Hatchet used Skynyrds equipment to record their 1st album

  • The truly sad thing about this is that there are 384K views.........and wanna be's like Lady Gaga, Bieber, and all kinds of rappers have views in the millions. Yet THIS GROUP and others like them are where the true talent is!!

  • how many guitars on stage?People ,it doesn't get much better.

  • @onebigkahuna69

Let me just say that in Southern Rock, there is no such thing as too many guitars and that`s why we love it so much.

  • @onebigkahuna69 There is no such thing as " too many guitars " in a Southern Band! Just sayin~ :)

  • @loriannedc you are so f###king right... seeing these guys again!!!!!!

  • @onebigkahuna69 lots of great guitar work on this, but,,,,,,,,,,,I gotta tell ya,I could use a LIL MORE COWBELL

  • I have every member of this bands autographs plus the party time's together=hit me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh by the way, my name is Sullivan Brell ( SullyB1308 )..my little country of New Zealand hardly ever get good heavy rock bands playing here in my country, our next door neighbors Australia always get the better of us for touring bands etc..so come on guys..please come down, hell I'll even do my own promoting to bring you guys down here..

  • @SullyB1308 hang in my friend

  • One of my favorite bands of the 70s era, Whiskey Man is my favorite song, but the rest of their songs on all the Albums they did are just as good, I am 54yrs old, I live in New Zealand, if this band are still playing together, I wish they come down under to my country here in NZ to do a one off concert..that would be so awesome..hey Molly Hatchet, if your reading this. here is my contact mobile number 00164 0212086822..luv to see yas' down these ways boys. cher.

  • Stand on it brother Duane 2:29

  • i see ppl that compare Hatchet to Skynard and to me there is no reason to compare. they both have pure southern rock sounds and both are great bands and if i had my wish i would be able to sit in a very long show and rotate both bands in and out

  • I was in the West Indies at a tiki bar last summer and a guy next to me said he was the original bass player with Molly Hatchet, he seemed to know a lot about the band, but than again there were a lot of drinks with tiny umbrellas involved. Hatchet forever man!

  • @jazzfusionary Was his name Banner Thomas ? If so he was the man .

  • I saw these guys every weekend or every other preforming at the Castaways bar on the beach @ Jacksonville Beach while In the USN from 75-79. They aren't the same w/o D.J.

  • These boyz are allright, but theyz ain't no Skynyrd...

  • hey don, your buddies, 367,000, views from don

  • hey don, your buddies

  • damn I sure miss these guy's! sorry to see the lead singer past, he had such a great voice. I'm glad I've got all their records.

  • I remember seeing MH in Portland, OR opening for Foreigner. They left that stage smoking, literally. It was one of the best overal concerts I ever saw. Danny was a hell of a performer, he will never be forgotten.

  • I love his voice! Killer song from the past...

  • His infectious smile, looks & his effortless singing. He must have had the women lining up & down the street from his tour bus. The replacement singers can`t hold a candle to him .

  • @danzthaman62 That is Riff West

  • Is that Greg T. Walker from Blackfoot on bass?

  • @danzthaman62 Looks a bit like him, but I don't think it is. I believe it's Riff West who toured/recorded with Hatchet from '82-'85.

  • Sad that Danny Joe is dead.

  • that song reminds me of my kitchen days as a chef and this would be my starting song before the day to get into mood, and it was my after work song to play the guitar while driving my jeep with the top down

  • Love the original-go Allmans-but this works.Never heard the Allmans say anything bad.RIP DJB

  • As a musician and an artist I identify with all musicians and love the sound of a Gibson Les Paul. Molly Hatchet created their own unique sound Robert Plant once said, the music notes are all the same just played different.

  • the 10 people that dislike this obviously never had dreams

  • Saw them 5 times in the 80's they always rocked out.4w/ Danny Joe Brown; he was the best singer they had...Guess I am part redneck to rhondan67 . I love southern rock always did always will....Just a "simple man"

  • This is one of my all time favorite songs!! Love it!

  • Yeah, I'm part redneck cause I love southern rock

  • Southern Guitar Army! Fucking Awesome! 2:39 - 4:12 Duane is sick! If you don't like this, take a barbed-wire enema.

  • Nice year.....Great Band/Show & Tune! Thanks for this one!

  • I saw the band with Danny Joe in Chi town many moons ago. I was awestuck! RIP Danny Boy! You surely ain't forgotten!!!

  • I have liked this song since the first time I heard it back in high school. I love the ABB's original version best, but, this is fantastic, too.

RIP Danny Joe Brown. You are missed.

  • so fuck awesome

  • so underrated

  • We play this as a 3-piece, I play bass, I have to tell you it's epic to cover the bass and rhythm guitar parts at once but the crowd loves this song.

  • one word.....killer!

  • Love the choreograpy! Hokey, but loads of fun!! The last few bands I've been in have done this song. A real crowd pleaser.

  • Sounds fine to me. If you don't like it maybe you s/b listening to Michael Jackson.Give the pansy my regards.

  • THANKS FOR POSTING!!!!!
